Motorola G51 5G 128GB $299 (Was $399) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

210

Seems to be a good budget phone for those who want an Australian warranty.
Key features are a 120Hz display, great battery life and 5g. Main drawback for most will be the Snapdragon 480+, but reviews indicate it should be adequate for most day to day use.

Available in Indigo Blue and Bright Silver

    Bugger just bought thanks.

Excellent for signal strength in the bush.

Takes 5 hours for a full charge with supplied charger. Relaxed pace of country life.

  • This really is quite the bargain. Slower charge but slower to drain battery - battery life should be good - the huge screen is a bonus. I bought the G31 (amoled) at $230 from OW and I'm happy.

It really shouldn't be called a 480. Ignore that number and look at the actual specs/performance.

The 480 Plus is more like a cross between a 732G and 750G.

Yep; it'll outperform my 660 thats for sure.

Microsd, 3.5mm jack, and the 6GB ram variant.
      Thats a deal!

    • That's good to know. I find SoC branding confusing even as someone who is literate in technology.

  • This or the Samsung Galaxy A23 for $316?

    • +1

This unless you like Samsung OS over plain android

  • I made a switch from Motorola G9 Plus to a Pixel 5 (Google Refurbished $550 from FB Marketplace) and oh boy, you definitely feel the difference. Just in small things like time it takes to connect to my Taotronics Headphones, or the reach of NFC, or the speed of the fingerprint sensor.

I can see that this is $299 for a brand new phone, but there is definitely a cost that I didn't even notice until I went to the "premium" range.

    • Considering Pixel 6, I don´t think "the speed of the fingerpring sensor" is a selling point ;)

  • Any thoughts on whether this would this be a downgrade, upgrade or sidegrade from an LG V30+?
I really struggle to compare processors etc directly when I'm not constantly on top of it…

Major downgrade as far as camera and audio go.

      • Thanks for this.
I don't really take photos or listen to music.

        How about speed/responsiveness? That's all I really care about in a phone…

        • V30 has also stopped getting security updates…

Try this as a reference for processors.

      • Thanks.

Looks like a sidegrade (apart from battery life) based on that…

  • Isnt there a 20% off moto's promo at moment instore?

    • This is 25% off?

Comparing this with Galaxy A23 for $349. Any feedback?

    • I'm wondering the same.

  • This or the Poco M3 Pro 128/6? I've got a $50 catch gift card so it's a toss up at the moment.

    • IMO if 10w charging isn't a deal breaker for you, the G51 because it has a better screen and a more stock android experience.

      • Thanks good point, would you say this beats both? Realised I have $100 catch GC now & larger size of the G51 a bit of a turn off.

    • +1

I know it's Banggood but Poco M4 Pro 5g 128/6 is going for around $280 delivered and that comes with a 33W fast charging brick.
