    Already grabbed one :)

I bought it with $619(using a voucher) at 28/05 and I saw this deal at midnight.
So I sent a message to MS eBay and they have price matched on their own:

"Thank you for your inquiry regarding price matching in the Microsoft Store on eBay.com.
Based on our record, you paid for this Laptop on 5/28/22 $799.00 before tax and the new price is $749.00.
We can process a $50 as partial refund. If you are agree, please let us know to continue with the process."

    • Do u like the laptop?

      • My boy has just opened it and he likes.
Seems build very well and not bad performance for high schooler.

    • Is it a straight refund of $50, or does it automatically take into account the 20% discount so it ends up being $40?

      • Interestingly they calculated the refund based on the price before discount:
"Following an investigation, we have gone ahead and refunded the account used in your original purchase.
We have processed a partial refund from $799.00 to $749.00 for a total of $50.00.
You will be able to see returned funds in your account within 3 to 5 business days depending on your bank's policies."

        • Interesting. My guess is if the refund is processed through eBay, the refund will be prorated based on the 20% discount (with $10 attributed to a refund of eBay coupon). If they’ve processed a refund directly to your card outside of eBay, it’ll be a full $50 refund

I’m on the same boat! Do you mind posting your message to MS eBay so I can say the same thing? I’m a rude person and usually offend people lol.

      • Sent you a PM as it's not so polite. ^_^

        • +2

Don't forget to say 'please' and 'thank you' at the end of the message to MS eBay

Thanks for posting this comment! did the same and got the refund too.

  • Does this have thunderbolt? Edit: google says no

  • Is win 11 upgrade available free for this?

  • +1

    Lack Thunderbolt/USBC4 port.

    Is RAM upgradeable?

  • +1

This is a great deal and the laptop has good reviews except for one thing which is the webcam. It pops out from the keyboard and the angle isn't great for teams/zoom. Please take note of this if you use this laptop a lot for video conferencing.

Inbuilt laptop webcams are laughable in general.

  • Are there any issues for iPhone users with trying to backup etc?

  • On website https://gadgets360.com/huawei-matebook-d-14-price-in-india-9… it says Expandable RAM up to (GB) 16GB, is this i5 10210U 8GB RAM upgraded to 16G easily or soldered on and can't upgrade?

    • That model is somewhat different. It has a separate graphics card, so cannot rely that this laptop is also Ram upgradeable.

  • What's the difference between those 2?

  • +4

I thought the MateBook 14 has a 2160x1440 display unlike the listed 1920x1080? And, it's a shame they come equipped with 8GB RAM and not 16GB RAM.

    • And the tech specs further down are for a 27" monitor lol

    • will you be able to add more RAM, or they are soldering on the board?

  • +3

no @canberrascooter comment on this yet?

    • LMAO

Matebook 14 vs something like a lenovo yoga 7 or inspiron 14 5000?

    • +1

matebook 14 is good quality except the keyboard is cheap plastic

  • It this laptop available at Microsoft online store?

  • Is it better than xps

    • +3

      quality build no doubt.

  • i have d15 and the x pro. the d15 is killer good. step on it

  • i wish there was a sale on the 16 inch version

  • which one would you go, the D14 or the Matebook 14 for everyday Internet browsing and light microsoft office type work?

    • +3

      D but it's sold out

    • +2

Ordered matebook 14 as D14 is Sold out. Looking through the specs on Huawei site, it has better screen resolution and slightly brighter + 11th gen processor vs 10th gen on D14. And windows 11. Hope that makes up for the price difference.

      • +2

The matebook 14 also has USB 3.2 gen1 ports vs USB3.0 on D14, WiFi 6 vs Wifi 5, Bluetooth 5.1 vs 5.0, 4 microphones vs 2. Not to mention a twin-turbine cooling system vs 1-turbine on D14 that should result in more efficient and quieter operation. The only drawback of Matebook 14 for me is that it is 110 grams heavier than D14.
Overall, I think the above changes are worth extra $195 AUD if you are buying it for long-term.

    • +2

Not sure if this would matter for you, but the 3:2 aspect ratio of the 14 was big advantage for me, also the USB C port supports display too, so with my Dell monitor I can charge and display using one cable.

  • Any idea of the quality of the Huawei notebooks ?

    • +2

compared to the m1 macbook air, the 14 was good but not great. The edges are chamfered but somehow the edge on the air is more pleasing to the touch. The biggest miss is the touch pad, once you get used to the glass one on MacBooks, even though the 14 still has big and accurate tracking the click feels a bit unpleasant. But the chassis is stiff and over all not floppy. the colour of the screen is a bit off, you do get software (built in) to adjust, but not very good.
for the price, I'm extremely pleased.

  • Hi guys, I am a newbie to computing stuff, just wondering if this laptop is good enough to play 4K videos with no lag? ($749.00 one)

    • The screen isn't even 4k so nope

      • sorry I meant to link the laptop with my 4k TV to play 4k videos

        • Unless you also need a laptop if suggest a nvidia shield Pro

          • @DoesntEvenMatter: yeah I do need a new laptop, so thought that would be good if the new one can do this work

            • @dishajason: Well it will work in general but it will depend on what type of 4k video it will be if its something like a bluesy with that remux/lossless then I'm not sure. If it's from a streaming service no issues
