[VIC] Meet Meetballs 12-Pack 240g $0.50 Each (or 2 for $9) @ Coles, Mentone

430

First post. Feedback welcome.

Might be a price error. Retail price $9.50, regularly go on special at $4.75.

Current special is 2 for $9, but the tag shows they are $0.50 each. Bought one and confirmed it is $0.50.

Eat predominantly veg and these taste decent.

Product Description
If you've only been visiting Nonna to tuck into her famous saucy meatballs then it might be high time you invited her over for a change. She'll like these better anyway… Oh and did we mention they're meat-free?
(vegan, plant-based, meat alternative, meatballs, meat substitutes)

    50 cents each… (or 18 for $9)

  • +2

    Which store?

  • +1

Online price says $9.50 each or 2 for $9

    • Gee 9.50 each… No wonder they're always on special/clearance.

  • -1

Coles sometimes does that. It would be close to their best before date. I have had similar experience when buying corriander, It was meant to be $4 but at the checkout it was $0.50

    • +1

So one for $0.50 and two for $9.50 make sense to you if they want to get rid of stock?

    • +1

One was Aug 2022, another Nov 2022 and the rest looked like Feb 2023

  • I don't think it's a price mistake, I can't remember if Woolies or Coles, but their entire frozen alt meat section was on clearance. Possibly many stores following suit.

  • Meet Meetballs ???

      Good for you.

Bamboo is more your thing hey.

    • +1

Well you are a panda… you would eat this.

So, you see a deal you are absolutely not interested in. You click on it, get angry about it, and post a comment about how you don't want to buy it.

I have to admit I don't understand the reasoning here.

  • What store tho?

  • +1

This isn't a deal, it's a price error for that particular store which has likely already been corrected.

I have no doubt that it will scan in as $9.50 at checkout, as soon as someone mentions that it says 1 for 50c on the tag said person will be given it for free (As per their price error policy) and the tag will be changed within minutes thereafter.

    • Thanks for the FB. Should this be posted somewhere else or not at all?

    • +4

How do you know it's price error. Maybe just clearance. Good work op on finding and more importantly posting here

I have spent a lot of my morning considering this whole thing, and this is what I've come up with.

The Meetballs were already on a $0.50 reduced to clear thing to clear out and make room for a new line. On Monday night the store printed out the new specials sent through from head office (see 07/06 date on the ticket), and staff overnight posted the ticket. At some time on Tuesday, the relevant manager has been reorganising the shelves and introducing new lines. Seeing there is still stock left of the RTC Meetballs, they have picked up all the stock and ticket, and moved it over to the ice fridge where they put the runout lines (see RTC line next to the Meetballs, poorly stocked shelves, no standard ticket under the special tickets etc)

This leads me to believe that no matter how many you buy, they will scan at $0.50

I ate this tonight tastes like meat

      Username checks out

      • -1

        not really, should be thecows

  • +1

Isn't that just the unit price?

    PPB, price per ball

    • +1

      It’s the price for a 12 pack. PPB 4.17c.

    • +3

The tag also says 21c/100g. The bag is 240g total. That would mean 1 for 50c means the whole bag is 50c

  • I am all for meat alternative, but after I tried it, all i can say is that this meat ball is 50 cents too much…..I won't even eat it if I am paid 50 cents…..

  • +2

    Contains traces of meat

  • -4

    Why call it meat?

Why call other stuff 'vegan duck' etc.

If you don't want to eat it, why be happy with eating fake meat?

    Call it what it is.

    Eat Ze bugs.
You will own nothing and be happy.
    Uncle Schwab is happy.

Good work op for finding bargain

These are very tasty. Had them a few times.

Ironically I’m always seeing the fake meat on special.
