      Without cashback it is actually cheaper on ebay with code ($2,299.04). But with cashback, this takes this down to around $2,058.32 (I don't think the 12% a flat 12% off the top, so might be slightly higher).

      I've kept looking at it the last couple of days. Tempted to grab one myself.

    is it still the case with Ryzen that only 4 PCIe lanes are connected to the GPU? I had a system with 5900HS and 3070, and only 4 lanes were allocated indeed (at PCIe 3 speed).

    currently running i7-11800H with 3070, and it has 16 lanes dedicated to GPU (at PCIe 4 speed).

    I think Jarrod discussed this in one of his Intel vs AMD videos but I can't find it

      Which gen ryzen are you running? I've got a 5800h, I'm pretty sure that this time around it's 8 lanes pcie4.0 for the dedicated GPU and 8 for the Vega GPU. I'll check when I get home.

          I've just checked my laptop with hwinfo. I've got a 2021 Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 with a 5800H CPU and RTX3060 GPU. The GPU is running off 8x pcie4.0 lanes according to hwinfo. The on-die Vega GPU is running at 16x pcie4.0 lanes. I wish it were the other way around.

              @shabaka: must be a bug on hwinfo. cpu-z shows bus specs as pcie4.0 as well. would've expected them to have resolved the bugs by now, should be pcie3.0 since pcie4.0 is not supported according to amd.

      Some brands do allow usb-c charging, just not for gaming, but it is good enough for regular use. The current gen Lenovo Legion 5 Pro supports 100w USB-C input, but you'll need to use the 230w-300w adapter if you plan on playing games. I believe they are launching a new laptop series with the 6000 series CPUs that support up to 160w USB-C input, but no ETA for Australia that I know of, they're trying to clear off 5000 series CPUs first.

      My 4 year old xps does a decent job handling medium sized Revit projects. This will do just fine. You can even create average quality renders with this.

      With cashback probably sub $2500 (flat 12% takes it to 2,463.1024). Seems alright for the next gpu up, higher MHz ram (and DDR5) and bigger screen (depending if you want that).

        I have a G5. Definitely don't recommend it. Cooling is rubbish, and constantly overheats, throttles and auto shuts down.

        The thing that worries me is that it doesn't list the wattage of the GPU. If it's 130w plus it will be decent, but if it's lower then the performance will be crippled.

      It’s a cut-down mobile RTX 3070.

      Check notebookreviews for gaming FPS with different games, as the mobile GPU is not the same as desktop GPU, the power delivery differences make a big change in actual FPS in games and synthetic benchmarks.

      it’s good to get real measurements in games to get an idea of the difference between mobile and desktop.

      It’s better than a lot of GPUs, but don’t expect very high performance (70fps to 90fps) above 1080p to 1440p resolution.

      For gaming at 1080/1440p on mobile, 40-80fps is the typical spec due to thermal & power use to allow for slowing down power consumption in gaming (with varying power consumption per game/task)

      The 5900HX is also a great CPU for 1440p, but your mileage may vary as it’s mostly cooling performance with a laptop, not the burst frequency or capability.

      Check reviews for thermal throttling and loud fan speed after 20-30 minutes of gaming with any gaming laptop, it’s actually rare that you find reviews on laptops, even rarer to test games, despite how easy it is to benchmark.

      If you are expecting 120fps at 1080p, aim for the mobile RTX 3080 which is around 20-60% faster

      keep in mind that it is a laptop 3070 and dell aren't telling you what the wattage rating is on this particular 3070. it may not have enough power to max out fhd 165hz, nevermind 1440p 165hz.

      If you have the money… wish i could've gone the full but near 5k is a little too much to drop.. even with the EOFY discount. Personally went with the i7 and 3070Ti.. as I heard its not a huge improvement for the $$$.

    Some great prices for some Dell systems with their EOFY sales. Well, probably their true prices… heh. After alot of ooh'ing and ahh'ing between the M15, M17, X15 and X17.. I went with the X15 R2, 12700H with 3070Ti, 32GB DDR5 ram, 1TB NVMe with the QHD 1440p screen for its portability. Total cost at 3.6k with the 1.4k off. Not too shabby I think compared to other competitors. Just hope it is a noticable massive upgrade to my ancient Asus G75VW i7-3610QM and 670m (2012).
