Nice card at a good price

  • 3070 around $850 or this one? need one now, and consider to get a new 4080 if stock is available then.

    • This is around 10% faster and futureproof in terms of ram unlike 3070. This will last years longer.

If you wait 4060ti could be slightly faster and 30% cheaper.

      • Thanks, I know that this one is more powerful, but for game optimization, especially DLSS, hard to tell which one will last longer in several years. As plan to buy 4080, so doesn't need to furtherproof and mainly consider the resell value after the release of 4000 series.

          But there's FSR now.

          • @Richardc: it exists, yet to be implemented in games. I think 2 titles so far have FSR 2.0?

          • @Richardc: Yes, FRS 2.0 just released less than a month, but current only have very limited titles, like 12 titles on its release. Not sure how many new games will support it. Another thing is that the FSR can also be used on Nvidia card, which is different from the DLSS. Actually I almost pull the trigger, but after doing some search online it makes me confused, as too many new technologies that affect the comparison.

The 6800 is the batter card that uses less power and has double the ram.. The extra ram will make it easier to sell in the future.. as you may not care about future proofing but future titles will always need more vram.

I was paid for this $1800 before , price drop very quickly

  • Wow, that’s a nice price.

    • but you're not buying it still…

      • Lol, I thought it was an XT. No, still not buying, 4080/7800XT only.

        • it might cost $1889 for 4080.

          • @[Deactivated]: My best guess is 749 to 800 USD RRP. Thats because there is huge difference between 4080 and 4090 performance. But availibility will indicate the street prices.

            • @John Doh: yeah, the official msrp from the states. all comes down to local stock, retailers jack up, scalpers, bots, mining 2.0, etc.

Seems to beat the 3080 about half the time?

    • At 4k, almost never.
      At 1080, sometimes.
DLSS and RT are nice to have tho.

    • I don't know about this channel specifically, but these side-by-side game footage benchmark videos are fake half the time.

I went with a Merc 6800 XT recently, yet to be delivered. Demo model for $1020 with full warranty. Wish me luck.

      Good luck

  • Still slightly above MSRP. Have to HODL.

    Good price though…

    • Whats the AUD MSRP?

      • +1

818 aud if you convert it from the us msrp

        • +5

It's $579 USD but tax is not included in many states, so at the minimum, you should add 10% to it, which comes to the MSRP price
From Kotaku Australia: "In Australia, the Radeon RX 6800 XT will retail for $1049, while the RX 6800 will sell for $949."
So it's even lower than the MSRP ( https://www.kotaku.com.au/2020/11/amd-radeon-rx-6800-xt-6800… )

          • @shl83: If there really is a huge crash in prices after the new gen comes out i may buy a 6800 for $500 :).. if its faster and uses less power vs the 7600xt :) when that drops

            • @vid_ghost: 6800 stock probably won't hold for long. They are same die as 6800xt/6900xt just cut down. But it seems like production is good enough they don't need to cut many down.
I wouldn't be surprised if 7600xt is faster, but also this expensive or higher.

          • @shl83: That's a good point. I totally forgot about the 10% tax. Thanks for the reminder.
