Should be cheaper! It's refurb! And it only gets to ~370$ with discount codes. I couldn't imagine paying 400$+ for this. Before anyone negs me at least finish reading on…

The CPU (released ~5+ years ago) and RAM is the only thing going for this.

The SSD is entry level capacity but your better off running Windows 10.

Too many people have already pointed out the 12.5" screen size with a resolution of 1366x768. That's probably only useful for intermediate office documents and spreadsheets. Browsing the internet with that resolution, not even gonna try.

I can't explain why Windows 11 even supports any device that is below FHD or at least HD+ (1600x1200 16:9)

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/windows-11-specifica…

High definition (720p) display that is greater than 9” diagonally, 8 bits per colour channel.

The Windows 10 system requirement was 800x600. My old IBM Aptiva had a CRT monitor with 1024x768 - how far we've come - and yes I'm being sarcastic and NOT!

*If you could upgrade the screen to FHD/HD+ at 13" that would make a significant difference, even future proof for web browsing and office stuff for 2-3 years - the chassis looks like it could accommodate that and I'm assuming the integrated graphics could support those resolutions too

No laptop should have a screen below 13" post 2020. If you want one get an ipad or tablet.

    Latitude 7290 Owner's Manual - Technical Specifications

Your better off getting a Refurbed Dell Optiplex desktop/bundle, and just kitting it out with 16GB RAM, a cheap graphics card and that'll give you an FHD experience that can even play older games.

  • More coming in stock?

  • +1

Sorry guys out of stock for the moment. A few might pop up due to cancellations and stock adjustments so stay posted to the listing if you are after this one specifically.

I'll see if we can do another laptop promo before the end of the week. I have some i7 8th Gens'. I'm just trying to suss the best possible pricing before the discounts.

  • +1

These are some decent deals IMO.

Would i use it them? not as a daily machine

Give them to the kids? yep, perfect!

In the garage to use on the car? yep, perfect!

Tuning home theatre gear? again, perfect!

  • Just missed out! Would the cheaper one be any good for my old man who just internet browses (with extended monitor ) and occasional you tube?

    • I find tablets like the Apple iPad or Samsung Galaxy Tab to be a great fit for older generation family members whose needs are just to consume content.

And the best part is much, much less tech support. Makes them feel good too as they don’t like feeling out of depth as they were once experts themselves at whatever they did.

  • Lol. I was expecting more negs on my previous comment to hide it!

Anyway cause the comment is hidden from view by default I thought I'd just leave the link for the Latitude 7290 Owner's Manual - Technical Specifications

and the manual for this laptop if anyone needs it - https://dl.dell.com/topicspdf/latitude-12-7290-laptop_owners…

If the manual is not correct someone can point it out because I don't own this laptop.

  • How is this compare to my Dell latitude e5410 i5 520m? I'm currently using ssd. How does this compare to i5 6300u or i5 8250u or ryzen 5 3500u. My main task is to watch YouTube, movies and doing tasking and video photo editing

  • So far enjoying the purchase. Looks in good nic.

Got a weird issue with external monitor which has me confused

I have two dell latitude laptops (one is a 7290 and the other is a 5310).
I have a USB-C Display Port to HDMI Cable. (https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B085HC43Q9?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_s…)

If I plug the laptop into the 4K 55" TCL TV I get the following result:
    7290 – 4k, 60Hz works well
    5310 – 4k, 60Hz works well

However, when I plug it into my Samsung 32" M7 4K Monitor
7290 – doesn't work, not detected. Have tried both HDMI ports
    5310 – 4k, 60hz works well.

Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions? It has me perplexed (that being said I haven't really kept up with the different DP/HDMI standards

    • Try monitor settings. I recall an option with something like DSS 2.0 or DSS 1.0, defaulted to 2.0. I changed it from 2.0 to 1.0, then it worked… then changed monitor back to 2.0 and it kept working after that. This was on a Mac to a Samsung 4K monitor via dongle.

      • UPDATE: HDCP, not DSS.

  • Hi Calmago

Mine arrived Friday but not in acceptable condition. Bulging case, esc key fell off out of the box, dirty keyboard, had a BSOD on first boot.

    Pics;

    1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Tried to simply pop the esc key back in place, seems to hold but it's not level with the adjacent keys…

    • Did you complain to the seller?

  • Got mine, vents underneath were dusty and looked like bread crumbs on the screen and a bit of stuff on keyboard. Wiped it down and vacuumed the dust and everything else seems to work fine.

    • Yeah - i'm not sure how much "refurbishment" occurred. Fair level of dust in mine too!

Think it was probably a large batch buy at auction, check battery %, reset windows and put in the post.

      • Yeh trust me, I did a full wipe down..not sure what these were used for. Coming from a MacBook Pro ..these screens are definitely very inferior haha

        • Did you inform the seller? Thought they clean up before sending out?
