    I'll wait for the movie…

    Thanks for all the fish…

Maybe I am cheap, but $24 is still too expensive for paperback book.

    • +4

Isn't this basically all 5 books in one?

      • +3

Isn't this basically all 5 books in one?

Yep, imagine being too cheap to pay <$5 for a book.

      • +4

It's the whole trilogy of five books. At 752 pages and 12.9 x 5.4 x 19.7 cm, this would be a hefty tome.

I'd be more than happy to snap this up, but I'm one of the 15 million people who bought this some years ago.

        • +3

Yep - I don't care that some of the pages are no longer glued in place properly. I'm not replacing my signed copy with a new one…. :-)

          • @clintdb: You can own two books.

            HTH

            • @Franc-T: :-D
              <Mind Blown>

              • +3

@clintdb: did you just drink a pan-galactic gargle blaster?

…also it has more material or something. I bought this book again. That said I am a fan have the tv series here as well.

I know where my towel is.

            • @Franc-T: I love books, but hate reading them.

  • +6

My favourite books of all time, and I have been going through a new book every week or two since I was a kid. Do yourself a favour and pick up a copy.

    • +3

yes cant second this. i have ready thousands of books in last 30 years and this one ranks in top 3 for me.

      • Ok, I'm going to pull the trigger because of you two

        Edit: bugger! Back to $38+

  • +2

I dunno. I hated the fifth book, so I'd rather pretend it didn't exist. I already have the quadrilogy. But, well priced, so + for the deal.

    • +1

Yes, the fifth book (from memory) he wrote when he was suffering some severe depression.

  • +4

Sad that Douglas won't make money for my purchase. Thanks Op.

    • +7

don't be too sad, a large part of his estate is donated to conservation charities.

      • -2

        donated to conservation charities.

        Oh the irony !!!

Love some of the reviews in the listing:

Really entertaining and fun — John Cleese

Much funnier than anything John Cleese has written — Terry Jones

I know for a fact that John Cleese hasn’t read it — Graham Chapman

Who is John Cleese? — Eric Idle

Really entertaining and fun — Michael Palin

Hurry! Or you will be late!

    • +2

      Late? What for?

      • +3

Late as in the late @uncyspam. I'm still working on my threats.

      • Fun fact - Slartibartfast's original name was supposed to be "PHARTIPHUCKBORLZ"

        • Actually I remember the name being used before Hitchhikers.

  • Is there a kindle version?

  • +6

"hung in the air in the same way bricks don't" is still one of the greatest lines in a book ever :)

  • +2

This deal appears to be mostly harmless.

  • Is the deal over? I don't see a backorder option on the website

  • Was reading comments and was looking forward to getting it, but now looks like the deal is over :(

I never knew HHGTTG was a porno!

  • Merged from The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy $23.99 + Delivery ($0 with Prime/ $39 Spend) @ Amazon AU

Same deal from a couple of days ago, more stock available to purchase now, but with longer delivery times (July 12-31 for me).

    • +4

42nd anniversary edition. Now I feel old. HHGTTG was one of the first books I bought when I was a kid and it would have been the year it was published.

      • +3

        Now I feel old

        Don't panic……

        • +2

I'm not, but I've got this terrible pain in all the diodes down my left side.

      • I haven't read this. Is this book for kids? I read somewhere that it's for 18+ :-(
There are 2 early-teens at home. Should I purchase one for them?
        Thanks

        • +2

there's nothing explicitly or implicitly adult in there, at least that I can think of (worst thing that comes to mind is a a whale going splat).
I think it's just that adults relate better to some of the humour, metaphors, and scenarios. some kids just find it all lame and dumb.

        • Yes, that's a good age for the books. Anything from about ten upwards really (and younger if you like). I'd have been about nine or ten when I first started reading them, before the "trilogy" was even a trilogy.

    • +1

      shut up marvin

    • +2

Just FYI, it says ‘trilogy in five parts’ but it is 1 thic book

      • Yeah, they are still separate books (Like you can buy LOTR in a single volume though there are three distinct books in them).

The whole triology was a good joke (I think I first saw it when the fourth book came out) ruined a little by putting them all together.

    • I ordered from the last time this was posted: its arriving 6 Jul - 25 Jul so this conceivably could arrive quicker!

      • so this conceivably could arrive quicker!

That would be due to a negative reality inversion.

    • Dumb question: is this the same as https://www.amazon.com.au/Hitchiker-Trilogy-Box-Set/dp/15290…
      Thanks

      • same book/content. op's is in a single large volume while yours has each book in its own volume. I prefer yours. but it's double the price.

    • an anniversary edition + thick single volume = hardback the way to go. unfortunately that's very expensive :-(

    • if was $42 then it would free postage for all
