[eBay Plus] Sony 83" A90J OLED (2021) $6075.25 + Delivery @ The Good Guys eBay

740
PLUSJULY1

Original Coupon Deal

$6395 + postage. Add PLUSJULY1 coupon and it becomes $6075.25 + postage. Only lower due to unobtanium. Unlikely will ever get lower (running out the model).

Reviewed as the best OLED of 2021, is only let down (compared to LG OLEDs) due to 2 HDMI 2.1 (one of which eARC) vs 4 HDMI 2.1 on LG (which is again the case in the 2022 range). Looks like you need to choose between Dolby Vision OR VRR with the Sonys. But much better HDR tone mapping, sustained brightness, and peak HDR brightness that is better than LG G1 (apparently G2 isn't much different to G1).

If you watch more movies/tv than game, this is the better option. If you play more games than watch tv, LG is the better option. But if you don't have both sitting side by side you'd be hard pressed to notice.

What you will notice though is that 2022 models the Sony doesn't go up to this size.

Diggity.

Edit: VERY weirdly. It shows as sold out on desktop. I just bought one on mobile and it says "more than 10 remaining"

Edit 2: Sold out :( (Or taken down)

Edit 3: Back in stock

  • I always laugh at this plus $55 postage or similar on these types of posts. It always cost atleast $500 or they don't offer delivery for me and I'm only an hour and a half away from Adelaide CBD…

Perks of not living in SE states !

      Adelaide has a CBD?

    • How do you get access to that?

Through your work or maybe try the education store.

        Pathetic resolution & screen size.
With slimmer edges, 40cm (diagonal) is the optimal useable size screen.

        • +1

That was for a notebook though? 40cm/16-inch is pretty generous

While your outlook is commendable I suspect it is incongruous with the majority of this audience.

    • Your view sucks. Gtfo. Stop being poor and afford a house to hold all your 86" tv's in

      • -3

My view is the beachfront (Brighton Le Sands). I use break time to talk to people, not watch someone's fake (Hollywood) lives.
My screen time when analysing via PC. I gave my philosophy & you can take it or ignore it. Happiness & wisdom comes from the inside, not the outside screen.

        • Happiness & wisdom comes from the inside

So does (being) an a**hole. What a coincidence.

    • +1

You would be surprised just how big a TV you should ACTUALLY BE USING if you're using 4K content at 4k resolution.

      A lot of people think a 4k 50 / 55" TV is good. It's a total waste unless they're sitting 5' from it.

A 2.1M diag TV is going to let you sit up to 10' away and still get a nice quality picture with great detail.

      • +2

This. And if your screen is not filling your field of view - it's too small. I know my 65" C9 is. Drooling over this deal.

        • Yeah I got a 65" Plasma 9 years ago and to me it's the bare minimum size and I sit damn close.

My next TV 75" is the minimum I'd consider and I'd really prefer 85" but for a nice quality one, it's extremely expensive.

          • +1

@hamwhisperer: I'm similar - got a Pana 65" ST30 more than 10 years ago, and people were telling me I was nuts to buy a TV this size. I've since upgraded the screen a couple of times, but not the size. Will go with an 83" OLED next time.

  • Damn it, bought the JB one on Friday

    • +1

Try getting JB to refund the difference. I just got $650 refunded on my qn90b.

      • Unfortunately we can't price match ebay, only the good guys website directly

      • JB were able to give me a deal for $6205, but it required my current undelivered order to be cancelled first before I ordered again at the new price.

A bit tedious when they could've just refunded the difference but it is what it is.

  • Can I get your opinion on this mode vs XR77A80J?

The later is 2k cheaper and may suit better for my small living room. But do I miss out the perks of a Master Series TV? Thanks!

Dave yourself over $1000 and get the 77" LG OLED instead. Then you don't lose out on anything

    • +1

      OK… Dave McFly… just doesn't sound right.

    • LGs don't have the same quality of motion handling and PQ.

  • +3

legend! Bought it and all set for my new home now :)

    • +1

Cheers, I’m coming over and bringing my series x and ps5.

  • Is this a QD-Oled?
I feel guilty almost spend this much on a LCD panel yesterday…. Wish I could've got an OLED but my living room gets way too much Sun for oleds.

    • No, the A95K is the just released QD-OLED.

    • +1

There are not any QD-OLEDs at this size yet.

      • How big do the QD-OLEDs get to? 83"

        • From what I can see the Sony QD-OLED will come up to 65", and the Samsung QD-OLED will come up to 77".

Sony models are listed as "available soon" on the website and no Australian launch of the Samsung models has been announced.

          Weirdly, Sony don't seem to have a 2022 version of the 83" A90J :S

          • @Morien: Sony store says $6999 for 65 inch

          • @Morien: I thought all the QD maxed out at 65.

I'm waiting at least a year, for 77 inch models and confirmation that the burn in is heavily reduced.

Also I'm a gamer. There will be text on screen. Curious if the triangle pixel issue can be addressed.

            • @hamwhisperer: For Sony it does. For Samsung it might also. I just quickly googled and it seemed to indicate 77”

  • Does it have matte screen or gloss?

  • This or 10 of the 75" Blaupunkt TVs?

  • Good price! This will ruin your tv viewing after going oled. Glad I got this.

  • Price back to near 9k.

  • Has anyone received their TV yet?

    • Stock expected August, I'm told.

      • Took delivery this morning (but could have since last Friday).
