  • 14 adjustable lengths and a better battery/charge. Think might give this one a shot thanks OP.

      I wouldn't use this as a trimmer.

Just because you chew through blades.

Beard trimmer is better long term, but I love using this to shave close before an actual shave after a week. It makes my life so easy!

I just trimming wise, beard trimmer a are better sue to self sharpening blades.

      • +7

i been using original since may 2021 so just over a year with the same 1st blade still good
just gotta be washed/battery charged enough juice

        for my beard
        and trimming pubes

        with 5mm guard preferably

about once/twice usage a week tops

I have the original one - I started getting the replacement blades from Amazon, but found they were only good for 1 or 2 shaves before they would blunt. Am ordering from Shavershop, now, hoping those blades last longer. Have you had any experience with blades not lasting very long?

      • +3

I've been hearing that a lot. Apparently the replacements arent even close to the original blade which has lasted ages?

        • +1

Yea that's my experience so far. I'm hoping that it's just the Amazon ones that are worse.. but if I orde the SS ones and they also deteriorate fast, thennn I might have to look around for another shaver..

        • +1

Thank you, those are the ones I've been getting. The blades don't last long though. So am hoping the Shavershop ones do.

          • @redgymhero: are they manufactured diffly/elsewhere?

            • +3

@capslock janitor: Saw a bunch of comments on amazon about them being lower quality. That might just be ALL the replacement blades, though. That's what I'm trying to figure out.

        • Is this a good price? I haven't had to buy a blade yet b

        • I STRONGLY recommend AGAINST Knock-off blades. Tried a few from Ebay and Amazon and they just chew the beard, they don't cut anything, even with foam. The only thing those things cut is your face.

The original is more expensive but it's smooth and last months and months for me, so I don't mind paying normal price.

  • +1

4 months (which is supposedly using twice a week to trim a beard) is a pretty crappy lifespan, since new blades are $20 a pop.

It'd want to be really good to justify the ongoing cost.

    • +4

I have the previous version I believe and have changed the blades once in probably 2 years, I use it on my beard, head, neck every 2 weeks or so.

      Opps

      • changed the blades once in probably 2 years

I have some Wahl clippers that are well over 10 years old and still work like new. No blades required.
Sure they won't get the same smoothness of a razor, but luckily we live in a time where stubble is on-trend :)

        • +2

I think I got my ~$50 Panasonic shaver over a decade ago too. Never changed my blades.
The battery only lasts about 2 shaves then dies at 40%. Will keep using it until it stops turning on.

    • +1

I use them because they give me a shave close enough to keep my wife happy and no irritation at all. And I don't use shaving gel and aftershaves anymore (not the main reason for me, but you can consider it as some savings).
Btw, I usually buy them from The Good Guys when receiving their Concierge $20 voucher.

    • how does that compare to this 1? if you're using it as a beard trimmer or shaper.

    • cry

  • How close does this shave? I'm after something better than a beard trimmer to clean up my neckline.

    • It will do a good job, as close to a razor, but obviously not a razor.

    • +3

It’s good for neckline. You can feel the stubble if you run your finger over it but you can’t see it

      • Yeah I just ordered this for that reason. After using a stubble trimmer (also Phillips and great) I have at times gone a bit high, meaning I get a bit of errant stubble a bit higher up my face than I like. This looks ideal to trim that.

    • Does it better than my electric shave did but don't get rashes like a razor.

    • I have the non-pro Philips OneBlade and it doesn't shave as close as a razor, but it's so much more convenient. I do have to clean up the basin afterwards though.

  • any recommendations for a clean shave?

    • +1

DE safety razor. Although don't cheap out on the blades, I got some free ones once and they weren't stainless steel, rusted the razor closed.

  • do these get close enough to be considered a clean shave ?

    • +3

Hi there, I got one of these last sale. Yes they are very good for a close Shave. Not razor blade, but unless u are looking really close you couldn't tell. Much better than electric razors like the phillishave etc.

  • Is this worth the extra if I'm not planning to use it on my face?

I do a lot of cycling and swimming when it's warmer. So like to be fairly body hair free.

    • I picked one up 2 weeks ago full price, had no issues cleaning up the man parts and my shoulders. I'd expect it would be alright on the rest of your body.

    • IMO it is the best for face, it can actually cut you in other places.

    • +1

I don't recommend this one for anything other than the face/neck/shoulders.
From my experience shaving downstairs make the blades dull very fast.
I normally use a crappy trimmer from ebay/aldi to do most of the work, and if 100% clean down there is necessary, I'll use a separate blade from this one to finish the job.

What's the difference between this and the oneblade pro face and body for 169: Philips New OneBlade Pro Face & Body Shaver Trimmer with Rechargeable 120min Li-Ion Battery, 1 Hour Charge Time, 14-Length Precision Comb and LED Digital Display, Chrome, QP6550/15 https://amzn.asia/d/elsrxCs

Cant this one be used on face and body too?

    • +3

They're basically the same. This one just has charge indicator lights rather than a digital display with percent battery left, and the expensive one comes with a few different fixed combs and the adjustable comb has finer increments.

I quite like the fixed combs on the expensive one because you can push or pull them, where as the adjustable one you have to push it (if that makes sense). Sure as hell not worth an extra $75 though.

Looks like this one only claims a 90 minute battery instead of 120 minute too.

  • +1

Have been using this for 12 months on the original blade. Great shaver. Shave once per week/fortnight.

  • What do we miss out on compared to more expensive shavers?

    • +1

Most likely not, it is not listed in Home.

  • +2

I use the blades probably once a week, and I think I get around 8 months.

You noticed that they're not as effective but also they can catch hairs when they get Blunt.

  • I think that QP2520/30 battery is not a Li-Ion… longer charging time. Can't find where I've seen it though, happy to be wrong here.

  • If anybody is tossing up between this one (with its significant deal) and the face & body one (which doesn't get a discount, and is $169)

I found that you can buy just the skin guard and body comb (which are the additional inclusions with the face&body model) (AND it includes an extra replacement blade for down the line in 4 / 8 / ??? months when it needs replacing).

All up it comes to $107 compared to $169 for the model up.
You lose out on metal body, 30 minutes of battery life and the LCD screen with the battery percentage - I think those are the differences? If that's all, I can live with that to save $60

  • Does this come with a travel case? Was just in shaver shop and their same model had a travel case (dearer of course).

  • +1

Anyone know if I can use to trim deez nuts?

  • Any recommendations for a beard trimmer which won't need new blades every 2-3 months?

    • beard trimmer? they dont usually have replaceable blades to begin with
ive been using the same $20 thingy for over 10 years now

  • +1

Took me over 40 years to find the perfect face shaver for my needs and this was it. Have been using for a couple of years now, highly recommended.

    • Out of interest, how often do you shave (your face) and how close a shave do you want/get from this?

      • Thick, dark, quick growing beard, shave twice a week, I'd get as close a shave as I would with a regular blade (which surpirsed me at first as from the comments I'd read I didn't think it got that close). I'd get heaps of irritation from a normal blade, none at all with this.

  • Has anyone purchased it successfully in the last few hours? It won't let me check out. Not sure if it's a stock issue.

    • Prime members only.

      • That's what I thought initially. I am a prime member, but maybe it isn't recognising my membership for some reason. Support are saying out of stock though…

  • JB Hi-FI price matched, picking up in an hour. Thanks OP

    • Price matched and used my perks voucher. Total of $65.

  • Using the comb gives a very uneven shave, any tips on how to get an even shave?

  • Thanks op, bought one

  • Anyone know if this is better or worse than the Braun BT3240?
