  • Hey can these read bigger than 4gb files?

    • -3

No, they can only read up to 4k

    • +1

It is able to play 50GB mkv file.

      • +1

The pro has no issues, I've gone up to 60gb.

      • Great so not fat32 limit like chromecast?

    • +2
      • Useful link, I was going to ask about what format drives it reads - finally an Android TV box that reads exFat on Android 9+!

  • Anyone else had issues with this connecting to WiFi / WiFi 6?

  • +1

Ordered one of these yesterday at the same price from HN (was $6 more with shipping).

Note the remote is not IR so if you want to control the unit with your Harmony IR or similar you might need the Flirc IR adapter. If you use Harmony Hub it should work our the box.

    Also, check this JIC. https://piunikaweb.com/2022/07/08/nvidia-shield-tv-cec-glitc…

    • Note the remote is not IR

The remote control DOES support IR.

The receiver on the shield doesn't, which suits me fine as I have mounted it onto the back of the TV out of view…

  • Can you pause rewind fat live tv using these?

    • If you configure it in an iptv player that has those features, yes. Kodi and Tivimate both support pause and rewind (once configured). However you can't just buy this, plug it into an aerial and pause/record/watch live tv as far as I am aware.

  • I've received mine now, and… I don't know, I'm not impressed?

I love the speed and the remote, but I've had a few crashes and freezes, and I think HDR content looks grainy when compared to the same app output on my EKO Android TV's native interface, which I find really odd.

It also seems to inconsistently select the right audio protocol from my files - i.e. a movie has 5.1 AAC, but instead of decoding it to Dolby 5.1 it'll be pushing 2.0 pcm instead… Reboot, and then the file works properly again. Not liking that.

Colour switching seems broken, and I mostly wish the Shield would do resolution and refresh rate switching.

All in all, it'salmost excellent - best feature is reading exFat USB drives!
