Is it for Macbooks with Steam as well?

    • +7

If you click through the deal link for Steam deals, scroll down to the System Requirements section, it will tell you. In this case it's Windows only.

Also on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch apparently.

Still fun to play after all these years, especially if you played the original.

    • +1

Yes and the first one when it was released here!

Still playing SF series, since 1988, bought 5 but meh.. Waiting for 6 now (if I'm still alive ^_^)

      • +3

Can't wait for 6. I hope it hits better than 5. That was a huge disappointment after 4 being so great.

    • +1

Yep! Played it the other day with my son, he didn't want to stop…

      • +1

Your son is about 40 years old?

        • Haha nope.. I am though 😁

"Street Fighter II improved many of the concepts introduced in the first game"

The original Street Fighter had buttons that changed between light and power attacks by how hard you pressed them. It took us a while at the local shops to work it out. After that everyone beat the crap out of the buttons and they didn't work properly.

Is this the arcade version? Or one of those hobbled ports for the mega drive/Nintendo?

      Guile's invisible throw.

Nintendo version had lower res, poorer sound and several of the less-often-used moves missing for each character.

But it was also better in some ways: the enemy AI was better (less cheap, and less rubber-bandy: arcade gets harder in round 2 if you won round 1) and adjustable, so easier to get into at the easy levels, and more of a challenge at the hardest levels.

It also included the falling-barrels bonus round.

And of course SNES was missing invisible throw and "freeze" (which is good or bad, depending who you ask).

      • Yeah I just played this version now. Definitely way harder

        Still my favourite version… 🤷🏻

lets check, who knows how to do the guile invincible throw ? I AM!
and yes we can throw the opponent during that bonus stage where we destroy cars, etc.

and is that intentional, or some bugs in the programming ?

    • Here's a more comprehensive list of Guile's other glitches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cx0mBow9zjE&ab_channel=Noobn…

I only knew some of these. Stance, handcuffs, soft-reset, soft-lock.

    • All bugs.

The programmer was super embarrassed when he found out, and they were removed from Champion edition and all future versions of the game.

But players loved it and it helped spawn all sorts of rumours about other "secret" things you could do, like turn Ryu golden, make Blanka grow, or fight "Sheng Long".

Purchased Capcom Arcade Stadium on Xbox last year, after a bit of trial and error. I managed to beat the game as Ken - without taking a hit in any round! I've still got the moves (developed from my days on the Mega Drive version with the dpad - I was never much chop at it at TimeZone as the analog stick confused me greatly lol).

    • +2

Guess its what your use to as I grew up playing in Timezone as I knew the manager and got as many free games as I wanted and I cant play with a dpad at all!
And I can tell you the sticks in the arcade where not analogue (they're digital) as I use to help the maintenance guy change them and even took a couple for a friend to make his own controller.

I had a lot of experience at videoshops, Time Zone and a milk-bar that was across the road from my house (many games of SF 2: CE for free because we were friends with the owners lol). I was really crap at the arcade version(s) (in my defence I was 9 when SF 2 first came out) and couldn't make sense of the movements required to get the special attacks going. I gradually learned the hurricane kick for ken/ryu. I wasn't much chop at the Mortal Kombat games a short time later (could do an uppercut that was about it lol). I was far better at the home console version because of the dpad.

When SF IV came out on the Xbox 360, I got an arcade stick + the game as a birthday present thinking - now that I'm older things might compute better….. and the answer to that was a firm no! Actually I improved a lot as Blanka/Zangief (characters that required 360 spins of the analog stick).

Thanks Op, got one for each system I have.

  • why don't I have Street Fighter 2 on PS4, but 1943 air fight instead?:(

  • +1

It's the right price… even though I don't think I'll play it, why not add it to my Steam, XSX, PS5 and NS…

Maybe it'll give me a reason to dust off the RAP.
