    It's kogan

  • Are you sure that's the sale price on that size?

Bit small for most things you're going to want to use a dutch oven for. Better off waiting for the 28cm Staub to hit $300 on Amazon.

Guess it's suitable for a kids play kitchen set size wise.
Even moving to 24cm it's a big increase in volume.

Current dilemma, buy chasseur or save up for creuset ….seems chasseur are also triple glazed on some sizes according to their web site ….

  • Those enamel can chip and come out. Better to just stick to cast iron

This is better for acidic food like tomatoes.

  • made in China?

We've had our 24 or 28cm (can't remember which) for 13 years, it's good but I can't tell you what makes it better than any other dutch oven or pot out there. It really feels like grade A marketing, suckered a bunch of people back in the day and the reputation just stuck.

  • How does this compare to the $20 Aldi ones? I can't imagine any reason why one Dutch oven would command such a price premium over another.

    • Glazing seems to creuset selling point but I think they all might crack if large temp changes e.g cold liquid into hot vessel or burnt dry …..it's glass expansion rate vs cast iron expansion rate ….

  • I got a 24cm Staub cast iron from CostoCo a few months ago for around the same price. Trust me, you want those 4 extra centimetres.

  • Quality difference would be glazing ….. But chasseur and staub and aldi has the drip points in the lid so condensation drops onto food to keep moist
