      Ty for the extra links,
Scorptec sale is currently so free shipping on orders over @200

  • The 32 inch version of the Samsung, or this other one?

    https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/monitors/25plus-inch/892…

    • +1

IPS vs VA and flat vs curved… definitely a preference game there…

      • I've been wanting to try out a curved monitor so I'm taking a chance on the Gigabyte - rtings gave it a better score so thats enough for me haha

  • +5

This seems like a steal. Am I missing something? Is it a banger deal?

    • Yep it's a steal. Would buy in a pinch if I wasn't fully loaded with monitors already

    • -1

No you are not missing anything.

I posted this model just a few days before for 399$ and was told the ozbargain favourite Dell monitor is still better. However, the cheapest the Dell have ever been is $379 refurbished many moons ago and the last several times that model was on sale it was going for 400+

As far as I am aware this is a killer price for the feature set that this panel provides at this value.

      • For $399 I would choose Dell over Samsung
But for $299, this is a no brainer

        • Yes thats whats I was getting at. The price i posted it at wasnt very appealing but at 100$ cheaper theres no competition.

          • @Brrrrt: I bought the Dell S2722QC from eBay and they shipped it already lmao
            Oh well 😂

            • +4

@BargainsGrabber: Your model is like 4k haha there quite a bit of difference i say

      • It's still nothing incredible at $299 up against the Dell VA - which I'd personally prefer - but at least it's not a skip.

    • +15

Living in the past bro. QHD is the new FHD.

    • -1

I'd rather tear my eyes out than look at a FHD screen

    • The point of variable refresh rate technology is to allow you to run the games smoothly without needing top frame rates. High refresh rate is just head room but in reality you are free to run your games at 60hz.

    • -2

I stand by my statement, If you want close to 165Hz while rendering 1440p than you're looking at a $1,000 GPU, expensive is subjective but paying $1,000 for Graphics Card isn't the normal yet, regardless of the markets current pricing issues.

The prices are still coming down and next gen is around the corner, by Steam's user numbers the most popular graphics cards are 300 USD budget-mid options.

My remark is that although this monitor is an awesome price, it comes with increased costs on the render performance to maintain its full spec. Anyone on OzBargain looking to get the best value for money are reading the comments before buying, if you're reading down here you should know the cost of what you're buying.

      • +3

First of all on GPU demanding titles, you do need to have at least a 3060ti or 6700xt to maintain higher refresh rate @2k, but those card are around less than $700 by now. Factor in DLSS/RSR, even a 3060, 6600xt or OCed 6600 can drive 2k with reasonable FPS.

and for those who play CSGO/Rainbow 6/Rocket League/TF2 etc. even a GTX1060 can drive 2k@144.

Furthermore given a set amount of budget, the less you spend on monitor, the more budget you'll have on building PC, a well priced 2k monitor is definitely welcomed.

Last but not least, cheapest 1080p144hz screen would usually cost around $200~$250 mark and likely come without height adjustable stand/ 99% sRGB coverage, why wouldn't one just spend $50 more and get a 2k screen with those?

      • -3

You have no clue what ur on about

  • Is this comparable to the Dell S2721DGF?

    • +1

yes. I posted this when it was 399 a few days ago and rtings review had them pretty evenly matched. However some lad on ozbargain said the dell is still better because rtings review methods are outdated. With that said as this is 100$ cheaper so I would say go for this.

      • ozbargain you say, whats that?

  • Seems like a really solid deal I believe it is the same model as the G50A correct me if I'm wrong. But the reviews by https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/samsung/odyssey-g5-s2… shows this monitor to have much better response times then its predecessor since it uses an IPS panel instead of VA panel. It also appears to be on par with the Dell S2721DGF regularly seen here but at the fraction of the cost.

Edit: So it appears the G52A version has HDR400 while the G50A has HDR10.

    • The difference between the two is 50 nits of panel brightness. I'm not sure the model is tuned any differently, because I can't find any info on it at all.

HDR400 is less a standard and more a brightness check for a panel and the ability to accept HDR input.

  • could you do split screen with this monitor? (32" version)

    • +1

Nope, doesn't have PBP or PIP

  • I only game on my weak ass laptop (league) and ps4 pro which won't make full use of this but man am I tempted…

    • PS4 Pro has a max output of 60hz, only PS5/Xbox Series has 120Hz VRR.

      • +1

This is good for a PS5?

      • +1

        Cheers!

  • +1

Tempted, should I pull the trigger on this to use with ps5 and work from home? I'm currently using 4k 60fps samsung monitor.

    • +1

if you needed it you would've already bought it

    • +2

Ps5 can't utilise the extra refresh, qhd would be less sharp for office work.

Lose lose imo, stick with the 4k

      • ps5 can utilise the extra refresh. It can play a good amount of games at 120hz.

        • +8

          Let me rephrase that:
          Ps5 doesn't do 165hz, only 120hz
          Ps5 doesn't do 1440p, it will drop to 1080p

          Either get a 4k 120hz TV or get a 1080p 120hz. This doesn't make sense for a ps5

          • @krisspy: ahh I see what you mean.

      • Yeah, i recall 4K better for PS5.

      • +1

Thanks guys, I was really going to pull the trigger. Saved myself $399

  • +1

Does this have VESA Mount availability ?
Cant seem to tell from the back pictures

    • +1

      yes 100x100

      • +1

Cheers, nice and easy with Tax coming up

  • Regret some of my earlier monitor purchased :-(

  • Thanks op bought one

  • Nice timing, my AOC second monitor just dead pixeled to death and this price point is too good.

  • Thanks!! Grabbed one!

  • +1

27” now out of stock, but 32” still available. Scorptech and PC Case gear appear to have stock still (but + shipping). (Thanks bargainsgrabber)

    • +1

Actually Scorptech has Free Delivery to VIC/NSW/QLD for orders over $200! for EOFY.

PLE was showing Out of stock ETA 14/6/2022 WA Warehouse but has been updated to ETA 17/6/2022 Bentley (WA). Note that you can still Add to Cart and preorder, this gives the option to pickup from any location including Heatherton (VIC).

  • Purchased a 32in, thanks! Seems like a killer deal with free shipping.

    • Same. At this price it’s a nice upgrade from my old Acer Predator until there are more OLED options out there in a year or two to choose from.

  • Is this good for office use?

Is this comparable to Dell S2722 qc or S2721qs?

    • The Dell monitors are better for office work IMO. These are lower resolution (2K), high refresh screens. I think 4k is better for office work.

  • I am thinking of getting one but idk if I want the 27inch or the 32inch. Any opinions as to which one would be a better buy?

    • I am replacing a 30" with this 27" because it's too big. I sit about 60cm from the screen.

The 27" has better pixel density, and size is just right for me.

  • +9

$297.90 with Afterpay code and can pay with discounted gift cards. Only 5 left so get in quick.

    • Thanks! Missed the first deal but got it from your link.

    • +1

Thank you! Saved $1.10 and I don't have to go pick it up either :P

    • +1

Legend, thanks for that, grabbed 2 to replace my aging Acer x34. Definitely some funny business going on with quantity though as its still showing 5 available.

    • Thank you!

OP, pls update post with this link!

  • I wonder what this in 32" is like compared to the Dell G3223D, seems almost identical on paper.

  • DP 1.2 port on a monitor released in 2021. Well done Samsung.

    • +1

      1.2 is enough for 2k165hz?

  • +1

$386.10 with Afterpay code for the 32” model. 9 available.

  • What's a good curved monitor for MSFS?

  • Same price from ple

  • I knew I should have waited, bought the Acer Nitro for $299, which then dropped to $259 two weeks later.
It's still unopened in the box and wondering whether to sell it on if this Samsung is a much better monitor.
Could someone give any guidance the Acer Nitro v Samsung Odyssey as this is my first gaming monitor (want to stick to 27" QHD).

    • +1

Why would the Samsung be better than the Acer? The Acer has more Hz and the rest of the specs are the same, if anything the Acer looks like a better deal especially at $259!

      • On paper Acer does look better but when it comes to monitors especially samsung does tend to have a better reputation. so when comparing specs+brand this does come out above

  • Does this work at 1080p 120hz with VRR on PS5? I returned the Dell monitor because it didn't work with VRR.

  • +1

my order got refunded I so sad

    • What store did you purchase it from? PC case gear still has stock, look at the first comment

  • Can this be mounted / is it VESA compatible? It doesn't look like it but not sure.

    • Yeah 100 x 100 vesa

  • Forgot to post this last night, really is a good deal.

  • -1

Worth noting these are only 8 bit per channel colour which is pretty sad these days

  • Ordered early but mine was cancelled by computer alliance without alternative.. pretty poor from the company.. anyone else got cancelled? Now even scorptec is sold out..

  • +1

Anyone has it already? Any feedback on the quality?

  • God, I really don't need this… but I wish I did.

  • Monitor came today, feels good

  • Anyone have tips for setting up 21:9 aspect ratio? Ultra-wide game view isn't available.

    • If its blacked out, you can access it if you turn off freesync premium, it disables lots of other settings

  • For those who still wants the free shipping from Mwave, stock just came in when I checked earlier
