Refurbished iPad 2 with Wi-Fi+3G 16GB - Black (Second Generation) $479.00 Delivered from Apple

Seems an ok price. Thinking about nabbing one before June 30 as a work-related expense.

… although over $300 - would mean subject to depreciation schedule.

I was also contemplating holding out for Google's tablet at half the price.. but as pointed out in the comments it has a smaller screen.

For people whom have issues with this being a refurb, can they please link to a recent local post whereby someone has had issue with an apple refurb item and apple has consequently screwed them over. I'm yet to find any real evidence of this, and only positive comments about direct-from-apple-refurb given the significant price saving.

  • the Nexus is a 7" device. apples and oranges.

  • How is this a good deal?

  • I like this juxtaposition. Ha

  • no deal

  • Manufacturer refurbished with a 12 month Apple warranty (which is basically, a no questions asked replacement) is worth considering as part of the price too.

Seems a bit inappropriate to include tax advise in your post…

People who say its not a good deal please post where they can find it cheaper for the same specs…

Did you forget its refurbished? It seems like you don't care about your money at all. Prices should be $100 less.. They're still expensive.

  • It's a good price but not a deal per se.
You also seem to be talking to yourself more about whether you want to buy it rather than explaining the deal. Maybe something more for the forums.
Don't want to get into a whole apple vs google troll thing but you can't really compare iOS vs Android based on specs. They both do things differently. At the end of the day you should know what user experience you prefer.

    Not a deal for refurb

When the Wifi model is available brand new at Big W for $399 brand new, and can be tethered to most smartphones with a bit of effort, I really can't see how anyone can justify this

  • +2

Hmm, you can get a new one for $399 (dick smith, big w) without the 3G, or pay another 80 bucks and get a refurb with 3G. Hardly seems like a worthwhile deal.
Even if it was at $399 with 3G its still pricey for a refurb.

Apple refurbished is almost as good as new imho. It comes in a plain white box with full warranty. I picked up an iMac about 3 or 4 years ago, has never skipped a beat, & they even shipped me the model up for the same price. My guess is they ran out of the cheaper one or something. Oh I'm pretty sure you can even Apple Care them for the extended warranty, I did that for the iMac, the codes are cheap on ebay most of the time.

I agree. Apple refurbs are pretty much as good as new. I have gotten refurb iPhone 3GS as a replacement for a faulty unit (which they replaced for FREE after the first unit broke down after over 2 years of use!), and I have purchased refurbed Apple Express, Extreme, and keyboards and Macbooks in the past. All have worked as new and haven't yet broken down on me.

  • What's the annual depreciation rate claimable on this device?

  • Apple actually thinks this is a good deal?

    • +2

It's Apple - people will mindlessly buy it no matter what crap they dish up

      • people are not that stupid. if apple were to release a piece of shit (literally) and call it the icrap, do you think people will buy it?

        • The metaphor might serve on a number of levels, but at the literal definition no. it's still only a-figurative expression. (unless apple switches to fertiliser!)
