Good morning all!

I hope everyone awake for our latest deal :)

Last time we ran a deal for CKM50 for $33 it was sold out in a day - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/ckm50

The CKM55 is an updated version from the CKM50 -

Personal take on it is these earphones gives a more acoustic sound than the more solid CKM50,

Earphones, like cloths, is a matter of personal preference - Anyone who more than a pair will understand

So in the past few days, i spent 3 hours, yes no shit - 3 hours to find reviews about this product, because there's rarely any.

If your like me and have nothing else better to do (no thats a lie, i rather play diablo 3) - Then go ahead

As you can see, there's rarely if any decent user or professional review of this product in english….

Audio technica is a japanese brand, so its only fair if you try searching for Japanese reviews.

    It really is a Japanese brand!
    I always thought they were German.
    Not that it matters, I love my ATH-M50's and apart from the coil being wound a little tight they are the best headphones I've owned.

      I know its a fair amount to read, but basically i tried to keep all relevant information in one place with a little fluff on top.

      So far I'm loving these earphones, would be great if anyone from OZB having a pair to give us their thoughts

      I dont think you can compare these to a $300 IE7 Earphone

      But I have compared these to the etympotic HF3 -

      Sound wise, there are clear distinctions - And i will vote the HF3 over these any day

      But honestly, we are comparing a Big Mac paddy with a Kobe Beef steak…

      If your looking for a cheaper earphone, these are the ones for you -

      Price wise it's cheap now, but really the RRP was $89 once upon a time - so they are not no-frills earphones.

      You can judge by the high res photos available - they did spend a fair amount of effort on the premium looks (if not sound)

      I personally have a $500 headphone (which i use everyday), a $150 HF3 and 3x ATH earphones CKM50, CKM55 and BT-03 I use when i go out (Gym, Train ride etc)

    Hi

    Ckm50 have a more solid sound, better suited to rock, bass music

    Ckm55 is more roomy, better for acoustics, pop, jazz etc

    Oh these, my friend bought them for ~$50 in Japan, I tried them and find them generally pretty good for most people's use, albeit it's bass bias and detail loss is it's game.

    To compare bass bias earphones head to head with something in it's class/ price, the Sony XB41ex is a better choice.

      I was listening to David guertta tunes and the vocal and beats are very clear.

      But I don't doubt what you say about the Sony earphones and I can't compare

      Personal preference I like the ckm55 more because it's not as "bassy" compared to ckm50

      Then again that's a personal preference

        Of course you are going to have good and clear sound. These will provide a good standard of listening to a lot of people.

        In terms of quality, with bass bias earphones they will always have a bit of detail loss (it's not a bad thing BTW) but this is compensated with stronger bass that some people will like.

          I use $3 panasonic earbud ones, since I'm not too fussed :P
          I actually tried some in-ear ones and I didn't like the feeling, I personally found it uncomfortable. I'll gladly pay $39 if it's headphones

    my $0.02

    good sound quality, clear vocals and treble but lacking a bit in the mids and bass. When I say lacking, I really only mean compared to those omnipresent sennheiser cx series, and other entry level IEMs. It is by no means bad, and for the price, its a good competitor.

    build quality was average; mine broke after about a year of moderate use. not heavy duty by any means.

    worth it? yes, if you are using stock earphones I highly suggest you give these a shot.

    Last time I ordered the CKS50's that you guys had on sale (I distinctly remember the bright orange website) but the payment processed system you had on the site was quite poor.

    From memory it sent me to Paypal but didn't return me back to the website afterwards, nor did it actually confirm the order was placed. Had to wait a few days before I got an email from Paypal confirming funds had been processed. Has that been fixed up? It wasn't a huge issue, just annoying.
