  • (Was $31.90)

According to Camel it's been $27.11 since Feb.

    • What you have checked is the lowest price ever. Because this product has been discounted before. But it has been a long time since a discount was done. That's why I wrote $31.90

3.0 out of 5 stars Not at bright as advertised.

This camera light works ok but it is not the 1100 lumins at 0.3metres advertised. The 96 leds never come on full brightness at the same time. half of them are red LEDs and half are blue LEDS. So if you are using the light at daylight (near full blue setting) then only half the LEDs are in use. Photographers want daylight 5500 kelvin so the full 96 LEDs never come into play.

There is a feature (holding down the power button for a couple of seconds) that supposedly uses all 96 LED lights at full brightness but this does not actually do as advertised either. What appears to happen is all red and blue LEDs light up to less than full power giving an over-warm colour and less light.

I used a camera to check this out and there was less light when all 96 LEDs were active than when set to full cold daylight and full brightness. It is not more powerful than a ULanzi VL49 (49 LED) camera lamp.

Another thing is the operation is horribly convoluted with multiple modes happening. As a photographer I want to turn it on and use it. On the good side is it remembers your previous settings. It takes a couple of seconds to turn off once you press the on/off button.

It is advertised as being a bright 1100 lumins lamp but in tests I found it to be no brighter than my ULanzi VL49 (49 LED) WHITE 800 lumin lamp that is slightly smaller and quicker to use. In fact, I had to use the exact same iso/shutter speed/aperture settings for both to get the same image correctly exposed. They are identical in light output although the Simorr seems to have a wider light spread.

The RGB LED effect is poor with the light barely showing orange through to blue, unlike the ULanzi VL49 (49 LED) 'RGB' light which gives deeper colours. So if you want colours for background lighting this may not be the right light for you.

For macro photography or indoor desktop photography it will help although there is no indicator to the exact temperature the lamp is set to. For photography you really want to know the kelvin value.

So not particularly impressed. I will stay with my ULanzi VL49 (49 LED) White light.

  • I bought this light from the previous deal:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/703197

It is not as bright as I thought it would be, adjusting the colour temperature is easy with the dial but there is no where to know at what colour temp you are on.
TBH - For the price its not that bad.

I recommend the RGB Video Light though. Its actually quite nice!

  • The price come does to $23.29 for me after applying the code and not $19.80 as advertised?

    • Hi
You need click the coupon for 15% off

  • Thanks heaps, got one.
One of these was included in the vlogging kit that went on sale some time ago "https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/703197"
Super easy to use, good battery, bright enough to light up minor details on things like electronics for photos.
Also ended up using it for any cable work I do under the desk etc as it spreads light well without hurting your eyeball.
IMO, good deal for under $20.
    Thanks again.

Addit - comes down to $18.50
