and what about GT pro for a lowest ever price?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/HUAWEI-Smartwatch-Touchscreen-Blue…

    • +1

GT 2 Pro has a sapphire screen over the standard GT2 as well.
Does look like the GT3 is out now as well,.. so maybe that's the reason for the price shrug

      • What is the advantage of the PRO ?

        • honestly,… I "think" it's just the sapphire screen.
Mind you I would pay more for that, much more durable.

    • looking around on google, seems like this is a pretty standard price (10% lower) compared to the RRP still being shown of ~$400

  • How is battery life after using?

    • +1

Got me through 7 days C-19 isolation

    • +3

I've had it for 3 years now. ATM it lasts like 10 days

    • about a week for me with always on display. Maybe 4-5 days if i use it for tracking workouts/walks. It's about 13% drain per day

  • +3

This is a great smart watch for the money. Had mine over a year, still going strong and battery lasts ages for me (10-14 days)

  • Gt2 pro 52 gram, GT 2 300gm anyone knows why this big differences!

    • +3

300g is probably the entire box weight. The watch (excluding the band) weighs 41g.

I own one in all black, it's absolutely not 300g lol

    • Wow 300gr? It’s like wearing a slab of steak on your wrist

  • i have this watch, I tried the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. didnt like the fit (strap uncomfortable, had to be on tight still left gaps on the edges) and the battery was barely 2 days)
switched back GT2 which feels and looks like a real watch, and the battery lasts over a week and charges in less than 2 hours

    • Pros and cons to everything. I have the GT2. Looks good from the front, and nice screen. Incredible battery life, and it's really fun to choose from the hundreds of watch faces available. But it doesn't actually do much. My Apple Watch 3 is far more reliable as a fitness tracker, and it's far smarter and can do many more things.

      • I found the Band 6 to be so inaccurate that I sent it back (same with the Fitbit Charge 5 !) is this more accurate than either of them? I'm currently planning to wait for the Mi Band 7 but would jump to this if it actually does what it promotes to do.

        • +3

I'm not sure, but the GT2 seems to be slower at detecting that I'm walking, for example when I just walk 20 steps around the house, so it will miss some of them. I think it's probably more accurate when you're outside actually walking, swinging your arms. Apple Watch is more accurate, and seems to catch all my steps, even indoors. For heart rate, the GT2 takes ages to detect my accurate heart rate sometimes. Like, when I've exercised and I've clearly got a heart rate over 120, it will still be showing 80bpm for a while, sometimes a minute or two.

          • @ForkSnorter: Many thanks, I suspected it wouldn't be much better than the Band 6 but then, none of them seem overly accurate or reliable! My old Ionic wasn't bad but they've disabled it! (unless there is someone who know how to reactivate it…I suspect it is a DNS/code deactivation?)

  • Anyone have experience using this on iOS with an iPhone? Is it more hassle than it's worth trying to use with iOS?

    • +1

works great with iOS on an IPhone and answers calls!

  • How easy is it to toggle bluetooth/wifi on & off? need to 3x-4x daily for areas I work in..

    • there is an eco mode or something like this which is switching off everything except the watch function.
      just one swipe

  • +7

    no nfc no deal

  • +1

The watch is great but the only thing, sometime it will auto enable "Phone Calls" in bluetooth by itself when incoming call even I have turned it off default.

I don't want to talk on the watch, just want to use my bluetooth earphone.

  • you can connect your headphone to your watch to answer calls

  • +3

A good deal for those with the right use case, but no NFC payment capabilities means no go for me. Unless anyone here who owns one has gotten an update to enable this?

  • +3

Will Xi Jinping find out when I'm jerking off?

    • +14

It'll just register as a 15 second sprint on the exercise tracker

      • Won't ask how you know that….:-)

    • -3

Dont get Penny Wong too excited

    • Most definitely! Make sure the watch is on the wrist of your jerk-off hand to blur the images transmitted to Xi Jinping!

  • Can this do android pay/ google pay

    • No unfortunately

  • I bought a Huawei watch for my wife in rose gold. Think it was the GT2 or GT.

Woke up one morning to the smell of burning plastic. The charger had burned and melted around the back of the watch.

    Buyer beware.

I'm not anti China products BTW… I have a Mate 20, and my wife a p30 pro. However not sure about the QC on these watches.

Are people are still buying the 'smart watch' gimmick? How many of these things are in landfill now along with all those fitness activity trackers?

    • I own a number of watches, mostly mechanical, ranging from my late dad's 1960's Rolex through to Citizen Ecodrives and Chinese watches. I was very dubious about the usefulness of smart watches, but the Amazfit that I wear every day now is worth it. It only cost about $70. The battery lasts for a month, so I don't even think about charging it - just put it on the charger overnight every now and then. It notifies me of alerts on my phone - so I can read SMS without having to get my phone out and unlock it; this is really handy when I use so many systems with 2FA through SMS. It tracks my sleep and heart rate, so I can monitor my health to some degree. It only weighs 50g, so it's actually more comfortable to wear than most of my other watches.

It's like being a car collector but driving a Prius day to day. There's nothing exciting about it, but it's cheap and easy.

    • +1

I'm on the opposite end. Why would I want a normal watch?

I like the heart rate tracking / gps etc but even if we just assume that's pointless.

Having notifications and alarms on my wrist is the main reason I wear one.

  • Anyone find the software on this watch is a little choppy in performance i.e. navigating through menus etc?

  • what's the operating system on these? wear OS?

  • Keen to try this.. is it a good price for a product that's been in the market for 3 years now?
