LG UltraGear 32GN550-B 31.5" 165Hz Full HD 1ms G-Sync Compatible Gaming Monitor $279 + Delivery @ Mwave

180

Cheapest price I had seen was $70 more only recently and most places were even higher, So this seems like a pretty good deal. Delivery varies based on location and is free or greatly reduced if you have an Mwave MVP membership.

I successfully got Office Works to "price beat" this this for me tonight (match plus extra 5% off) and the total (after factoring Mwave shipping) was only $286 and I was very pleased because I was going to pay around $360 only a few days ago.

Looking around Office Works at when I was there I saw a 24" FHD for the same price and also a 27" FHD for about the same also but I don't think the refresh rates were very high on those and so I think this is a great price for such a big screen with high refresh rate. Should arrive from Office Works warehouse in a couple of days according to the tracking email I have received.

Monitor has both FreeSync and GSync and is reported to give good performance and picture. It's a VA panel with pretty thin bezels and also rotates into portrait mode on it's stand.

I will be using it beside my bed on a night stand and the distance I will be viewng it from means that I should not be able to see any pixels despite its large area and only 1080p resolution and should be a massive improvement over the 24" I am using now. Although that one is a Dell Ultrasharp IPS panel 1900x1200 so I will have to get used to the colour differences.

Still 3 days to go on this special or until stocks run out. I hope someone will find this deal useful like me.

    Isn't 1080p on a 32" painful?

Depends on how far you are sitting, I was concerned about this but after researching I found out that at a certain distance you can't see the pixels and it appears sharp.

This is from a reddit post I read and sumarises pretty well I think:

The problem is NOT blurriness, but pixelation, like you will start seeing individual pixels, and that makes things look not sharp.

I am currently writing this on a 32inch 1440p monitor, and I have a perfect 10/10 vision. I can start seeing pixels at about 1.7feet if I try to find pixels. I start noticing them at about 1 feet. At around 3 Feet, I will not be able to tell the difference between a 4k monitor and a 1440p monitor.

If you have absolutely no plan at all for sitting closeer than 4feet, then go for a 1080p 32inch, but if you plan to sit upto 2feet distance, then go for 1440p monitor.

I will give some numbers. If you keep the following monitors at the distance I mentioned(or above), you will not be able to notice any visual difference. These are max numbers, in actual scenario, you will not notice much difference even at a 40% more closer distance -

      32inch 720p - 175cm (5.7feet)

      32inch 1080p - 124cm (4feet)

      32inch 1440p - 94cm (3feet)

      32inch 4k - 64cm (2feet)

These are for people with perfect vision, I don't know what is the condition of your eyesight to judge what is suitable for you. If you want to "simulate" what a 32inch 1080p monitor looks like at 70cm distance, then sit at 40cm from your current 24inch monitor and see how it looks in-regards to pixelation.

        my phone is 4K, my laptop is 4K, I definitely don't want a 32" be 1080p.
        I have a 1080p 22" and that's my bottom line.
        If I sit further away as you suggest, I would like a 43" 4K, not a 32" 1080p.

So you fell for marketing twice, what does that have to do with anything?

I use 4k 27’s at about 60cm. My wife’s monitor is 1440 @ 27 and for me that’s unusable at the same distance. I look at a lot of small text so my case is quite specific. I’d like a bigger monitor but would ideally want 8k @ 55” to keep the same sharpness at the same distance for twice the current real estate (now using 2 x 4k)

Upvoted to offset the neg. You were quite clear about your use case.

  • Thats low pix forv32

Yeah I know, I also heard a lot of people say this but it depends on how you are viewing it, if not using at a normal desk sitting position but instead a bit further away (more like a small TV viewing distance) then it should not be much of an issue.

Obviously not for everyone but in my case it suits well and lot's of consumer reviews are positive about it so it just depends on what you need it/using it for I guess.

It's kind of like not being able to see a difference between 4K and 1080p on your lounge room TV if you are not sitting close enough, so for running a game for instance in that case you may as well just run at 1080p and get way smoother performance.

This is a great monitor to build an arcade machine with

    • Yeah! I think it would be great for that and even a cheap and compact virtual pinball table too :) I'm looking forward to seeing what some classic arcade games like Raiden, Metal Slug, Bubble Bobble etc will look like on it, especially rotated into portrait mode for the vertical shooters like Raiden and Batsugun.

    • That's an amazing price! Thankyou for posting, I think I will cancel my Office Works order now and just get one from these guys because it's nearly $30 cheaper. But I may have to wait until it arrives in store and go in and get them to refund me? Not sure how it works with them 🤷‍♂️

Make sure , use eBay plus 5 dollar voucher and buy ebay gift card from shop back 3% cash back. That will save 5+7.5 more . I did that…:)

        • Oh nice, you must have only payed $240 something, such a bargain! Thankyou for the suggestion, I don't have Ebay plus and am not familiar with shop back yet, so I decided to ring Office Works customer centre and asked them to refund me the one I had already ordered and also if they would not mind doing a price match at the lower price you linked and they were totally cool with it! So I ended up getting it for another $40 cheaper thanks to you!

I'm really glad how it worked out because saved over $100 on price I was going to pay last week. Thankyou again my friend, you're a champion! 🏆😃 Hope you enjoy your big new screen for a long long time!
