Big FIT, but for my area (Sydney, Endeavour) the rates are also BIG:

    INC GST*
    Daily Charge
    0.9801 $/day

    Peak Usage - First 20 Kwh/Day #
    0.5554 $/kwh

    Peak Usage Balance
    0.5990 $/kwh

    Solar Generation
    0.2000 $/kwh

    Controlled Load
    0.4900 $/kwh

    • +9

Woah! Over 50 cents per kilowatt… Pass.

      • +5

Controlled load at 49 cents per kwh is a joke. I pay 10 cents.

        • +1

If you have solar, time to ditch controlled load and go the biggest system you can get on your roof.

          • @lgacb08: Agree, controlled load becomes irrelevant if you large size PV and charge during the day.
            Costs to swap over though

          • @lgacb08: Could you elaborate on this strategy? I'm serviced by Endeavour Energy and last year upgraded my main power to 3-phase to run another 5kw system, totalling 10kw solar now. Right now with Energy Locals getting 10c FiT and 19c/kwh flat rate usage + membership fees.

Are you saying I can take better advantage of my 10kw setup?

            • @m0usju1c3: I just checked my address, NSW and all i see is 7c fit with Energy Locals. How are you getting 10c?

Just got an email from AGL the other day that they are downgrading my plan from 17c fit to 5c and am looking for other providers.

          • @lgacb08: I'm not sure that I agree with this statement in all situations. It depends on how much CL is going to cost. e,g, my CL costs $0.16/kWh (from July). But there is an opportunity cost of not exporting it in lost FIT, so the real CL cost is $0.11/kWh. The cost of putting more solar panels on may not be worth it for this. Also keep in mind that by substituting CL with PV may mean that there is something else from the normal load that won't be able to use this PV and since normal load is more expensive than CL we may be worse off.

Unless you've locked in your rates or in WA/Tas, then you might be in for a shock in the coming weeks.

Actually, I have a cunning plan, rent the house next door, sign them onto this plan, run a extension lead across the fence, import for 10c then export for 20c. For max profit get 3 phase power for max load

  • +2

But look at the charges - 63c/Kwh - not worthy

    • pretty good if you have a decent battery and are a net producer.

    • AGL is charging more. I heard others got doubled.
      Isn't that the way now?

  • +3

i have seen this few weeks ago but may not be a deal since they up the FIT (not quite double) but double your general usage rates. so better off staying with 12c or 13c plan unless you have battery where you dont need any energy from grid.

  • -2

If you have a battery ( I have Tesla Powerwall) then the rates don’t matter, only FiT :)

    • +1

Not one case fits all. Depends on your usage and usage patterns patterns, even with a Powerwall

    • +1

Does your powerwall supply your controlled load devices as well?

  • Wow! This is great. My AGL FIT is down to 8c from 21c.

    Thanks heaps.

    • +1

Give them a ring, currently on 10c after questioning the same drop.

  • +4

In true Ozbargain spirit, it might be worth switching to this plan for 3 months over summer for the referral and FIT, then switching away before the high usage costs start to overwhelm the FIT offset.

    • i have switched to their 5c plan to get $75 credit for the first month then will switch to 13c soon. not much sun during winter and $75 is roughly a month worth of electricity.

  • Highest FiT provider in VIC anyone?

  • +2

    55c on usage rate lol

  • +3

SOLARPLUS is 97% higher than the reference price

    Peak Usage 0.6380

    it's crazy

  • +1

be careful the usage rates are doubled for me, use your last bill to calculate the real comparison
not worth the switch from powershop.

  • Please do you own maths if this works out for you.
Despite the 20cents GloBird charges a lot over the references price (+70%) - so your imports from the grid will be pretty expensive.

  • Looks at your usage patterns over the past 12
months. Work out if there is a time period (1,2 or 3 quarters) where your consumption is lower than other times of the year. It may be worth switching over to this plan during this period, then switch to a different retailer plan for periods when your consumption is higher.

  • Just signed up with this deal about a week ago is it too late for the referral code ? Also as mentioned by others this is going to be useful for a handful of people with either low usage or, big solar systems and or a battery.

  • The plans are great if you are a low consumption but high export household. I'm on a similar deal in Vic with AGL, 20c FIT but high consumption and daily surcharge costs. But every time I do the calcs I'm still better off on that plan.

  • +3

Buyer beware, if the FiT is high it usually means you are being gouged elsewhere.
I'm not aware of any government rebates beyond market mechanisms.

If it looks to good to be true, then it usually is.

  • I would be sure to do the sums before signing up with this one
Very high rates which means if you are a high consumer your bills will be a big shock.

Im luckily enough to be on Origin with 21c export and 29c import rates

    • Is your 21c expiring soon or is this your FIT for the coming year?

      • I was with origin previously and left and then the retentions team called me and said they could offer me 12c as well as a $150 credit, for some reason though my account shows 21c fit so it's in error. I count myself lucky.

        • Oh wow that’s hope for us all.

  • +1

Use some of the online calcs to figure out which works best for your usage. Dont get mislead by a big FIT

  • How does this https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/ work? It asked for my meter, then said I can get Powershop Super Solar 470per year (Now about 750/yr)
It's on 13c FIT, so I'm guessing the real usage this is better than the 20FIT plan.

I also have solaranalytics, it says a battery isn't worthwhile, I'd save 700/yr after the AGL price hikes, which is a 20yr ROI.

Also thinking of moving to Single rate tariff. Now we are TOU, it's cheaper, but we have to shiver in the cold until 10pm off peak.

    • It's cheaper, but we have to shiver in the cold until 10pm off peak.

Yeap, and this is why you need to factor in your avg use during Peak hours when on TOU rates. It's not for everyone especially families who cook and use a lot of power during those hours.

  • This plan does not have any feed-in limites (most other solar plans are 10 kW) and does not have any daily kWh limits.
For those with huge solar installs or batteries, this will make sense. I don't have a battery but I do have 17 kW of solar so this plans makes sense for me. Wow, those energy usage rates are extreme though!
