  • Try to buy ultimate card using coles master gift card got stopped at the checkout, insist to try it out but transaction got declined?

    • Me too. I haven’t set pin and declined message said contact bank. I will set pin and try again in the afternoon

      • I haven’t set the pin either. Let me know how it goes with the pin

      • How'd you go after setting a pin?

        • You don't need to set pin separately. Any pin you use will be the card pin.

  • Before I go use my money and buy cards anyone know what the limit is for jbhifi….quantity of cards you can use in one transaction? Can you use online or do you have to go instore when using multiple cards?

    • Can use as many as you want but need to do it in store.

    • As many. I have done it 20 gift cards in one transaction. ($50 x 20) = $1k but it is a long time to process it.

    • +1

The answer is in the FAQ linked in OP's description.

JB Hi-Fi is specifically called out in both the instore and online sections.

      • +1

Whoa, just saw the image of the one transaction receipt. LOL

  • Caution: - Woolworths Metro stores in Melbourne CBD (except QV and Waterfronts - Collins Street, Docklands) is offering 7.5% discount on Home $100 gift cards.

Bought 20 gift cards (10 cards under my account and 10 cards under my hot chick's account) at QV and Waterfronts.

    • same in Sydney, only 7.5%. don't know why it happens

      • If you see the Woolworths logo with "Metro" on it, that is 7.5% discount offer. If just Woolworth logo "W" only, and advertisement says 10%, your all good to go and buy it.

  • Hi there, I was wondering if anyone knows if there is an easy way to convert these cards into specific store gift cards into a single value gift card to make future transactions easier
etc converting 10 x " The ultimate gift card " into a single $1000 the good guys giftcards

    • Did you get reply? I have same question in my mind. Going to try 25x ult home to convert at jb?

    • Did you read this?

If so, you would have seen that there’s no easy way to convert multiple Ultimate Home gift cards into a small number of TGG gift cards.

      • TGG do not appear on Ultimate gift card’s gift card exchange portal.

      • TGG sell TGG gift cards online through a third-party (True Rewards), so it is not possible to use an Ultimate Home gift card to purchase a TGG gift card through the TGG website.

The only options you have are:

      • Go to a TGG store and ask to purchase a TGG gift card using your Ultimate Home gift cards. (This will only be allowed at the discretion of staff, so beware!)

      • Go to a TGG store and pay at the store for the item(s) you want using Ultimate Home gift cards. I don’t think there’s a specific limit the number of Visa cards you can redeem in one transaction in a TGG store.

      • Call the TGG sales line and see what they can do. I’ve heard they may be able to redeem multiple TGG gift cards or even multiple Ultimate Home gift cards in one transaction, so I’d suggest you call the sales line and discuss your options.

Keep in mind you can only redeem a maximum of two TGG gift cards (and one Ultimate Home gift card) per transaction on the TGG online store, so if you’re going down the online route, plan accordingly.

  • Anyone successfully purchased with coles mastercard cards? before i go and try it

    • Yes I did tonight

      • How long did it take for your Coles MC to activate?

        • I bought the Coles MC at 11:30 this morning, I think it took about 4 hours

    • Went through this afternoon.

  • Hi , sorry to bother everyone can someone please teach me how to use coles master card to get wws gift card ? I went to wws today , the staff won’t let me do it … I only can think I can use self check out . But one card only $250 . If I get 10 gift card , how can I pay 2 master gift card ? Thanks so much

    • Tell them this is just mastercard and not gift card, but you want split payment.
I used three cards at service desk checkout.

      • Hi , I told them this is mastercard , but they said this is gift card , and we can use gift card to buy gift card 🥲 when you check out by yourself, the staff need to help you for paying 3 cards ? Thank so much .

        • I used standard checkout and no issue

    • As per comment above, just ask for split payment and that you are paying with a MasterCard. If there are plenty of Ultimate cards available, you can kindly ask if they will allow you to buy more than 10 Cards. You will just need to do separate transactions of per 10 cards. However, this will probably depend on the staff member you get. To use the MasterCard, just swipe and select Credit and when it asks for a PIN just push enter, this only applies if you did not set up a pin. When using your Ultimate card in store, just swipe and select Credit and then enter the pin that is on the back of the card, you will need to scratch it to reveal CVV/Pin.

      • Thanks so much , I will try again tomorrow at different Woolworths , hopefully will work for me .

      Did you read this?

If so, you would have seen that there’s no easy, guaranteed way to convert multiple Ultimate Home/Teens/Kids gift cards into a small number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards, especially since JB Hi-Fi do not appear on Ultimate gift card’s gift card exchange portal.

The only options you have are:

      • Go to a JB Hi-Fi store and ask to purchase a JB Hi-Fi gift card using your Ultimate Home/Teens/Kidsi gift cards. (This will only be allowed at the discretion of staff, so beware!)

      • Go to a JB Hi-Fi store and pay at the store for the item(s) you want using Ultimate Home/Teens/Kids gift cards. I don’t think there’s a specific limit the number of Visa cards you can redeem in one transaction in a JB Hi-Fi store. Someone once redeemed 81 TCN/Ultimate gift cards in one transaction in a JB Hi-Fi store…

      • Go to the JB Hi-Fi website and attempt to purchase a JB Hi-Fi gift card using an Ultimate Home/Teens/Kids gift card as a payment method. Having said that, JB Hi-Fi has a tendency of randomly rejecting/cancelling such orders (either before or after redeeming funds from your Ultimate Home/Teens/Kids gift card), so this is quite an unreliable route.

Keep in mind you can redeem an unlimited number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards (and one Ultimate Home gift card) per transaction on the JB Hi-Fi online store, so plan accordingly.

      • Thanks wookie. The reason I want to convert these are for my piece of mind. Ultimate home card looks very UNRELIABLE.
Actually after purchasing 25 cards from woolis I got back home and checked the balance for all but noticed 5 cards were dud. I went back to stores and got it replaced. So you see I was about to lost $500 on the back of $250 profit earned during this exercise. So beware of this. Check your balance before putting these cards away as I did and luckily saved $500 loss. Ensure carrying the receipt of purchase until the usage of these cards.
Last night I was just rechecking the balance on website and noticed 8 cards again showing dud. I called the customer service who confirmed cards are loaded but it appears an error with website.
So in a nutshell I don't want to be in panic until I use these cards so best way is to convert to some reliable jb or good guys so I execute my purchase later.

        • +1

Peace of mind is my way as well, usually (especially) if you managed to get $100 HOME, what I usually do is go instore @JB and ask the staff at the counter I would like to load $500 into JB gift card. Then proceed to say I’d like to pay in $100 intervals. Therefore you’d only be doing 5 at a time (I think 5 is a reasonable number not to hold up the queue but if it’s a quiet time you might be able to ask for more); just make sure to scratch and prep the cards beforehand.
Though as Wookie said this method is hit and miss, if you find an unhelpful staff just come back another shift or another store, you bound to find someone helpful.

      • +1

Hey Wookie, I'm trying to buy a JB gift card online with an Ultimate Home card. What would I enter for the name on card? The card doesn't have one…

Edit: All good, seems it doesn't matter, I just put "PREPAID CARDHOLDER" and it went through.

        • +1

Yep, for future reference, you can input anything as the cardholder name for when you use prepaid Mastercard or Visa gift cards for online transactions. Payment processors cannot verify the name you provide against the name on file for the cardholder, because such cards do not keep cardholder names on file!

Have you actually received the JB Hi-Fi gift card?

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Ahh I see, thanks. And yep it just came through 5 mins ago after a 20-minute wait.

    • I was able to use a $100 and a $50 Ultimate Home card to purchase the equivalent digital JB HiFi e-gift card. But a third $100 had the order cancelled twice due to verification fail, although it did not place a hold on the funds. I was also rejected when trying to merge the 2 JB HiFi cards and a 3rd I already had, which I found a bit strange.

      • +1

I was also rejected when trying to merge the 2 JB HiFi cards and a 3rd I already had, which I found a bit strange.

        That's not entirely surprising.

JB Hi-Fi stopped allowing customers purchasing JB Hi-Fi gift cards using JB Hi-Fi gift cards around December 2020. It's also the last clause in their gift card terms and conditions.

        • +1

aha, I see. haven't done it in several years, didn't realise it had changed. thanks

  • I got no problem with my 15 gift cards redemption at JB HI store in Melbourne CBD this afternoon. Smooth transaction and no other complaining customers behind me.

    • Wanting to do similar at TGG. Anyone confirm successful in the past week?

      • TGG, nah.

I work in CBD and the reason there are lot of JB HI FI stores in CBD. TGG in CBD, nah.

  • Can anyone help please: I bought two of the Coles Mastercard git cards (10% off now) and I went to Woolworths to buy the Home ultimate gift card so I can use it in JB-HIFI but I have been told that they are exclude from this 10% offer? And now I'm stuck with two of the Coles Mastercard git cards. Any suggestions/solutions? I'm assuming we can't use them online?
    Thanks.

    • Kids, Teen and home are still eligible for 10%off.

    • No they are included I got 10x 100$ today at 900$ paid with coles mastercard

    • but I have been told that they are exclude from this 10% offer

Whoever told you this is either
      1. A pleb
      2. Jelly sook

      It works.

Alternatively, load it onto your ATO/CouncilRate/Private Health insurance account online at their respective websites for easy offloading of funds to pay your future bills

Just an update i manage to convert 25 x uhgc to jb hi fi without an issue at booragoon jb stores.

    • Any complaining customers behind you in the queue at cashier's point?

      • No complaints. As the stores was little quiet during mid noon.

  • I can't find any link of woolworths suggesting it is 10% off ? Is it store only ! And will it work in big w ?

Also when click on go to deal link it forwards me towards the catalogue option of my local store where in catalogue I can't find anything about this deal !

Update :- Found in store of woolworths. Missed out on coles mastercard as I can't see them available anywhere in the whole city.

  • Does anyone know what a the denominations? TGG website says its only max 2 cards used at one time and I'm looking at spending 1k, so I hope there are $500 cards?

    • +2

Sounds like you want Ultimate gift cards that can be redeemed at TGG?

There's only one Ultimate gift card that can be redeemed at TGG; the Ultimate Home gift card. The only denominations of the Ultimate Home gift cards sold at Woolworths and are part of this deal are $50 and $100.

If you want to redeem multiple Ultimate gift cards at TGG, take a look at this comment to figure out whether this gift card deal will work for you.

  • Be careful friends, I lost $50 worth of food from Menulog with Ultimate Thanks. I ordered through the website, paid by card. Sunday afternoon standing in the vicinity waiting for the bummers to deliver food. Called Restaurant and they said its passed it onto Menulog and Menulog emails me saying the food was delivered. This is ridiculous, somewhere along the lines someone is responsible and I think its Ultimate Reward as wife purchased the gift Card from them

Perhaps there is one more easy way to workaround jb or goodguy gift cards.
With uhgc buy an item in the store worth the card value
Box pack return it next day under no question asked return policy.
They will pay you back in their own gift cards :)

  • Looking at buying TV from goodguys for under $900.

    Would this work.
    Get $250x4 coles Mastercard
Then buy $1k ultimate gift card in woolies

Purchase tv at goodguys via cashrewards 12% cashback?

    • +2

      Get $250x4 coles Mastercard

Hopefully your local Coles stores have stock.

Then buy $1k ultimate gift card in woolies

It is a question of whether:

      • Your local Woolworths stores have Ultimate Home gift cards in stock, and
      • The staff at your local stores will let you spend $900 on gift cards, and
      • The staff at your local stores will let you purchase gift cards using Coles Mastercard Gift Cards.

Woolworths' checkout systems will let you use Coles Mastercard Gift Cards as a payment method for any gift card at Woolworths, but some staff may intervene if they notice you using a prepaid gift card and tell you it is not allowed. (Remember, Coles Mastercard Gift Cards operate on the Mastercard network, so if you're at a self-service checkout, select card (split payment), not gift card (split payment)).

Woolworths' checkout systems will let you purchase a maximum of ten gift cards per transaction, but it again depends on whether staff will let you do this, as some stores are quite strict on the number or amount you can spend in one visit. (They're usually worried about gift card scams or one person buying up a large number of Ultimate gift cards in one go.)

Purchase tv at goodguys via cashrewards 12% cashback?

      No, that won't work.

Ultimate Home gift cards operate on the Visa network, so you can only redeem 1x Ultimate gift card in one online transaction.

To get around this, you'll need to go to a The Good Guys store and purchase a The Good Guys gift card (or two) using your Ultimate Home gift cards as a payment method (assuming staff will let you do this). You can redeem 1x Ultimate gift card in conjunction with up to two The Good Guys gift cards in one online transaction (although if I were you, I would use all Ultimate Home gift cards to purchase up to two The Good Guys gift cards at a The Good Guys store first).

Take a look at this comment (and the FAQ item I linked to in that linked comment) for more information to help you decide whether you want to put in the effort to get this gift card offer to stack with the 12% Cashrewards cashback offer.

      • +1

        Thank you so much.

Keen to know who has recently done this. (It's common at JB, but haven't seen its its common at GG)

  • One more question, Is $50-500 home ultimate card on sale ?

    • $250 is the Max. But the issue is if you can find them!

      • Yes , I can find home unlimited card $50-$500 . But I can’t check it unless I buy it….

    • The deal description says it is not on sale, but you could always scan one at a checkout to see whether it is actually not on sale. You’re not obliged to purchase a gift card if you have simply scanned it, especially if you’re only wanting to do a price check.

    • +1

No. Doesn't scan for 10% discount.

    • 100% not part of the discount deal. In the Terms and Conditions for the Ultimate Card deal it excludes the variable denomination cards.

      • Fark! Just sunk $500 into one

        • I was speaking to my local (middle Camberwell) Woolies person and she was telling me how she had to reverse $1200 worth of gift cards because the person used the variable denomination gift card instead of the fixed one. This was reversed right on the spot when that person bought it so not sure how they will treat you if you went back a few days later.

  • eats or studens for me

  • I bought the Coles Gift Mastercards then went to Woolies to buy the Ultimate and their system would not allow me to do so. The attendant had told me you can't buy gift cards with gift cards but since this sis a 'Visa' card I insisted they try. Got error message. Not sure if I should have waited longer than 2 hours before trying as someone above said it takes 4 hours for them to load??? I ended up buying the Ultimate without using the Coles Visa gift cards thinking I couldn't use them. Can anyone verify if it should have worked or why it didn't?? THanks

    • Worked for us with the Coles MasterCards. Maybe the Visa ones you got are not compatible?

      • Sorry write VISA in error. They are Coles Mastercards that I bought.

    • Need to wait the 4 hours

    • It takes a minimum of 4 hours for cards to have the card activated on InComm’s systems (and also says this in the Coles Mastercard gift card deal’s fine print). However, in my experience, you may need to wait at least 4.5 hours for a card’s full balance (particularly the $250 cards) to be available for redemption.

I’m extremely confused as to why you’re talking about Visa cards, as the Coles Mastercard gift cards operate on the Mastercard network. There are no prepaid gift cards on sale at Coles this week that operate on the Visa network.

I’m assuming you/staff selected Card or Card (Split Payment) at the checkout? If you/staff selected Gift Card or Gift Card (Split Payment), the checkout go into a mode where you can only redeem gift cards issued by Woolworths Group. (However, even if you tried using a gift card issued by Woolworths Group to pay for the Ultimate gift card, you’d get an error message.)

There are multiple likely reasons for the error:

      • You/staff selected Gift Card or Gift Card (Split Payment) at the checkout. Question: when you went to swipe the Coles Mastercard gift card on the EFTPOS terminal, did the EFTPOS terminal show a contactless logo, or did it say something like “Enter eGift Card number or swipe gift card”?

      • You did not wait at least 4 hours before attempting to redeem a Coles Mastercard gift card.

      • You did not enter the correct PIN associated with the Coles Mastercard gift card.

      • Woolworths has updated their systems within the last day or two to block the bank identification numbers associated with the new Coles Mastercard gift cards. (Highly unlikely, but always a possibility. Woolworths actually block some EFTPOS gift cards and OnlyONE Visa gift cards being used as payment methods for some gift cards at Woolworths.)

      • +1

Hi WookieMonster. Firstly I am sorry but I incorrectly noted VISA when you are right, they are Coles Mastercards. Thank you for your very detailed response. It has been very helpful for me to understand why it didn't work yesterday since I bought the Coles Mastercards and then tried to buy the Ultimate Gift Cards from Woolies within the next 2 hours. Frustrating that I didn't know there was a time lag past what the register took to do its thing and activate the cards before spitting out my docket. I bought the Coles MCD specifically to buy the Ultimate cards as was suggested by numerous OzBargainers above. Given the staff were adamant that I couldn't buy gift cards using a gift card even if it was a Coles Mastercard gift card, I went ahead and paid for them with my own credit card. Big lessen learned and I appreciate your time to fully explain the probable reasons for it not working. Many Thanks, Cindy

        • No worries!

I’ve been previously told a couple of times by Woolworths staff the same story you were told (i.e. you cannot use any gift cards (including prepaid gift cards) to purchase any gift cards at Woolworths).

Some tips for next time you’re at Woolworths and wanting to purchase a gift card using prepaid gift cards:

          • Make sure the prepaid gift card is not a prepaid gift card that is restricted by Woolworths’ checkout system.

          • Make sure the prepaid gift card has sufficient available balance.

          • If you have a prepaid gift card that either only permits signature verification (e.g. Vanilla Visa gift card) or has signature verification enabled by default (e.g. Coles Mastercard gift card), don’t worry about actually signing the back of the card (or in the case of the Coles Mastercard gift card, setting a PIN). Woolworths currently waives the requirement for actually providing a signature, so all you need to do with those type of cards is swipe and press Enter without entering any PIN. If you have already set a PIN on a Coles Mastercard gift card, I think you’ll actually need to use that PIN before payment can be authenticated, but that is something I will get around to testing.

          • If you’re at a standard checkout (i.e. a checkout operated by a dedicated staff member), make sure you tell staff that you want to pay by card (or card (split payment).

          • If you’re at a self-service checkout, make sure you select card (or card (split payment). I prefer going to a self-service checkout at a busier time of the day, as it is less likely a staff member will be looking at the payment method(s) I use.

  • I just received my Hiver card today, this deal should stack with Hiver cashback right?

    • +1

      It will.

  • The Kids Ultimate gift card, does putting the barcode numbers in the Stocard app work for JB shopping in store?

    • +2

      Nope.

The barcode is only used when you purchase the gift card at Woolworths.

If you want to add the card to your phone, you'll need to add it to Apple/Google/Samsung Pay the same way you add a credit/debit card. You can then redeem the card from Apple/Google/Samsung Pay the same way you redeem a credit/debit card.

  • I have a couple Ultimate Eats eftpos cards in my Apple digital wallet. Does anyone know how to transfer these to a new iphone when I no longer have the physical gift cards available anymore? It's asking for a 3 digit CVV number on the new phone.
