  • I'm currently on superloop (having been sucked in with a good recommendation from a friend, and the introductory pricing) but now that I'm paying full price I'm thinking of hopping onto another introductory offer with a competing ISP.

I'm going to get in touch with them today to see if they can offer me a better price going forward.

  • Superloop marketing - sounding a lot like ABB. No loyalty specials for long term customers.

Whenever I see these deals as a Superloop customer it makes me want to leave

Dont get me wrong happy with my service but if any ISPs in Australia want to really be the new King reward loyalty

  • +1

I'm with superloop right now (have been paying full price for a few months now), but just called their customer service to see if they could put me back onto the introductory price to keep me on (looking at Exetel as an alternative). They didn't agree to it, and so now I'm moving to Exetel so I can get $16 off a month for the next 6 months, then moving to Aussie after that.

    • That was ABB attitude too when I was with them. ISPs don't reward loyalty. They suck you in on a special then charge you full price for 2 years before you eventually say Im going elsewhere

  • any modem change required from ABB to this?

    • Nope not on FTTN. When I churned between them awhile back it was seemless.
      Both use IPoE

  • Can anyone here help me setup my modem. I just connected to superloop and can't configure it…annoyingly they don't have support after 6pm

  • +1

From $109 / month at ABB, to $78 here. Glad I'm not staying loyal to ABB!

  • +3

I'm an ABB customer and have been very happy with the service over the years. Based on these recent deals I spent 5 minutes this morning on a call with their retention team asking for a better deal. The gentlemen I was speaking to then started to justify the price (Aussie support etc etc). I told him to save his breath and apply a competitive discount or I leave. $10pm shaved off my monthly account now brings it very close to these deals being posted at the moment. Easy peasy!

    • I tired the same - no luck with ABB. Made the switch and saved myself $28 a month.

    • +1

This is the first time I've ever heard of Aussie Broadband giving any kind of loyalty discount to a customer. I have been with them since I first got NBN nearly five years ago. How do you get on to their retention department? Do they have a direct number?

      • +1

I went through online chat and stated I wanted a better deal. Advised to speak to retention department by dialing 1300 880 905, Opt #1 then Opt #4.

        • Thanks for the info, appreciate it. I will try my luck with Aussie. If they're not willing to match the standard Superloop price of $70/month for the 50/20 plan I will churn to Superloop or Exetel. Not going to stay loyal to Aussie if they won't reward loyalty.

    • Same here, ABB customer, very happy with the service, was on 75/25mbps .. asked them to match the $68.95 100/20 SL deal. Nathan from retentions department (3 weeks old) offered me 1000down/50up unlimited downloads for $69.00 for 6 months as a loyalty offer.. Easy peasy lemon squeezy :-P

      • Positive to hear. How long have you been a customer if you don't mind me asking?

        • +1

          4 years exactly..

  • Be careful if you want to cancel service with them and get onto another service provider. Always plan ahead and not to be in the new billing cycle, they won't refund any of your paid amount for that cycle. Not sure if that is what all providers do now? Charge customer for unused service?

    • Depends on who the provider is. Aussie broadband will provide you a prorata refund. Superloop won't.

      • So if I misplan the switch date, I will have 2 active service and one is unused but still have to pay? :( Is there any negotiation to get the prorata amount with Superloop? I think this is frustrated.

        • No it is Superloop T&Cs that there is no prorata amount.

If you're switching from Superloop you just need to time it correct (and at most will have the second service overlap the existing one by a couple of days - depending on your type of internet connection).

To give you an example I regularly transfer services between ISPs to take advantage of a discount for 6 months.
I called Superloop and asked them when what my billing period was. I then made sure that I requested a cancellation at the end of my billing period before my new billing period so that I am not billed the following month.
I then submit a request with the new ISP to connect a new service a couple of days before the end of my existing billing period with my current ISP. That way I know my new service will be up and running and I am not left without an internet service when my existing ISP is disconnected.

Just wanted to share if anyone interested in trying the same- saw this deal and called TPG where i'm on their 50/25 deal and asked if they could match it / threatened to leave.
They said they couldn't match it but could give me 1 month free. I said no can you do better given they its a saving more than 1 month, can they do 2 months free and i'll sign a 6 month contract.
They obliged so that's a $140 saving for 6 months locked in compared to churning with superloop for a $96 saving all for a few phone calls and no need for any recalibrations etc. overall happy with TPG and speeds so that's the only reason I would do this.
Give it a try if you want.
After 6 months will look to switch or do the same.
    Cheers

  • Thanks for posting this deal, signed up today, more than happy to give TPG the flick, cash grubs

  • I've been swapping between Exetel & Superloop, only left for 6mths & still got the discount when i rejoined, i may have done the old … trick in my email address though & created a new user account.

Just finished my 6mth with Superloop & scheduled a change back to Exetel, no probs with exetel signing back up for the $54.95 plan using my existing account.

    NBN FTTC 50/20

    YMMV

    • Do you just need a "." in the email and it works fine?

      • not sure with SL, did it anyway. Signed back up with Exe using my old account & they emailed me a new username/password..

  • Contemplating making the move. We're with iiNet and currently on FTTN, however our neighborhood is eligible for FTTP upgrades with Home Fast plans and above. iiNet aren't partnered to provide this yet, I'll also get a cheaper plan by moving to Superloop.

    • Well I ended up making the decision pretty quickly after this. Signed up and within 2 hours our FTTN connection was transferred over to Superloop. The following day (Monday) we had a contactor here running the fibre from a pit out the front of our place into the house. Internal install occurs next Monday and we move from 50 to 250.

  • Existing customer paying $119 for 250/25, was chatting to the live chat and they advised me to call this number: 02 9138 7948.
Flat out offered me a $20 discount to match the introductory offer for 6 months no questions asked. Phone call lasted about 2 minutes tops.
    Worth a shot.

    • Same for me, but I got offered the $20 discount for 6 months on 100/20 plan when calling up to close my account (called their main phone number and pressed the appropriate key options for account closure). This applies for retention (so that you don't leave) and also to return (leaving but door open to return a week or so later with this offer).

I still left for Spintel anyway. Still works out cheaper by a further $10.

      • How are going with Spintel? Finally how much you pay per month? Are you happy with the speed, including download overseas?
        Thanks.

    • I use only 100/20, and 6 months will finish tomorrow. I called your number and talked with the retention.
They only gave me $10 off of $89.95, i.e. 79.95. When I checked the new price is only 84.85 before discount, I called again, they then give me $10 off the new price, i.e. 74.95 for 6 months. Although it is not as good 69.95, I accept it, therefore $5 more per month.
You are lucky to get $20 off.

  • Is it me or when I use the random referral link I can't see discounted price of $49.95 for 25/10 plan? But it's showing if I go to superloop's main page?

    • This is happening for me too. Were you able to figure it out?

  • Hi All,

I joined Superloop yesterday -> HFC 100/20. All went well, took them about 5 hours to activate the service. Connected my Deco M5 without much issue (just need to activate IPv6 otherwise won't connect properly). Able to maintain a consistent speed of very close to 100/20.

Now that I am confident to refer friends to Superloop. However, cannot seem to find my referral code/link. Can someone advice how I can get my own referral code? I have checked all the tabs in the member's area but cannot locate it. Thanks in advance!

  • Thankyou superloop, so happy to be away from mate.

Hi all, for anyone interested I was with Belong nbn and using their supplied modem. Easy switch within minutes to superloop without needing to change any settings or modem. I believe you cannot switch to ABB with the belong modem. Hope this helps someone considering the same!

    • re: "switch within minutes". was this minutes after applying for the service on their web site?

i'm trying to figure out how much leeway I need to use most of this month while avoiding next billing from belong.

      • @kees im with belong too - their billing is due on the 1st of the month, i can see that i already paid for august. and the debit date was 1st of august.
so if we want to change then best is around 25th of august i think?
but we wont get any partial refund for the remaining of august, right?

        • +2

I signed up and nominated a future date close to the end of the billing month (I opted for a weekday). Belong does not pro rata. Received a text in the morning saying the porting was being processed, then a text 10 minutes later saying it had been successfully switched.

    • @hywindz

hello~!! thanks im with belong too now.

are you on fttn or fttp ? also do you think we can nominate the change to happen on saturday for example? wfh 5 days here

and.. im with the old starter belong plan which actually give me download 34 upload 18 - paying $60 - i am okay with this kind of speed.

the 50/20 plan with superloop is cheaper (and faster) for now but after 6 months are you happy to stay with them and pay $70 ?

  • Australian Support

We give you all Aussie support, committed to ensuring you stay connected.

"And yes, I am outside of Australia."

  • Anyone gone from internode to superloop? If so, how does the performance and customer service compare?

  • regarding their upgrade to fibre plan, do you have to stay with them for 12 months like some other companies or when you upgrade you can leave straight away without paying any extra fees

  • Hi, I'm thinking of moving away from telstra to this (they are so uncompetitive at the moment). Would I be better to use smart modem from telstra or buying something like TP-Link AC1200? I am on HFC.

  • My existing discounted offer expired last month. Called and was offered the $10/m discount initially but said I wasn’t keen on a 12m plan and was looking at exetel with their deal and they the offered the $20/m discount so back to $69/m again for another 6 month. Happy with that for a 3 min call.

    • just signed up for our new place

      hope it's better than TPG

      • +1

it is better for us, anyway, hope turns out good for you as well.

    • Best alternative provider? Mine keeps dropping out multiple times a day… superloop has been less than helpful

      • ABB, leaptel, may be

      • Asked this question on Reddit. The general consensus in no particular order was:

        Launtel
        ABB
        Superloop

        • Launtel was a good idea at the start, but they had some shocking issues a few years ago that made me swap to ABB.

    • -1

Good luck with customer service. I had an NBN problem. Took 5 phone calls of at least 2 hours on the phone to superloop. Then I gave up and switched to Aussie broadband. Used the app, sent message and they requested the NBN to be sent out. Didn't even have to speak to a person.

Never use superloop. Your time and stress is not worth it

      • Never use superloop. Your time and stress is not worth it

I was with them for 6 months and never had a problem.

      • +1

I havent used ABB, but superloop customer service - a bit slow to reach - have always helped me out for all my problems. Have switched houses twice in a span of 2 years and they have resolved all my internet problems. And I got to use thier 6 months discount plans in all 3 places.

    • +2

More Telecom is cheaper and discount runs for 12 months

      I'm paying $83.30 for 250/25

    • Quick question, do we get an extra 10% off being referred on this special price using a referral code

      • yes

  • +5

Prices have all gone up a dollar. (At least for the 50/20 plan I'm currently on and only just got connected to on Tuesday)

  • +1

Will everyone evntually get free upgrade to fttp? not keen on going on a higher plan / higher price just to get fttp (from fttc)

  • $69.95 sounds like a good deal, best I've noticed for 100/20.
Currently got Leaptel 50/20 for $59.95 until May 2023, would be worth paying the extra $10 and hopefully get more referrals out of it. Think i can go back to superloop by now (I know Tangerine were funny about this for 'new customers').

Anyone know if FTTP is the same as HFC (in apartments).

    Cheers,

    • ps Any idea how long this deal goes for?

Leaptel like 30 days notice but not required, and still got 2.5w till the next billing date.

  • This expired at the end of November.
