Capacity ( of 1Tb) needs to be added to title and description. Weird it isn't in the actual product name.

    • It's there for me? You're referring to the ebay lsiting right?

      Thanks, fixed.

Thanks OP. Just picked up my Series X today, activated Ultimate GP till January 2025 from the other deal, now have this. Winter hibernation will be easy.

Also - it came to $272, if you're Ebay Plus member.

    • Thanks, fixed!

    • Plus it will also warm your room :)

      • Even better with our 3rd world electricity providers asking us to conserve consumption.

Or you could get a product like this and BYO SSD. Link

It only works with CH SN 530 which cost over $200 in last 6 month, even sometime cost more than $250, making it less cost effective than original product.

    • Thanks!

    • Does it work though ? The over priced nature of the Xbox solution makes me want to find a plan B

      • Already answered by Mandolorians. CH SN 530 1T is required. Think of it like a WD SN 530.

  • Bought. been waiting for it to get back under $280.

Just so much gamepass. Tired of game moving between internal & external all the time

    • how long to move a 100gb game to/from a hdd ?

    • Should try streaming gp games, it's surprisingly quick and saves internal storage space.

Been playing AC origins to complete some achievements I missed.

It's the one thing PlayStation always been better at. $270 for a (equivalent) PCIE 3 1TB drive is gross.

    • The official one MS sells is actually pcie4

      • +2

PCIe gen 4 x2 has the same bandwidth as PCIe gen 3 x4. He did use the word (equivalent). The current custom CFastExpress workaround uses a WD SSD that's well known to be a PCIe gen 3 x4 ssd.

What's next? Let's start selling PCIe gen 4 x1 (1969MB/s) SSDs shall we? We know Microsoft insist the internal SSD is PCIe gen 4, but Microsoft cannot refute it is PCIe gen 4 x2.

    • Yeah just need a PS5 to use it with…

      • That's the excuse we I used to buy both Series X and PS5.

Microsoft… where is that amazing BCPack compression that you hyped up to be better than Kraken? Time to use it to make the game installs smaller. It's useless to keep your supposedly dark horse trump card in the bag unused.

For anyone that knows they want one but is baulking at the price… just do it… i did about 6 months ago and it has been so freaking great having all that extra space, and once you pair it with game pass, well the world's your oyster my friends.
Oh and FYI, the Series X internal 1TB drive has 802GB of useable space, whereas the external 1TB drive has 920GB of useable space, so you will be more than doubling your storage by a decent amount!

    • As a dual camp supporter, I want my Series X's external storage to match my PS5's NVMe SSD. So, will wait for a 2TB deal.

For now, happy to play games I don't really care via cloud gaming for the time being. The only reason I would get a 1TB expansion is if a Series S happened to be dirt cheap (i.e. I have both Series X and Series S). Or, Microsoft abolishes that stupid SSD whitelist so we can use the BYO SSD kit and use any SSD we want.

co-sign, I finally got a Series S (and also a Series X) late last year. Funnily enough I spent more time on the Series S than the Series X (set the S up in my main lounge room and the X eventually went into the family room - been too lazy to change console locations :P). The lack of storage space didn't worry me at first, but as I started playing more S|X optimised games I realised I'd have to do something about it soon. I was very close on buying the 1TB expansion….. I ended up going for the 2TB. More money than brains ? YES, but I'm as happy as Larry (not Leisure Suit Larry!!) with the extra space, that I still haven't run out of as yet (1tb left).

      • I also have both a Series X and Series S. I feel like the Series X has enough storage because I can only play 1 games at a time.
I have a 1Tb Storage Expansion Card (purchased from Gumtree) and I use it on my Series S.

Try streaming game pass Games, is surprisingly good. Doesn't waste storage also

      • Tried streaming game pass games, is surprisingly bad. On an NBN 100/40 plan that reliably gets near maximum speeds and the experience is abysmal.

Mines fine, Optus 50/20. Are using using Ethernet cable, maybe you have a dud console

    • Lol I've had the ssd since start can't imagine not having it especially because my son plays also.

I'm actually wanting the 2tb version.

Wonder if they'll ever partner with others. $300 is a lot just to save time DL overnight or moving to slow USB storage. And do I need 10 extra games on wait?

    • My thoughts exactly. I ummed and aahed about it for a while in 2021, but I just never have that many games on the go (not even combined with my kids) that I cannot afford to have the primary games sitting on the internal SSD and everything else on a cheap external HDD.

Even at the larger 100 GB installs it's still 8 games, and with everything else installed to HDD I can still keep on top of updates.

Insane that you can buy an actual Series S for $130 more

    • Can you use that as external storage for your Series X?

      • Can install less important games on the Series S. For example: Tetris Effect: Connected. Microsoft insists that game must run on SSD.

Paying a premium for “exclusive” storage

Can also get the 2TB for $545 with the same discount off the RRP of $699

    • So tempted to go for this. Just so much money. O feel if it hit $500 I'd go for it.

Thank you!! I was about to bite the bullet at (near) full price, stoked you posted this!

    • Glad you saw this deal before buying at full price - #1 rule is always check OzB first :)

  • They also support USB yeah, like the ps5? You just can't play the games off it?

I'd hope so anyhow, based on that pricing

    • You can play old gen off a regular drive, just Series X/S games need it.

  • +1

like half the price of the console for this pitiful 1tb storage size

  • 4 percent cashback on shopback also.
