$171 with eBay plus, $175 without. Says more than 10 available currently.

  • Good deal? I've been looking for a surround sound headset, this is a bit above my price range but I could treat myself a little if this deal is too good to pass up.

Don't get fooled by the hype, I doubt this will really produce surround sound. It's a marketing gimmick 95% of the time

      • Not really hype if it actually has the hardware in it to create surroundsound but I do understand you may just be referring to the surround sound typo kind of thing

      • I ended up buying them from the Ebay deal for $171, I like them. They might not have "actual" surround sound, but however they're doing virtual 7.1 it's working for me. I was able to track the passage of vehicles in far cry 4 from sound alone, and spin around to catch the animals that were stalking me, based on their growls. Overall I'm really impressed.

Maybe that's standard fare for modern headsets, but it's the first time I've felt such accuracy, mainly being an earbud user.

How does it compare to this:

Just FYI they've been sitting at this price point for a good few months now at most stores.

Mixed reviews but for what it's worth most of the negatives seem to be concerned with the software and firmware. Some seem to say the firmware is better now. Not sure about the software.

I've bought these before when there was a sale on Catch of the Day. Returned after a day. Surround sound is horrible, there's sound leak and its not closed. The headset is comfortable for sure, if the quaility of itself was better, i'd have kept. The mic itself also was meh, i use Audio Technica ATH-G1W and was comparing to them. Personally would recommend to stay away if you want a decent headset for gaming.

    • How do you find the ATH-G1W? Lots of reviews seem to say pretty bad with dropping out.

The reviews are very on point, that's the only annoying part about these headsets. The dropouts aren't too frequent, but when they happen its annoying as hell.

        • Thanks for the info. I might keep looking then.

I have the 670 and 370 - unless using bluetooth is your main concern, the 370 is a better buy, even at the same price imho. 100 hours battery life in a headset has been just amazing. I went from Gen2 Astro A50s to the 370s, saw the 670s on sale one day, thought it would be an "upgrade" - it's not. You get maybe 12-14 hours from it, and there's the bluetooth delay that is definitely there. You can adjust for it, it's tiny, but it's definitely there in comparison to the 370s or even the same 670s using the wireless dongle.

Myself, the only time i'd use bluetooth would be when i'm out and about or doing woodwork, and i'm sure as shit not walking around with a headset on in public, but i'm not everyone.

  • I have both the 370 and the 670 also. Don’t buy them for the surround sound, it’s not even close to the real thing, you’d want actual 5.1+ headphones. I can’t remember how I set them up but I don’t use the EPOS software and instead I’m using Dolby Atmos through windows for both which is way better surround. The 370 battery life is worlds ahead of the 670 but I use the 670 daily, I prefer the way it sits on my ears. They’re both fantastic headphones. I liked them that much I also bought all the corded ones and the gsx1000 when they were all cheap

    • Got a link to a decent actual surround sound headset? All the ones I can find say in the fine print that it's "virtual" surround sound, which I'm.guessign isn't the real deal
