[eBay Plus, Box Damaged] Sony HT-S350 Soundbar + Subwoofer (320W) $227.05 Delivered @ Sony Australia eBay

120
PLUSAUG1

Essentially a HT-S100F soundbar with a subwoofer. The soundstage might be somewhat muddy and not as immersive for movies compared to more expensive Samsungs, but you can't get any better without spending $150-200 more. Similarly priced soundbars come without subwoofers or produce <300W, for example the Yamaha ATS-1090 $179 @ Amazon which won't be nearly as powerful at anything above moderate volumes, with 120W of output.

Dialogue will be much clearer than your low/mid-range TV speakers, and bass much louder and rumbly if you boost it on the remote or crank the volume. It has ARC/CEC over HDMI so syncs with your TV's power status and volume, unlike the HW-A450 and HW-B450.

"Seconds" HT-S350 is only $10 less.

I purchased this "box damaged" in 2020, it arrived as new with only a small amount of wear on a corner of its box. Working perfectly ever since.

This time I used my $50 Plus sign-up voucher to bring it down to $189 delivered.

Heads up - you'll likely need to take Sony Australia to Fair Trading if you happen to face issues with the condition of your product on delivery :/

  • Thanks. How do you get the $50 ebay plus voucher?

    • +1

You can't apply eBay plus voucher and other discount code for same purchase…

  • +2

+1 for writeup and comparative to similar products in the price range.

I doubt you'd have to go to fair trading though, eBay is notorious for siding with the buyer, especially for defective goods and the onus doesn't fall upon the buyer to prove it's defective, they'll simply approve the return and given its an eBayPlus item, return will be free.

It should be fine though as description of item states ""AS NEW: This item may have damaged carton. It is unused and undamaged item in it's original packaging."

    • I'm more referring to the fact Sony uses DHL and don't have much goodwill if things arrive damaged.

  • How does this compare with Samsung b450? https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-b-series-b450-300…

    • The B450 has better sound, but no CEC/ARC was a deal-breaker for me - you have to control power and volume with a separate remote. The equivalent Sony in terms of sound is the HT-S400.

  • What's the opinion on this? Looks like they are still available and thinking of buying one

    • +1

It's good for general TV viewing - it'll make dialogue clearer and if you're not looking for a home theatre experience, the sound it provides will suffice. It's also better than competitors at higher volumes if that's important, and the Samsungs in this price range require Bluetooth (if your TV has that I'd go with these for less).
The next tier of soundbars up would cost you closer to $300 or above.

      • Great thanks! I've got a jamo home theatre setup with Yamaha receiver from ozbargain deals 8 or 10 years ago so looking at upgrading to a simpler setup.

        • +1

I just updated my comment with a link, go for either one if your TV has Bluetooth.
B450 is only marginally better than the A450 so not worth the $20.

  • This is now $203.15 with Afterpay and code AFPAYDAY.
