one of the good chargers …

    ???

    • Not it will it charge your phone, it will keep you warm while your house burns down.

    • I think the 25W charger is one Heymix charger in particular to avoid. Do a search and read the reviews on other listings.

I think the op means 1 of those 3 is good

  • Thanks OP. More chargers.

Bro there's no way, these guys have to be paying people to post on OzBargain. Probably slipped them a $5 Amazon gift card if they post or something.

    • who should I contact to get my $5 gift card?

I just saw the deal posted on the amazon coupons page and thought it worth sharing. Bought some before and happy with their quality.

Pretty happy with the 65W i got from them last year, 2 of them still working well. just read the other threads and hoping that doesnt happen to mine z_Z

Rather than hoping, it's better just to throw them away. What happens if they catch fire when you're sleeping or away from home? Surely it's just not worth the risk.

      • Does that happen while in use or just randomly when it's plugged in but not charging anything? I don't usually charge things overnight/without being there. But the reviews seem pretty scary lol. Might just change a whole bunch of cygnet 45w with my Telstra points instead.

Based of the reviews for the Heymix 65W, it looks to be more a case of dead on arrival or failure soon after arrival rather than some of the other issues mentioned.

      • catching fire ….they are made from pvc which doesn’t hold a flame ….typically when things like chargers “explode” it’s the internal components that have an initial flame, and then go open circuit, and heat is removed and flame dies down …..so if you light one of these, when you remove the flame they nolonger burn …… non australian compliant power boards are a bigger concern to me as a fire hazard ….

Frequency and type of reported failures are both of concern. See also the above post with linked reviews.

These chargers are already super cheap at $5 each. They sell them even cheaper in China.

It is clear from all of the issues they are cutting corners when it comes to safety. Pay a bit more and get something that isn't a fire hazard.

  • Thanks to ozbargain, I got sucked into buying it.

I must of been really lucky, got a pack of 4 last October. Have been using all of them constantly and not a single problem, don't heat at all even when supplying the full 25w.

    • same …i have a few of these and no issues …..hard to know full circumstances ….it’s like when people charging their phones unattended in cars on hot days and melting the plastic on their seats or the phone battery exploding ….. sometimes it’s the circumstances …… i remember people burning their thighs using laptops …..turned out they were blocking the air intake which is on the bottom of some laptop models, it’s called a laptop but some are designed to be used on a table so air can be sucked in from underneath …..apple macbook air l have sucks air in from the back and blows it our via keyboard so can actually be used on a lap……

maybe people are using these chargers to power a bank of raspberry pi mining rigs ?

Chargers shouldn't fail at the frequency or way in which some Heymix chargers fail on the reviews. One example we have is charging an iPad. Stop trying to blame users.

If it is the fault of users, it's still evidence Heymix is still more than likely a bad product as other chargers don't fail in the same catastrophic manner.
