This is the first time Lenovo is including their new E530 series in their weekly sales, this one is with the 3rd gen i7 processor. Not that special a price for Lenovo but having a quick look around i think it is the cheapest 3rd gen i7 laptop around?

on the site it states its valued at $3257.16! you have to wonder how they come up with these values… did people actually pay that amount originally, wow

    • +9

No, it's a new product that's always been $899. Where that valued figure comes from? Directly out of someone's arse.

      • Dude, I just read that & spat beer on my keyboard…ROFLMFAO!!! :)

    • They say on the site that that price is the sum of the prices if each of the components were purchased separately or some crap like that.

Just ignore it, they have never been sold anywhere near that price.

  • +3

Is it just me or does this seem like an absolute bargain? It's not the RRP that gets me, its the amount of tech you get for $764.15!

    • +2

I think price is OK. Good price if this was a T series.

    • +1

Sorry. I tried clicking the plus button using an iPad. My fat fingers got the neg instead, how do I fix it?

      • Heeeeey fatty boom boom, sweet sugar dumpling.

      • Seems someone else is also fat just like you! Here, have my super thin McCain fingers.

        • :)
well, the button are tiny on the ipad - or its my eyes as well as fat fingers I should be blaming..

      • +2

click votes and there should be a red minus in a circle beside your username, click that and it will revoke your neg.

        • Thanks for that. It's too late now, been more than an hour ago. But I will remember for next time. I looked in the wiki but couldn't find it.

  • That is a lot of computer!

  • Awesome price! can anyone give some insight as to how this would go for video editing?

    • Horribly…obviously

Edit: I should clarify that horribly because the graphics card is a Nvidia GT630

      • Right, though you can probably disable the Nvidia card and use Intel Quick Sync Video. This should blow anything from Nvidia or ATI out of the water*: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/sandy-bridge-core-i7-260…

*For video encoding/decoding. Clearly a midrange ATI/Nvidia card would wipe the floor with the integrated GPU for actual 3D stuff.

  • Wonder if the 2nd generation iCores will start dropping in price too?

  • +2

FWIW the "2GB graphics" is a nVidia 630M. Not that great for gaming, but it's still a very good value laptop.

    • +2

      And that = a GT 540

Only 1 year warranty.. whats the bet parts will be expensive..

    • +1

One year warrenty is the norm. There is only a few exceptions e.g. Asus, and some Dells.

      • -6

yep, any problems after 1 year, whats the bet, it'll be more feasible to buy a replacement laptop..

        • +3

Just about every laptop is that way. By the time it's a year old it's only worth half the price (at most) if it's working, and if it's not then unless it's something simple like the HDD/RAM/CPU then you'd be better off replacing it. It's not something specific to Lenovo / this laptop.

      There always one.

Hilal did mention in another thread that he was 12 years old; it's becoming more & more likely that statement was factual! ;)

  • +2

if you want the i5, it is actually cheaper to config the i3 and upgrade to the i5 than their preset i5 model. :D

  • so whats the 'actual' GPU? Some say 630m and some sat gt540

    • +2

      It's a 630M, but the 630M is a rebadged GT540. So it's both.

  • That's 100 bucks less than how much I paid for it

  • strangely the i5 is better value with a 1,600 x 900 screen option at $697… fully fitted

  • +2

ur only saving about a 100 bucks - dont get caught with the inflated RRP

  • +12

Hmm, its not that much of a saving from 899 market value.
    Recap:
    - Good CPU (PASSMARK better than stock 2500k apparently)
    - Questionable build quality
    - Not great Graphics cards compared to other 899 laptops. Also not much info on NVIDIA N13P-GL
    - Poor screen but cant do too much in this price range.
    - HDD Slow RPM

Honestly I think there will be more deals as Ivy Bridge begins rolling out.
    My hearts excited.
My head is saying wait for Inspiron 15R Special Edition to go on special.
My colon still hasn't forgiven for the curry from last night.

    • Of course computers are going to get cheaper as time go on.
Yes, been looking at the 15R special edition, it is already currently on "special" introductory offer at $899, and will go back to $999 after end of May. Might have to wait a while.

      • 15R SE is best value atm with it's 7730M gfx

and lenovo should've put at least a 640M on this instead of the 630M

        • an extra 140 dollars for a better graphics card…hmm

        • And the 15R SE XFX Limited Collector's Edition with Sharpie Signed Celebrity is better!

    • ROFL great comment

  • this i7 model cannot pick intel centrio module that support widi (wireless display), and the HDD is the slow 5400 rpm.

    :(

    • Yeah, I see that the -cheaper- i3 & i5 'books have faster (if smaller) HDD's than their i7 'book.

(They want you to pay more for a 7200 rpm HDD.)

  • Good deal it seems for a quad core machine. Don't go less than that. Bought the dual core for the same price last year. Tbh I'm not particular fond of the Lenovo. Got it because of its price but I reckon people should do a lot of research. Goes without saying.

  • The i7 has a lower performance hard drive? Why would they do that?

    • So you'll pay more to get a faster (7200 rpm) one…?

  • The VGA is not really that great for games coming out in 2012. I think Lenovo IdeaPad Y570-0862MLM from MSY is better in term of graphic card. http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/notebook.pdf

But, it all comes down to you guys who wanna buy..

  • driver performance booster wtf is that? hybrid? I just want one sdd don't need 1tb of storage, have an external drive for that, how ridic

  • I would've been all over this if there was a 1080p option. 768p on a screen this size is just crap.

There may be some bargains to be had, but be warned that at time of this comment the ordering system is confused and confusing; OzBargainers would be well advised to check the system cost after each option they add. My example:
    - Selected the Core i3 system at $499 w/1366x768 standard screen
    - two different colour 1600x900 screen upgrades listed
    - one is listed as $11 extra
    - other is listed as $55 extra
    - click on the $11 1600x900 upgrade, it adds $55 to the system cost

    Even better:
    - Selected the $539 Core i5 system w/1366x768 screen
    - Same $11 and $55 1600x900 screen upgrades
    - select the $11 one, it adds $73 to the system cost
    - select the $55 one, and it adds $110 to the system cost (!!)

I would have to be really, really motivated to play this kind of Choose Your Own Adventure ordering system for real. How hard could it be, Lenovo, to set consistent prices for upgrades and then add the same price that you list in the menu?

adding the 900p screen also seems to add the WWAN sim card slot, antenna AND WWAN (miniPCI?) card. which for me, is exactly what I want.
