Step 1: Please understand that following all these steps may not work for you

  • There is no need for aggression in instances where you are unable to subscribe to an international Netflix account. Share your experience so everyone can chip in and help out. There are plenty of examples where hacks shared on this platform do not work for some people, but may work for others:

    • Modem reset for faster internet,
    • Cash back program purchase tracking,
    • Price matching an unobtainable deal or price error,
    • Targeted bargains, and
    • Limited quantity items quickly or instant (bot) sellout.
  • Similarly we know there are cash back users who follow every single step for cash back (turn off ad blocker, have no items in cart, do not click other links, etc.) on their purchases and it does not work, its probably best to move on.There are many users who successfully use this hack and enjoy paying half the price of the Australian membership. Unfortunately there are also many users who have been unable to sign up to Netflix Turkey or Argentina. After all it is intended for people who reside in Turkey or Argentina. If it does not work, I am not affiliated with any of the entities listed below or linked to and cannot guarantee any outcome. I can only read comments on this platform and others to share them with you. Your patience is appreciated. Please do not take it personally.

Step 2: Obtain a Turkish or Argentinian VPN

Step 3: Confirm Turkish/Argentinian IP

Step 4: Sign Up to Netflix

  • In a private-browsing tab open Netflix

Step 5: Enter Card Details

  • Possibly working: 28 Degrees, ANZ Rewards, Citibank Debit, Macquarie
    Mixed reports: CBA, ING

FAQs

Q: My bank blocked my payment, what do I do?
A Some banks block 1st attempt and then text to confirm it's you. Once you reply, 2nd attempt may work.

Q: Where can I purchase a Turkish Netflix gift card?
A: Others have had success purchasing Turkish Netflix gift cards (for a premium) or using Transfer Wise.

Q: I have an existing Netflix subscription, can I use the same email?
A: You can try! Visit Netflix website and cancel your subscription ASAP. It will expire at the end of the billing period. Then follow Step 1-5.

Q: I thought it would cost $4.66 but I was billed for $5.00.
A: Please note that changes in the foreign exchange rate will impact the subscription fee. Happy to update.

Q: How do I enter an international mobile number?
A: Ignore any requests for a mobile, open Netflix in a new tab and confirm account is working. If you must, there are a couple of resources for codes being sent to an international mobile number. Please note that these services may not work since others may have used the numbers for verification codes from Netflix SMS Codes(smscodes.io) PVA Codes(pvacodes.com) SMS-Activate(sms-activate.ru) SMS Approval(panel.smsapproval.com).

Q: Do I need to use a VPN every time I access Netflix?
A: No, VPN is only required for sign up. After sign up, use Netflix without a VPN and you will have access to the Australian Netflix library.

This is notoriously difficult. Much more difficult than YT premium. Netflix have definitely tried to clamp down on this

    • +4

I've done it twice (for me and for a mate). Loaded up on Turkish Netflix cards and paid a year in advance. Easy as.

      • +2

I have done this in Jan 2022 and my current subscription expires in July . I am happy with the bargain and renew service next month.
I bought the Netflix gift card from https://www.g2a.com/search?query=Netflix
Using PayPal and works great .

        • +3

If you want to avoid the extra charge for gift cards, just jump onto their live chat support and tell them that you're having problems getting your credit/debit card to be accepted. They'll open up a special page for you enter your card details, which bypasses the country check, and voila. No more having to buy inflated gift cards.

          • @freekay: I tried twice with live chat support, they are helpless

            • +1

@ntt: I set my Netflix up about 6 months ago, so I'm not sure if anything has changed since then. What I did was tell them that I the payment page kept rejecting all the cards that I had, and asked them if they could open the manual payment capture page in the chat for me. Worked first time.

              • @freekay: I bought a gift card and subscribe it for the first time. At least it works for now

            • +1

@ntt: I literally told them that “my friend” who had the same issue was offered a page to directly add payment details. So then they sent me one. Its not really a link to page, its a widget that appears on the chat itself.
Also helpful tip : Make sure to open the live chat while using Turkey VPN. Because the support guy asked me why I am located outisde the country 😅

              • @janukahw: I did it twice, they acted they don't know until I pushed then they said that isn't applied for a new account

        • +1

Thanks.. Used your link to purchase Netflix GC and worked great. Appreciate it!

      • +1

Gift cards aren't quite as cheap as paying for it yourself. I've also used gift cards in the past but eventually stopped. I just want to get the lowest price possible :(

        • +1

A helluva lot cheaper than paying via Australia though!

          • @mandelbrot: Definitely! But I'm not much of a Netflix watcher. I eventually let the sub lapse and didn't bother renewing. I might give it another go with a workaround posted below but for now I don't see as much value in it. I wish that they still offered the free trial period, I really want to watch the final season of Stranger Things, that might get me back into things.

Do not buy Turkey Gift Cards from mtcgame.com. It’s a scam site and you will lose your data. Just Google about it and you’ll see. The OP should not be allowed to link to this site

        • I bought mine from there, have no problems?

        • I confirm that the mtcgame is no good! I purchased mine and they sent me a code that was redeemed! Netflix support confirmed that!

          • @LightMoon: I bought giftcard from mtcgame and the code was delivered to my email within 5 mins

            • @bghunter: Mine was delivered with the mins but was already redeemed.

              • @LightMoon: Oh ok, luckily I could redeem mine, sorry to hear that

        • +1

I bought mine through G2A (100TL + 75TL bundle) and they worked fine

    • +3

Not that hard if you are a real ozbargainer!

    • Its really not that hard lol, took me about 20min about a year ago. Paid upfront for a year.

      • +3

Can you post your method for subbing? Mainly getting past providing your phone number, that's the step that I and a lot of other people seem to get stuck on. Cheers

        • +5

You don't need a phone number at all ?

VPN to turkey, Signup to Netflix, Go to MTCgames, Buy 1 year worth of netflix turkey vouchers, Add Vouchers to Netflix. Done

          • @CyberDyn999: I thought you had gone through with the original method on the post. The gift card method is a lot easier but it's not the cheapest compared to just paying for it normally.

          • @CyberDyn999: I got stuck when trying to pay with my credit card. It asked for a Turkey phone number. Can I avoid this by paying with gift cards?

          • @CyberDyn999: the vouchers cost 100 TL but 1 month's premium subscription costs only 7.99 TL which is around $2 AUD difference. P.S. when u add vouchers to netflix does it add up as Netflix credit that u can use every month separately or does the voucher count as 1 month subscription each?

  • +4

My most recent charge $7.05 AUD for premium (4 spots). Best deal ever

    • +1

      Mine was $6.63 for 77.99TR - 09th June - winning!

      • +1

Lucky! You got it on the dip haha. Mine was 23rd May

  • +6

I couldn't get it to work no matter how hard I tried, I always fail at the payment page

    • +9

Same happened to me last time so I ended up buying turkey Netflix cards which works fine.

      • Thanks for the tip, maybe I should do that too

        • Yep saved me so much hassle as I originally tried 4 different credit cards and they all failed, including credit cards that worked for Argentina netflix years ago. Not sure if prices have gone up but my Netflix only charges 40.99TL for the standard plan and a 100TL card cost under $10.

          • @Slo20: Can you descrube how this works?

I'd always get asked for a Turkish mobile number around/before the payment, can't recall where.

If I've bought the Turkish Netflix card, how/where do I use it in the process?

            • +4

@Gumbootboy: You get asked for a Turkish mobile number if you are trying to add or change a credit card to a Netflix account that wasn’t currently active. You can get around that by initially setting it up as Australian and paying for a month subscription as Australian and registering an Australian mobile then switching to Turkish after that month…. Whilst that gets around the mobile verification you might still have the issue where the credit card isn’t accepted when you switch to Turkish.

Gift card is one of the payment options so instead of adding a credit card I just added a Netflix credit. I’m not sure if you have to verify a Turkish mobile if setting up a new account and paying with gift card but as I was using an account that was previously registered in Australia I didn’t have to verify mobile again when using gift card.

              • @Slo20: Where do you buyyour GC?

                • +3

                  @buckethat: I use https://www.mtcgame.com/en-AU/netflix/netflix-hediye-karti

Just be aware it says instant delivery of card but it isn’t instant. Usually a few hours and sometimes need to chase up with their online chat team.

                  • @Slo20: When redeeming the voucher, did you use the alphanumeric KOD?
Mine is giving error "the code entered is not valid".

                    • @newington07: Yes. It was alphanumeric code under the “PIN KODU”

Confirming you are on Turkish VPN when trying to use it?

              • @Slo20:

then switching to Turkish after that month…

What you mean by switching to Turkish exactly?

                • +4

@MuddyClear: Switching as in start with Australian account. Add your preferred credit card and verify with Australian mobile.
Pay for one month as Australian and cancel during that month.
Once the cancellation date has passed then use vpn with country set to Turkey then restart membership.
If it accepts your credit card on file for Turkish payment then fantastic, if not that’s when you can load a Turkish netflix gift card.

                  • @Slo20: Thanks.

There are two Turkish gift cards to get from here: https://www.mtcgame.com/en-US/netflix/netflix-hediye-karti

                    Which is the correct one?

                    • +2

@MuddyClear: They are both correct, just different denominations. 75TL (Turkish Lira) or 100TL.

The cost per Lira is identical for both so if you not going the Premium plan you can buy the 75TL card if you want to be cautious first purchase. The good thing about the gift cards too is Netflix will apply pro rata days to use your remaining gift card balance so it never goes to waste. For example if you pay standard plan it will deduct 57.99 TL leaving you 17.01TL credit. Instead of the following month saying you have insufficient credit it will extend your membership for ~9 days… obviously you can add more gift cards in the meantime.

                      • +3

                        @Slo20: Thanks again.

                        To summarise:

To restart Netflix membership with credit card details already on there:

            • @Gumbootboy: It's supposed to be easier starting with an aus account, add normal creditcard, closing acc , move to Turkey using VPN, reopen acc, that's it.

              try wise cc

          • +1

@Slo20: There are some posters on hotukdeals who have mentioned that you connect to VPN, make sure you have Turkish pricing , then add the card details on Netflix and disconnect the VPN before you confirm the new card. Apparently it works - YMMV

            • +2

@Maxdax: Didn’t work for me, did exactly as above and ended up charging me AUD price

    • Also used Turkish Netflix gift card. Once that balance exchausted I switched payment over to Revolut. Now my crypto.com card. Which gets me 100% back in CRO too 🤓

      • +3

Did you have to stake $5000 aud for that though ? I did that but with $500 which is now worth about $150

      • I'm interested why you have gone down this path when you could have just subscribed with Netflix AU and still got 100% refund in CRO?

        • Already had the discounted Netflix way before I got my CDC card. I mean I could pay full price and get that back in CRO. But I also could buy the same amount of CRO (or anything else for that matter) with what I’m saving

    • +19

This is my way to make the credit card working:

1: go to Au site to subscribe for 1mth paying by credit card (so cc details can be saved in your account, in case you can add another cc on file.)

2: cancel subscription and wait until it’s expired.

3: buy a Turkish gift card and use vpn to subscribe

4: after gift card finished, it will take the payment from the credit card on file.

      • Thanks, might give this a go!

      • yep this is what I did

      • Yep.

      • This might be the legit way to work around this. Just wondering, can go we with the lowest priced aussie plan at the beginning?

        • +1

yes it doesn't matter as you need it to expire

      • this is exactly how mine worked

      • This worked for me

I wonder if we can update the credit card to a different one with no issues..

      • Do u have to wait 1 month for the first subscription to expire or is there a way to expire it faster?

  • +4

recommend tunnelbear if you want a free vpn

    • Thanks it is good to know tunnelbear offers a free plan.

      One question though:

I just tried tunnelbear chrome plugin and aw Argentina in the country list but not Turkey.
Would it make any difference using the app?

  • Anybody know if this type of hack works for any other streaming service?

How to get Turkey Netflix cards?

Did you read the FAQs in the post?

      i got them through g2a.com

    • +3

Stop being lazy and read the post.

    • Santa Clause gave it to good kids

  • How to get around the sms verification?

    • Some have had success using an account with a verified mobile number but no active (or expired) plan. YMMV

      • How to get one?

        • +3

You subscribe to Australian Netflix and cancel the sub, let the plan expire and then attempt to re-sub through Turkey

  • +2

I wish I remember what I did but it took me over 2mths with multiple payment methods in multiple regions to finally get Turkey to work with my card. It was some weird chain of steps. If it stops working I wouldn't know what to do. I did use a turkish gift card for one period though.

    • +4

I got it to work by praying to the sun god with a sacrificial lamb I think, before loading my international fee free card.

  • +22

For payments most of the Australian cards fail. It does get recognised as international card and Netflix blocks the payment. I tried an alternate way, which worked for me. I hope it works for you but you will have to pay for Australian subscription for at least one month.

    1. Get an Australian subscription, or cancel if you already have one.
    2. Now they have your card on file, which means it doesn’t need to be provided again.
    3. Once the membership expires, get a Turkish Netflix gift card and register for Netflix Turkey using VPN
    4. Once the balance on card expires, Netflix will automatically start charging the card on file, the one that was provided for Australian subscription.

Working for about a year without any issues. Last month I paid $6.65 for top plan.

    • +1

      This also worked for me!

    • Aha! I think that's what I inadvertently did. Now I remember

    • register for Netflix Turkey using VPN

This is the bit that's unclear to me. Do we create a new Netflix account, or add the Turkish Netflix gift card to our existing account?

      • Add to your existing account the one you also provided credit card details in step 1 and 2

      • +1

Replying to self to say that OP did in fact address this:

Q: I have an existing Netflix subscription, can I use the same email?
A: You can try! Visit Netflix website and cancel your subscription ASAP. It will expire at the end of the billing period. Then follow Step 1-5.

      • +1

I'm not 100% sure, as I never tried, but my understanding is that it means logging onto the Turkish Netflix webpage (with a VPN) using your existing Australian account login details, so you credit card details will be retained in your account when you do that. Happy to be corrected.

      • Apologies, wrong choice of word. Use same account but select the plan on Turkish Netflix.

    • Any reason why you need to use the Turkish Netflix gift card if the Credit card is already on file. Can't you just restart your membership directly from the card stored on file without re-entering?

      • I think it asked me to re-enter/confirm payment details to process the first payment and it failed at that point. If you pay by gift card, it won’t go to credit card card details screen. Not sure if the process is changed now.

      • This worked for me

  • -1

sorry not sure if allowed here but will try my luck

Has anyone who has already bought through vpn interested in sharing an account? Happy to pay through bank transfer or paypal.

    • +1

Windscribe and I think Tunnelbear have free tiers which would probably meet your needs for the occasional signup

      • +1

Pretty sure they meant sharing a Netflix account not the VPN.

    • +1

      Check the classifieds

  • +1

Annoyingly wouldn't work with a Westpac MasterCard or NAB Visa Credit. Also tried a global prepaid card and wouldn't work either. Damn :( Thanks op for the post just cancelled Netflix as $23 is just too much, so $7 was perfect.

    • +1

Try with wise or revolut. working for us with Revolut.

    • I use the gift cards, but I did see others have found a possible work around to use any card that I might try….in a year when all my gift cards run out
