    • Why a controller skin?

      • +1

why a PS5 controller skin, I don't think it will fit a Switch controller

Picked one up the other day for $5. Using it right now - pretty handy!!

I bought one for $10 a week ago for fun to test out.

It's ok but you definitely feel its cheaply made.

These ones have joycon grips covers that clip separately onto the joycon which is fine but once you add the power bank pack which adds a bit of weight. The joycons will take o dont have support under flexing load. If you look at the Hori split pad pro it has a little back piece that sticks out to press against the console to prevent flex. These Kmart ones don't.
In addition the grips are a hard slipper plastic so its not exactly easy to hold onto.
The joycon cases also click in very hard and if not careful can easily scratch your joycons if you remove them on and off often.

The battery pack has no cushioning/rubber padding on the top clip or any part of the case so i you open and close it often its bond to scratch your console.

I mean for $5 its not bad but I play long hours handheld so I would prefer a grip case like Skull and Co or Satisfye which is lighter and connect a power bank separately via a cable to reduce the additional weight as opposed to this heavier battery pack.

    • Does the battery pack fit while using the Hori Split Pad Pro?

      • +2

        It doesnt

        I just tested it.

        It hits it by 2-3mm

        • ah bugger, there goes that idea.

    • Was wondering where to get Skull and Co or Satisfye equivalents

    • +1

The quality does feel cheap, but again, for $5, can't really complain. It's a bit of a struggle removing the joy cons from the grips provided, but those are optional anyway. The main charging device works as intended.

  • Will Oled fit this?

    • Dimensions on the OLED should be the exact same as the original if not very slightly different.

    • +2

      The Switch OLED measures 4 x 9.5 x 0.55 inches (102mm x 242mm x 13.9mm) with Joy-Cons attached,
      The base Switch measures 4 x 9.4 x 0.55 inches (102mm x 239mm x 13.9mm).

Looks like only width is the difference which means it should still fit as the battery pack clips via the top ,bottom and back of the console

  • I'm trying to figure out what this does. You can charge your Switch with a USB-C cable and don't need this extra weight. Or am I not seeing the use case here?

    • +1

It's a case with a built-in battery to extend your Switch playtime without using an external power bank or power source.

      • +1

Oh right so an extra battery. It didn't look like much from the pictures. Thanks.

    • +1

      It's a battery pack.

  • The kmart website seems to be down… might be flooded with ozbargainers? lol

    • It's loading okay here.

  • I have it. It is heavy and best played as desktop mode. For $5 it is ok.

  • Is it effectively a 5000mAh power bank? Can it deliver power via USB C, or just to the Switch?

    • Looking at the pic of the back, it shows a 5V 2.0Ah max USB A output.
But I guess you could always use the front docking TypeC (Switch) output if you can fit something on there! πŸ€·β€β™‚

Thanks snoop. My cupboard for dodgy projects is full. Sit this one out.

        • +1

At least you have dodgy projects to show for it. I just have a cupboard full of old parts (with the intention of turning them into dodgy projects). πŸ˜‰

I ordered it to test with the Switch Lite!

    • +1

It won’t fit. I have it and tried it.

      • +1

Correct, itll be way too loose too.

      • As in the USB C connector can't make it into the switch lite, or does the lite make it in but it's not a comfortable fit?

Wondering if it's possible to remove some pieces to use with switch lite…

        • +1

The body of the Switch Lite is not wide enough that the ZL and ZR buttons stop it from sitting onto the USB C port on the charging case.

  • Warning: Battery cannot be subjected to high or low extreme temperatures, low air pressure at high altitude during use, storage or transportation.

^~ does this mean it shouldn't be used on an airplane?

    • +1

Cabin in an airplane is pressurised. So should be fine as a carry on, problem maybe in luggage.. but then again aren't most high capacity batteries the same??

      • +1

You shouldn't check in the lithium battery anyway.

        • i wasn't planning to check it in .. i wanted to have it in the cabin with me ..

          • @CereaL: So what's the problem?

            • +1

@Richardc: Problem is you are not understanding his original comment.

He asked if he can use it on the plane. Not check it in.

You decided to say you shouldn't check in lithium battery.
Which he responded he wasn't planning to check it in.

Make sense or was that still too hard for you to understand sugarlips?

  • And my son bought it for $10 a couple of days ago…

    • +1

Return your son for store credit

      • +1

the fuel and time to drive back and get it wouldnt be worth it.

      • Kmart won't issue credit in lieu of son.

  • Mine literally got delivered just now.
Oops, didn't think about posting it - was just a filler for me to get free delivery.

  • +1

So they have a TONNE of stuff there marked down.

Best buys are PS5 controller charger stations for $2

There's also PS5 stands with LED lights for $2

  • There was a lot of stock when i found it in store.

I couldn't charge it with the Nintendo switch power plug, but it seemed to charge over USB3 on my PC.

The joycon grip covers don't feel right. I left them in the box. They also do not slip in smoothly so you'll scratch your console even if you are careful.

The battery pack adds a bit of heft to the console making it less portable and useable in handheld mode. Best in desktop mode.

Definitely not worth RRP. But $5….

  • +1

Still tons of these in stock at Delacombe Town Centre Kmart. One thing to mention that isn't outright stated by other posts - They also have a USB output on the back, meaning you can plug in a cable to charge other devices off the ncluded battery. Handy if you need an emergency battery in a punch for 5 bucks.

  • The accessory combo I got for $2 today. seems decent

  • Does anyone know if you can charge and use these cases at the same time?

I.e. Will the switch still get charged if you have plugged the wall charger into the charging case?
