  • Who does service and repairs?

    • Depends where you live. Normally a lot of the electric scooter shops can do it for you.

There's really not much in terms of servicing. Just keeping the tyre pressures up, applying sealant and when it comes to fixing stuff it's usually replacing a tyre.

      • Applying sealant? For where/what?

      • Gold Coast.

      • I bought one of these earlier in the year from Gearbite and it arrived with rusted screws. I tried contacting Gearbite about it, but no response.

The locking latch is -incredibly- stiff to move to put the handle bar down (needs to be pried before it'll budge), so I suspect this is caused by the same moisture that caused the rust. Might need to try a servicing place to get it looked at (and ensure there's not additional rust damage, especially in the battery).

        • +1

Definitely sounds like some rusting if the locking latch is hard to move. Making a lot of noise on OzBargain or PMing the rep here should get something to happen.

Otherwise it's worth checking around with a few electric scooter deals locally. Since you're in Melbourne it would be worth trying pedl. I've purchased from them before but no experience with their repairs. Eozzie has good reviews too.

          • @Clear: Excellent point, I'll poke them to see what they suggest.

Pedl look to be in Syd, but Eozzie looks good. Either way, it's a fun scooter - even if I can't pack it away!

            • @Finner: eozzie,, yeah nah.. do your research and ull know to stay away from that… gumtree repairer instead

              • @Atmot: Care to share your experience?

    • Also Youtube is your friend, there's a lot of DIY guides to fix these scooters.
better than paying a teenage $80 an hour to under a couple of allen key bolts.

There are scooters for kids like Segway. I wouldn't recommend for kids riding at 25km/h for safety reasons for them and people around them.

    • Yes I shared those a few days ago. Hence why I said …

good for the kids if you're looking for something with more range and power.

      Applies to teenagers as well.

      • -3

Still it's a no no for kids

        • +2

Thanks for the advice Karen. I'll update the deal

@Clear: You don't care about their safety but their parents are. Cheer salty Kevin.

            • -1

@DraggyX: I'd happily let my teenagers ride responsibly on an escooter. Many let their kids and teens go on Beam and Neuron scooters that go faster unfortunately.

              • -1

@Clear: Yea we can see them all on over the news, under 18yr old, such great parents and proud. Brought bad images for e-community.

                • @DraggyX: That's called bad parenting. For me I'd restrict the scooters speed to something lower if I was concerned about the maximum speed. That's the great thing about Xiaomi and Segway scooters or even the more expensive brands. Speed and power limiting.

                  • +1

@Clear: It doesn't have a parental lock, so all the kid has to do is press a button and get full speed.
I have this scooter. I wouldn't recommend it for young kids.
                    Good price though!

                    • @HONDA4LIFE: Custom firmware is very easy to load on these scooters and there's plenty of guides around. This is the go to site for adjusting the settings. I used it to increase the power to handle hills better.

                      • @Clear: It may be easy, but it voids warranty, has the possibility to brick it and reduces battery life.
I weighed it up and decided to stay stock

                        • @HONDA4LIFE: Easy to change back if you ever had to return under warranty and if we're decreasing the speed because of untrusting kids then it'll improve battery life.

                          • +1

                            @Clear: You win 😜

                          • @Clear: I have a question for you Clear/OP, i found a segway ninebot max gen 2 g30L for $679 at a local pawn shop - 40km range 25km/h speed, what would you offer for it? I’m still on the look out for a scooter

                            • @Golly1153: If you can turn it on in the shop and pair it to your phone with the Segway app you'll be able to get important stats, like how many KMs it's done. A concern would be that if there's wayyyy too many km's then the battery could be degraded. There's also the possibility that there's a fault which the app might tell you.

Does it look in reasonable condition? And does it come with a charger? If it lacks a charger it's likely stolen.

  • We have these and love them. I bought the 10" tyres from Aliexpress and it made a difference for the ride. The Mrs doesnt care and likes the standard ride.

  • Thanks OP, bought one.
