Wow look at those crazy ingredients, and the warning is "contains soy"

      crazy ingredients

you're expecting popcorn seasoning to not have yellow food coloring or artificial butter/sweeteners?

regardless, this stuff makes home popcorn taste like cinema popcorn :)

      • Plenty of others don't. Look at Kernel Season's and Urban Accents just to name 2.

  • I have the orange flavacol. What's the difference?

    • this ones "better" :)

ingredients wise pretty sure its just the artificial sweetener

Note that the "artificial butter flavour" used in microwave popcorns could cause lung disease:

    https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/flavorings/exposure.html

Diacetyl is a chemical that was found to be a prominent volatile constituent in butter flavoring and air at the microwave popcorn plant initially investigated by NIOSH.

Overall, current evidence points to diacetyl as one agent that can cause flavorings-related lung disease.

    • +1

not sure that applies to home use quantities or exposure levels…
      Diacetyl exists in regular butter

more risk of the microwave exploding in your house than getting lung cancer from a teaspoon of Flavacol on your popcorn at home

      • Now you got me worried my microwave will explode!

        • It will, and your house will be covered with diacetyl particles.

      • I guess it's a different lung disease, not cancer, but:

Currently, even though there is little to suggest significant risk to normal consumers, a sensible precautionary approach is appropriate. Consumers could take simple precautions to minimize the amount of diacetyl and other chemicals that they breathe. Cooking or popping of products containing diacetyl and other butter flavoring chemicals should be done in a food preparation area with adequate exhaust ventilation. Good ventilation will help to dilute and remove vapors. In the case of microwave popcorn, the popped bags should be allowed to cool before they are opened, which will also decrease exposure to vapors. A very helpful guidance document for cooks has been developed by the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, Safety & Health Assessment & Research for Prevention (SHARP) Program. It contains a number of useful recommendations and can be found on the internet at the following address: http://www.lni.wa.gov/Safety/REsearch/Files/DiacetylFactShee….

  • Has anyone tried this and the original orange flavacol? How do they compare?

  • Why is it in a milk carton? Do you need to transfer it to a glass bottle for proper storage? Does it have a short shelf life after opening?

    • +1

I had a small paperclip over the carton lid (had it one-side open like a milk carton).

Eventually ended up dumping it in a plastic jar with screw lid. That was like 9 months ago, haven't had a problem.

      It's salt, won't go bad.

  • I have a commercial popcorn machine for work. I only use coconut oil, sea salt and popcorn. Everyone LOVES it and the kids don't get hypercrazy. Never bothered with this crud with rubbish ingredients…

  • Did anyone get any shipping info or emails after they ordered? It's been a week and I've received nothing.
