PowerColor Radeon RX 6700 XT Red Devil OC Graphics Card $679 + Delivery @ PC Case Gear

111

Great price for a Radeon card from a decent brand.

Not sure how this will compare (performance/price) to the upcoming non-xt version. https://videocardz.com/newz/powercolor-launches-its-first-ra…

this card has a large drop to go before you can call it a "great price"

    • +7

Not really a bargain - 6700xts have gone for less in recent deals (eg https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/705239 <$600), and even if this were a recent low for the model it's still not particularly good value for the perf at this price.

      • Also it's 15% faster than 6600xt 40% more expensive.

        6600XT $379USD ($399au)
        6700XT $479USD ($679au)

6700xt is still very inflated in Australia. The $760 RTX 3070 was a lot faster

What are you expecting for this price? RX Titan vram and performance?

        • You bought a Nitro 6700xt for $830 8 months ago. What are you expecting? People to buy them so it doesn't fall in value for you?

Don't have the nerve to get annoyed when you didn't hodl

          • -2

@Jimmy77: I got the nitro+ 2months ago. In a previous post i said i didn't mind spending the $$ because it was a premium card. Prices now make no difference to me. They can sell them for $10 for all i care.
What i'm saying is, people expect too much sometimes. If they want more performance, they should look for a higher tier like the 6800xt that might have better frame per$ value.
Hodl? Pfft i'm not a sheep mate

      • Red devil is like top tier model

        • It's not a good price. You can get 6600xt red devil for $450. This is only 15% more performance for 30% more price. Uses extra 70w too

          • +2

@Jimmy77: Its more like 30% more performance

              • @Jimmy77: If you're going to be so confident about something it's usually best to make sure you are correct. I'd recommend looking to a more reliable benchmarking team with contemporary results, like hardware unboxed.

N.b. The 6700xt had a massive driver update recently which performs quite a bit better than the one it had at release.

                • @Budju: lol are you referring to this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdBCB4Fm0RY&t=490s&ab_channe…

                  8:15

The driver gives like a 2% performance increase

                  • @Jimmy77: Gained 4% on the variance between the 6700xt and the 3070. Not sure what you're lolling about. That is a huge gain for a driver update. While you're at it why don't you look at the contemporary comparisons between 6700xt and 6600xt.

                    • @Budju: If it was 30% faster than 6600xt that would make it faster than 3070. It's 7% slower in that video.

So going with these new drivers it's still only 18% faster for 40% more price. That 4% is just an average of 50 games he's picked. He explains there's no gains in dx11 and games like pubg.

He directly says at 7:54 that 4% is mainly due to 3 games (witcher/death stranding/watch dogs) and the driver gains are unnoticeable across the board

What $amount = "great price" in your opinion?

  • +2

Wasn't the red devil one of the more sought after models at launch?

    • Sure, I don't think this is as important in lower tier products which use less power / create less heat.

  • +1

6700 XT values on the used market have absolutely tanked. I'd be aiming for $500 used, $600 new for one of these.

    • I got this exact card for 600 a few days ago on FB.

        New?

        • +1

Used for a month, not mined on.

          • @ronitdias: How could you know if it’s been mined on?

            • @Ulysses31: True, but even if its been lightly mined, it doesn't affect my usecase which is just gaming.

    • Uh, where?

    • What gpu are you using now? When do you think 6700 XT prices will drop to $600? Is $79 going to be that much of a difference though

      • +1

I have a 6900 XT in my main rig but I build and sell rigs as a hobby so always keep an eye on prices. $79 is more than 10% off $679 - and I reckon we'll get there in the next few weeks.

That all being said, the Red Devil 6700 XT is one of the best models out there (save for the ASUS Strix model) - if you really wanted one, you could do worse than this deal.

        • Thanks for your reply mate. Do you think it's worth buying the 6700xt over the 6600xt, I have read from multiple posts that it's only 15% faster than 6600xt but more than proportionally expensive.

          • @cakeking98: depends what you are doing - if you are just gaming at 1080, i would save my money and go for 6600 XT (which i think are $399 new at the moment? crazy value), but if you are gaming at 1440p, you definitely want the extra headroom of the 6700 XT (just not at $679, IMO).

  • This, or MSI RTX 3070 Gaming Z Trio 8GB (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/706879) for an extra $160 bucks?

    • 3070.
BUt if you're spending more, then consider many other things than just that.
      What res?

      • 4k? I think. It's for a PC that sits behind a 55" tv.

        • think about the kinds of games and settings you will be playing on the TV, and also keep in mind your TV probably can only do 4k 60hz (unless it's one of those fancy OLED TVs) - a 3070 would be OK for this, but i find that if you're the kind of person who likes to turn the settings dial up to 11, the 3070 is frustratingly not quite good enough at 4k (really need a 6800 XT or 3080).

          • @xyron: Thanks for you reply dude! I don't really care about dialling all the settings up to 11? I'm sitting a few metres away from the screen anyway. Just replacing an aging Rx560 build.

I think I would be more concerned about general performance/value for money for the next few years? What else should I be looking at?

            • @JurrasicClarke: Yep so a 3070 should be fine for gaming at 4k medium/high but it'll struggle to maintain 60fps on the latest titles at ultra. just worth thinking about - it might be fine depending what kind of performance youre expecting (i.e. are you sitting back and playing some older games on the TV using a controller, or are you using a lapboard and fragging noobs in apex legends?)

              • +1

@xyron: I am absolutely just sitting back on the couch. Online FPS days are long over!

    • 3070, but i'd wait for another ~$760 one to come along like this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/706018

  • It's a shame. Even when they come down to a decent price they'll still use 230w an hour.

    I kind've regret not buying a 1080p screen. I could be running a $399 6600xt with 160w

    • +1

Buy what you can afford and don't look back. There are plenty cheap 1080p monitors on the market…. great hertz speeds. Shame about the pixel pitch on a larger screen however. That's where the 1440p come in

      • I already bought the S2721DGF last year. The bigger size is a gimmick, for a desk 24/25 inch 1080p is perfect. They look that close ppi wise 1440p isn't worth the extra 30% performance hit imo. Especially with what gpu prices have been for the past 18 months
