a smart trainer you can use with virtual riding apps like Zwift, Trainer Road & Wahoo System and it can adjust the resistance
A dumb trainer you will just adjust the resistance manually
@thegreatermamba: they work with most bikes, as they come with all sorts of adapters etc.
