    • Nice card.

    • OOS now

      yuck 10gb

Crypto is crashing and 40 series are coming…HODL

    • valid point

    • +1

Crypto crashing so hard now. So we can expect better offers daily.

      • +2

the 6900 series was never really a crypto mining card anyway. for mining basically no difference between 6800, 6800xt, 6900xt for things like ethereum. probably the main reason why it has returned to sane levels the fastest.

    • Apprantly rumours got changed from mid july release to October release. I will still HODL tho.

  • +8

Even though it's the cheapest yet, I don't think there is a floor in the near term. Will hold off for now.

    • +2

I need a new GPU for my new build but think I am going to hold off too and put up with my 1050ti and xbx

    • +2

there definitely will be a floor and I don't think we can be far off it. basically they will stop making them if the price gets too low and the 6900XT's are already one of the low volume cards. Basically as soon as there is enough stock of next Gen then these will disappear (if not before).

      • Agreed. I think ~$1200 AUD is in line with where the original US RRP should have been - $800 USD, $150 more than 6800 XT RRP.
3080, 3060TI and 6800XT were best value and are the ones which are falling the least.

    HODL peeps

  • +7

    I caved.
Well, I knew it was coming and bought one at 10:01

  • I have one of these and playing Warzone for whatever reason I get micro stutter. Google tells me I am 1 of many. Just an FYI

    • +1

I usually just use a fresh ssd with fresh windows just to rule out any system issue before committing it is hardware issue

    • I was in a similar situation with Warzone on one PC. I switched PCs and put the GPU in a different machine, with same type of motherboard and CPU, but with a fresh install of Windows 10. The micro stutter was gone.

    • +2

I have just recently built a computer with this exact 6900XT.
I am getting excellent performance, no micro stutters, buttery smooth (180+ fps in 1440p).

I'd try DDU and or fresh install Window. I am currently running Windows 11. Also it may be important to check ur DP cable and that Freesync is enabled.

      • What's ddu

        • +3

Display Driver Uninstaller - A must use if having graphical issues

    • -2

same, pretty sure it's an amd thing, I get 200fps avg in pubg, still have stutter for no reason

      • Doubt it! As I said before, I switched my 6800XT to almost exactly the same spec machine, but with a fresh install of Windows and the micro stutter was gone. People always like to blame the hardware first but haven't even attempted to clean up their previous driver installs.

        • +2

Nah its a warzone map thing if you do some reading. I am very knowledgeable in IT. Always DDU my drivers. I have minimized it which as most youtubers say is the best thing you can do in Warzone. I have not tried a fresh windows but I will move to W11 shortly so will see. I am not against AMD I have owned a 6800xt previously and it was flawless.

6900xt specifically have an issue. It is even listed as a known issue in AMDs latest beta licence.

          • -2

@hessels92: “I am very knowledgeable in IT”

The more someone knows about IT, the less they’ll harp on about how much they know.

            • +1

@ctg: lol. I understand what you are saying but it is my profession and I am no noob around this stuff. I am not harping. I am saying if you check the latest AMD driver release it is a known bug. Do your research as well. The card is a beast and eats everything else up however it is widely known that micro stutters can occur in WZ.

        • -4

how did you just assume that I didn't attempt to do a fresh insall windows?
I did everything I could including swapping the drive that holds the game.
IT IS A FACT AN AMD ISSUE STOP ASSUMING

    • Yeah it's not the GPU fella… 6900XT is a beast! I have one and WZ plays smooth as silk. 160FPS 3440x1440p. Run MSI Afterburner or AMD Radeon stats overlay and keep an eye for any blips when micro stuttering. I had weird crashes and micro stuttering happening when I first got my 5900X/6900XT/32GB RAM combo. Turns out it was some Patriot RAM, RGB software that installed inself on the sly with another software package. Caused all sorts of weird conflicts with Corsair software I was running. Put me off RGB anything for good. My next build will be a plain black steel box for sure!

    • I get that with my 1080 an nvm and 8400 still

    • Biggest issue I see with stutter is a lack of ram..

16gb of ram on a game that happily uses 13gb( last I played)

Is definitely going to cause problems

  • Surprisingly I haven't noticed much of a gpu dump from miners considering the drop in crypto…

    • +1

they wont dump until eth merge

    • +1

most of the gpu's are bought by the big guys, but they are fine for a while, almost free electricity + some of them would hedge at the top and they're covered for a year at least, some of them are still making bank.

plus they spent so much money on marketing people actually believe this stuff now, where as last cycle everybody thought it was a pump and dump that wouldn't recover

    • +1

It's really only the small guys that mostly dump their cards. It's profitable for the big guys overseas, where electricity is still cheap and cooling is not an issue. Crypto is currently in a bear, but watch the prices go up on the second hand market for previous gen GPUs again once it's goes back to a bull market.

  • fanks OP. Just bought 10 and one for my 8 yr old son

    • +8

Only got a 6900XT and not a 6950XT for your son? Pretty sure that's child abuse

  • +1

Anyone have coil whine on this exact card. Considering rma mine however umart charge a fee if it’s not a valid issue?

    • If you limit your fps do you still get coil whine?

      • Yes

        • +1

Yes I do Ow3n. Also purchased recently from umart. How long have you had it?
It does seem to settle now after a few weeks. I have heard there is a bit of a burn in process with these cards. How much does Umart chagre?

  • Anyone know why the 6900XT is priced lower than the 6800 XT for the same Tuf line?

    • retailers stagger drops to keep prices higher for longer

    • +2

6800XT's are generally overpriced against US RRP where we are seeing a lot of 6900XT's well under RRP.
My understanding is 6800xt was considered good value, so the market bought them up. 6900xt wasn't well priced, didnt sell as well and now they need to get rid of them, at much lower margin it would appear.

From AMD's perspective, its the same chip, so either way as long as they move chips, its good for them.

    • Waiting to see if the price of 6800 XT will drop accordingly as I feel 6900 XT is such an overkill plus I hope not to upgrade PSU from my current 750W.

      • It seems not. Have been waiting for months myself, stock seems to be much less available, so less bulk discounts to hand around.
750W should be fine if you're not pushing +200W for your CPU.

      • 6800xt seems unlikely. I think 6900xt prices are dropping due to excessive stock needing to be cleared and rebates being provided so the seller doesn't make a loss.

        • If they don't clear 6900XT stock, their 6800XT will just sit on the shelves? Not sure how they can continue the anomaly in pricing unless they stopped selling 6900XT altogether.

  • This or RTX3080 12GB?

    • Someone asked this same question in another deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12261675/redir

    • How cheap is a 3080 12gb?
This for a bargain, that for dlss / RT

      • FSR2 is comparable to DLSS2, so I’d only recommend the 3080 if you really value a few extra FPS in raytraced titles.

        • +1

It's only in a couple of games.
I don't like / use DLSS, in most games, quality isn't for 1440, shouldn't need it, RT aside.

    • +1

RTX3080 12gb is the better card but it is not a $300-400 better, if they were the same price, get the 3080 12gb but $ to performance the 6900 currently wins.

    • If you're playing at 4K, then the RTX 3080 12GB for sure.

For 1440p, 6900 XT is king.

FSR 2.0 is decent for what it is, but DLSS still has the edge in many situations.

  • If only there was a Corsair waterblock for this, they've forgotten about AMD…

  • beautiful

  • How is AMD's ray tracing lately and DLSS any better yet?

    • +1

FSR2 is really promising. I won't say that it beats DLSS, but it's comparable now, each is better in some games and vice versa.
So if you gonna HODL, then do it if u want the next gen GPU. But if u want a high-end gpu right now, then this one is good.

    • +1

No better, but few games have made it really worth while (resolution dependant for DLSS).
For example, Hitman 3 added RT, some scenes look very similar, some are taxing the FPS to half or lower.
Its quite interesting, when FSR2 is more availalbe, the difference will become 10-20%, which can be the margin that the 6900xt has over the 3080 in many titles.

Its all swings and round abouts. Nvidea is def the safe all-rounder, I've gone AMD this time, I've yet to dip my toe.

  • To think I nearly bought an rtx 3070 for $1200 a few months ago…

    • well people get a 3060 for 1k for 6 months ago I believe

  • +4

I purchased on of these today, my 2c:

Here is the last 3 months of these cards (includes the TOP model)
    14/6 1148 (this deal)
    13/6 1199
    27/5 1265
    27/5 1269
    24/5 1269
    24/5 1349 (with PSU)
    23/5 1399
    12/5 1399
    30/4 1399
    6/4 1599
    18/3 1614

Prices dropped fairly heavily since Jan when a good deal was 1900. the April / May pricing seems to reflect what the cost of the card should have been.
We are well below the 1599 Aus RRP, which was stupid, so was the 999 US RRP. The Original RRP of the 6800xt was 650 USD. If the 6900 XT had been 800 USD, then we would be around RRP or just under by the time taxes are added, so in some ways this is where the card could / should have been in the 1st place. Little stock of the 6800xt means I am buying a better card than I want, but the price is right, so why not…

With all the HODL and Crypto and next gen release talk - I don't see these going much lower UNTIL the new cards are out and in good stock. Could be soon, could be stock issues again.

Maybe I'm wrong and in 3 weeks these will be $999. We are all guessing, but I've spent a lot of hours tracking the pricing and don't see the magic crash many are predicting, I think its happened and the last dribbles are what we are seeing, late sales of stock that didn't move as well and Asus / Gigabyte moving surplus. There are only a few models in these price wars ,we are seeing little from the rest: EVGA, Saphire, XTX, PowerColor, Asrock, MSI.

    • I think 1k will be the threshold for the natural price drop of this card. After that we have to wait market reaction after new gen release to see if it will drop further or go straight to OOS at that price.

  • -5

Why do people pay over $1000 for gpu again? Pay $1000 for the PSU it'll last a lot longer.

    • Just for your reaction

      • -4

For coil whine by the read of things. If you pay this much for a gpu why not pay 100k for an i30? Totally serious (it's a gpu not a whole pc)

        • Because people want or need what these level of cards can do? Quite simple really.

        • +4

          Your arguments lack logic.
I can afford to spend my surplus income on this. I choose to.
          What's it to you?
How is the price of a GPU relevant to a car, which I am not in the market for?

          • -1

@beeze: I can afford to as well. It affects me directly because companies will charge what idiots pay.
