Good deal. Makes the other deal posted a few days ago look even better though? Dynabook MicroSDHC Card 512GB C10, U3, A1 $45.00

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/711404

Sadly the deal is expired now though.

    • +2

I only ever use SanDisk, I've tried other brands and lost data.

      • +1

No SD card is perfect, I've had 2 sandisk ultra cards fail so far. I haven't lost any data though, as I always backup everything from the sd card to my computer.

        • +3

Yes this is true, no brand is immune from non failures. Sandisk and Samsung EVO tend to be the more trusted tho.

      • I've had a SandDisk Utlra 32GB go corrupt despite minor usage

    • +7

      Extreme version only $89
Might be better for those who need higher write speeds

Something to keep in mind, this won't be fast enough for 4k video recording, if someone is buying it for that purpose.

    • +1

So no good for modern day smart phone 4k recording? eg Samung iGalaxy's.
Was just comparing this card with Samsung evo plus. A1 vs A2, U1 vs U3.

      • +2

I record everything to internal and have a process with Tasker to move everything over when the phone is charging. Easy to setup, and keeps things fast and clean.

        • That's cool. May reach out to you for some tips when i get a large card. Being thinking on how to do that for a while.

  • +8

Good price, but if you are trying to save as much as you can, the 256 one is much cheaper (cents per GB)

  • really need a 2tb deal, guessing I'm being extremely optimistic that will happen, the 1tb in my switch has been full for months! lol

    • Serious? I have a 512gb in my switch and its barely full

      • +2

some people don't have physical collection they download everything but I know what you mean I also barely use mine because all games a physcial for me :D

        • oh i have roughly 240 odd physical switch games… but I definitely have a LOT more digital on top of that

    • Do 2tb micro SD cards even exist?! I know it's in the spec but I don't think any reputable brand has actually made one (and the "advertised" 2tb cards ring all the scam Bells in my head!!)

  • +1

    I remember when 512GB MicroSD's costed $1000+

They were more comical than anything, who would want THIS much storage in a little MicroSD?

    How times have changed…

    Good find OP

    • +1

I remember a 40gb HDD on my desktop computer and being amazed…

      • My first build had 4gb hd

        • +2

4MB PlayStation memory cards were like $65.

        • my first computer was a XT, no hdd. 2x 5.25 floppy drives. I remember playing some great games on my monochrome monitor.

        • I remember when 1GB was too expensive to consider lol

      • Well I was born in the 21st century, so this is peak evolution for me lol

    • Raspberry Pi server.

Not that that's easy these days, Version 4 is not available due to lack of parts.

    • I remembered back on 2003 when sony released their 1gb card for a $1000. 256MB cards were going for $80-$100.

      • Amiga.
HD was $600 for 40MB and it was a massive box (equiv to $1,543.82 today).

  • If I bought 2x SD cards, a week ago from Amazon for a higher price, how do I go about returning them so I can get the prime day price? I've opened one and other is sealed. Do I have to physically return them or is there a way around?

    • +3

Have a chat to customer service. You can always buy again and get a refund with the old price. They've been difficult with getting the difference refunded.

    • +2

Yeah buy them again, and then return the original order. You may have to pay the return postage tho, depends on what option you select as the reason you're returning.

  • +1

Anyone know if this one is ok for dashcams? I've been reading generally go for endurance models so I'm holding out that one will go on sale during Prime Day.

    • I've been waiting for the same too

  • What is the write speed for this card?

    • +2

I have the 256GB version, and the actual write speed is around 25 MB/s. Minimum write speed is 10 MB/s

      • +1

I thought it should be at least 60MB/s.

  • -2

Wow, this slow speed U1 sd card is so expensive LOL

  • -1

Wish they had deals on a 1TB M.2.

  • +1

Sandisk uses 3D QLC flash in 512gb model. 3D QLC is lower reliability and lower endurance than 3D TLC used by Samsung Evo series.

Unless data is unimportant such as switch console use, aim for 3D TLC card as minimum. The Samsung is only 15 dollars more.

  • Good deal!
I'm on the lookout for a 1tb deal over the next few months.

  • where are the 1tb deals! My Switch is bursting!
