Has anyone else used the redeemyourgiftcard service? How long does a gift card take to show up?

      • +2

I have bought from them more than 15 times, it basically takes a day to receive the egift card. I have once received the giftcard 3 days after I contacted them.

This Asus model is actually really good. It's cool and quiet.

    • +1 for the Asus… it uses the same cooling as the 6600XT but i guess so does the Gigabyte.. I think the Asus would be better overall

  • +8

I'm using this exact Asus 6600 card right now.. plays everything i want (new titles like ELDEN RING) at around 60FPS 1440p zero issues super smooth and only using 100w :) vs the rated 132w now that's what i call an awesome product

Have you experienced any driver issues/instability with the 6600? Friend doesn't recommend AMD cards because of its bugginess but I wasn't sure if that was just a release issue or ongoing whenever new driver updates are released.

      • +1

Historically AMD have had bad drivers, but that is old news and not relevant to AMD and its GPUs now. I guess once you've been hurt by a manufacturer you remember it for years later. Since AMD went Crimson in 2015, they've been reliable.

Techspot said in 2015 "If we were to sum up AMD's goal for Crimson in one word, it'd probably be 'stability'."

      • AMD are pretty good on drivers nowadays (not perfect) but it is trouble free experience for most people.

      • +1

When was the last time your friend had an AMD card? I've had people tell me this, despite never having used an AMD card. I have used both NVIDIA and AMD cards over the years and both companies driver's are far from perfect. On a positive note, both companies have made significant improvements in driver stability in the last 10 years from the garbage they used to release.

      • The older RX5000 series cards had driver issues that were fixed after a few months the RX6000 series has had zero driver issues from the start and before that my old RX470 had zero driver issues over 5 years of use :)

      • There are a group of people who will simply blame "the AMD parts they had in their PC" causing the trouble when there's something wrong with their PC.

Their common comments are "should've gone with Intel/Nvidia instead"

      • I just plugged in my 6600xt paired to my 12th gen i3 on the weekend. And 2 days later im calling friends and family up and raving about how awesome this series is. Lightweight card, cool, powerful and easy to use drivers and it sips power.
I've retired my rtx 2060 and ryzen 3600 now.

+1 to this 6600 too. recommended the 6700XT variant to my bestie. plays everything max 1440p, was on sale for $700 delivered

Prices have a lot further to fall. By all means if you are desperate…

    • Won't these cards eventually be replaced by the new refresh cards if you wait too long?

  • +10

Will bite when 6600xt hits this price :)

1660ti or this one, benchmark seem similar, but this one is 1% better?

    • This for sure

    • +4

The 6600 8gb is around as fast as a RTX2060 8gb Super .. so around 30-40% faster vs the 1660ti 6gb.. you would be crazy to buy a 1660ti 6gb VS a 6600… even with DLSS its not beating the 6600 8gb.. the 6600XT is at a GTX1080ti/RTX2070 level

    • +2

that's not even a comparison lol. in most games the 6600 is 20-50% faster. 1660-1660ti's long gone at this price, unless you can get one for say $200 or less …

    • +6

who told you the RX 6600 is only 1% better than a 1660 Ti? Was it Jensen? Block him on Whatsapp.

    • 31 vs 28 go figure

  • +4

Saw a miner offloading all their cards yesterday (over 16) for about $300 each, so I wonder how much further they will drop

  • +3

For the few people who's hoping to upgrade for Minecraft 1.8 with shaders, especially for distant horizon mod, this is fine, but you ideally want something better. 17 chunks at 1440p will get you 70fps on complimentary shaders but with screen tearing.

I would suggest 6600xt minimum, that way, you can leave vsync on comfortably at reasonable render distance.

    • +2

Wow, I see that it’s fancy minecraft settings, but I always thought people were joking about “will it play minecraft?” ;)

      • Lol I get that image. I used to think Minecraft will run on any potato as well, which, technically, it's true.

But my modded Minecraft is the second hardest Game for my machine to run, after Microsoft flight simulator

    • -1

V sync can't ever be left on comfortably. It causes at least 50ms input delay. I have it off in everything!

      • Oh really? (profanity). I hate the screen tearing so much. God java Minecraft is such a mess. Why can't bedrock be as open, Microsoft?

  • +1

thanks. jumped in. time to replace my 1060.

    • +1

You will be impressed with the new AMD drivers

  • I have been umming and ahhing over this. I need a video card for my new build, but I do want something that will last me a good few years which is not this model. However, this model is cheap enough to tide me over until there is hopefully a big reduction in prices as AMD runs out the 6000 series. But I also wonder if its better waiting a week or two to see if 6600xt's drop under $400 as we do see the Asrock challenger at $449.

Also the games I am currently playing run nicely on my GTX1650m but I would like to get back into some more graphic heavy games.

  • i jumped in, i was waiting for the graphic card price to lowered, they were so expensive. i hope performance of this 6600 could be significant over my existing 1060.

  • How is this compared to my old 1060? Worthy an upgrade or very similar performance?

  • Anyone have any experiences with Asus' Dual cards?
