Might want to add that it's flying with Air Pacific, which means flying in an old 747 with a stop over in Fiji. Recent reviews of the airline has been appalling.

I think if <26yo students can share a hostel room with 10 bunks in it for 2 weeks, they can endure an old 747 and stopover haha

        Hahahah
But those flights would be the last comfort I have before epic backpacking and allow easier readjustment back to civilised life…
/whine (jk, would still fly a shitty budget airline if the savings is worth the inconvenience)

Anyway, I always believe when travelling long distances the flight matters a heck of a lot. Was dead tired flying Air Austral (on the cheap) to France, slept for 14+ hours after the flight on the way out and 24 hours on return…. I was roaring to go when I flew Singapore Airlines! (also on cheap tickets, so please don't kick me off OB)

Rather pay the extra couple $hundred to fly something more decent and direct, get the proper time zone conditioning with half decent food. The less time you spend in the air, the more refreshed you'll be for your travels and the best bit you get more time there!

    • and that with those reviews, some of them are complaining about being grounded in LAX

That's from poor management from ground staff to reallocate them a flight.
Had dismal service from Jetstar when my flight was cancelled, Virgin was unsympathetic when they moved my seat after checking in and splitting up my travel party. Found those reviews to be paralleled with my experiences between full service and budget airlines.
