Asus ROG Flow X13 13.4" 120Hz Touchscreen, Ryzen 7 6800HS, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD $1899 + Del ($0 Metro/ VIC C&C) + SC @ Centre Com

So i've been looking for a mid-compact laptop with some decent performance and a quality build. This ticked all the boxes for me.

New generation Ryzen 7, with RDNA2 APU that does a decent job from the graphics side. Yes you can get other models with DGPUs like the RTX3050 mobile, but I'm not looking for a gaming laptop (this will be a work laptop). And even then the APU definately bats a decent wicket.

Bloody cheap considering the build quality, good screen (16:10), touch screen, convertible/foldable, and comes with a stylus as well.

Look like no usb4 for eGPU. Other than that inot bad laptop but I rather wait for Phoenix APU to come out.

If you want a similar 2-in-1 laptop with USB4 this one might be worth a look: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/709917

      $1815.79 - AMD 6800U/16GB LPDDR5-6400 RAM/512GB M2 2242 SSD/14" 2.8K (2880 x 1800), OLED, Touch, 100%DCI-P3, 400 nits, 90Hz.

Not readily in stock like the ASUS is though. Claims to ship in ~3 weeks but the ETA was 10+ weeks a few days ago so not sure what to think of Lenovo's ETA.

    • It has a proprietary interface for it's own eGPU https://rog.asus.com/external-graphic-docks/2021-rog-xg-mobi…

It's a niche product that won't suit everyone. Uses uncommon SSD size which is a PITA

    • Not sure if a chassis this compact can handle the heat output of that. If it could then that would be an insta buy for me.

    • It has a proprietary connector for an eGPU. It runs at PCIe Gen3 x8 so much more bandwidth than a thunderbolt 4 eGPU but you’ll likely pay a pretty penny for it

    • I believe rumors are that it's likely to be certified for USB4 with eGPU capabilities in the future…

  • Looks like an awesome device saw some reviews and it seems similar performance to last year's model. I like the new technology however.

I think this has the custom port for Asus eGPU

  • Damn I thought this was the tablet version

That's the Z13. They look sweet as well, but i much prefer a rigid laptop form factor vs the Surface tablet style. The keyboard typing experience is just not nearly as good.

      • Yeah nah nothing worst than trying to "laptop" those flimsy surface style keyboards. Just wanted one to game around the house knowing that we probably won't get the steam deck this decade.

      • The Z13 also has very average battery life vs the X13, due to 12th gen needing to run at a higher TDP in a thin chassis.

  • Good price, was hoping this was for the 3050ti version, looking forward to a deal on that

If only they released the Asus G14 2022 version locally too for $2000+ ….

the dream. That's what i was initally looking for, but with prices for them being in the $3.5k+ range, I had to find an alternative.

I purchased the X13 2022 6900HS with 3050 TI whilst over in the states a couple of months ago. Its a love hate machine as I have a pretty annoying issue where the touch pad freezes every now and then and i have to hibernate and power back up each time it does it to get it working again. A lot of people with similarly frustrating quality control issues on the reddit forum for it.

Other then that it is a pretty awesome little machine. Not sure I would buy one if I didnt want to do some casual gaming on it though. Much better OLED options in a slightly larger 14" form factor.

  • Looks good. Lovingthat 16:10 is coming back into fashion!

  • If you want the 3080 (mobile) egpu included in the package, it’s back in special at JB again: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/asus-rog-flow-x13-13-4-wu…

    • note that is the previous generation cpu though.

Previous gen everything. You're going to want DDR5 and the mux switch of 2022 models.

6800hs vs 6800u ? Which one is better in terms of noise ? I currently have ideapad s540 with 4800u and very happy with how quiet it is.
