  • I also received the email saying "these items are currently out of stock and on backorder. If this isn't what you were expecting…", with the option to wait. I am waiting!

I ordered for delivery, perhaps 5 minutes before the deal was cut.

Edit: Nevermind, got the cancellation email a bit later. Was worth a shot, in the end.

  • Cancellation with Afterpay damn it

    • it was expected.

    What the…

I got the cancellation email. that's fine. I didn't think it's gonna work anyway.

I check my PayPal and they just gave me $1067 back even I got charged $1607 on Paypal! -.-

so basically I lost my $550 somewhere lol.

I messaged to PayPal to figure it out but dunno if they gonna act it straight away..

    • +1

Yup same here. PayPal email even specified office works has issued partial refund.

    • Same. But in paypal the original transaction shows 1607 refunded and another refund of 1067 lol

    • Same, what a mess

      • Imagine how much headache Officework office staff having. Such a waste of human labour.

  • Got the confirmation before that now got the cancellation email, paid via Amex :( well party is over

unfortunately we are unable to source additional stock to fulfil your order at this time. We've provided a list of the item(s) below and refunded the amount of: $1067

    $1067

    • exactly the same as what i got :(

  • I read someone bought 2 for their missus. But if they haven't received them well means I haven't missed anything.

  • Party is over guys.

  • refund received, no email or any comm.

  • idk why they cancelled mine, wouldve kept it for 1607 paid, but maybe they didnt want me disputing on paypal because sale price was displayed differently oh well…

like someone said once the S23 is on the horizon, it will probably go down to 1k with stacked offers.

Paid $1607 via PayPal. Refunded only $1067 lmao.

Just got off the phone with OW and have to say that are as incompetent as a 5 year old.

36 mins phone call to explain I did not receive a full refund lmao.

They will apparently need to "investigate" this matter.

    • +1

the funny thing is total purchase amount shows $1,607 and amount refunded shows $1,067.
      what a shi-it

      • +9

Sounds like they got the guy who made the price error to proces the refunds :)

  • +2

I don't get why this 'deal' has increased in votes by around 100 since it was discovered that it was a price error and it was quickly rectified by OW.

My question is. Has officeworks followed their own terms and conditions? I believe they have not. "

We reserve the right to reject your order for products or services purchased through the Website for any reason, including but not limited to if the products or services are not available, if there is an error in the description or price of the requested products or services as advertised on the Website or if there is an error in your order. If we reject your order, we will notify you by email of our rejection at the time you place the order or within a reasonable time thereafter and give you the option of reconfirming your order, changing your order or cancelling your order. If we are unable to contact you, we will treat the order as cancelled. If your order is cancelled and you have already paid for your purchase, you will receive a full refund."

More to this line here " If we reject your order, we will notify you by email of our rejection at the time you place the order or within a reasonable time thereafter and give you the option of reconfirming your order, changing your order or cancelling your order."

I was not offered reconfirming, changing or cancelling of my order. They have decided for me. So is this grounds for a class action lawsuit against officeworks for failing to adhere to their own Terms & Conditions?

    Cheers.

    • No. Get over it. 'class action' Lol. gor blighmy!

      • -3

I was not given the opportunity to buy at the "real price of $1607" now is back to $2,147.00. As per their terms and conditions. Its about what's fair and in writing.

    • -1

class action over some intern messing up the prices. LOL

      • No its about a flawed terms and conditions which as consumers we must abide by, but companies can do what they want?

    • Or wait until a month before S23 releases, it may drop down to this price…

      • Only Fold Z4 and Flip Z4 will be announced

  • Bruhhh my phone is being posted tomorrow at full price taken out of my bank, checkout the whole time had it for 1062

    Have opened a Paypal dispute

    • How lucky

      • Dunno about lucky, I've been charged full price hahaha

        • Easy dispute. You should argue for a partial refund and youll be getting a very cheap ultra

          • @Koipanda: They probably say "sorry, please send it back for a full refund"

  • Is $1607 still a good price? Can it be had with price much lower than this? Aside from the $1067 error of course.

    • Samsung Education Store still has the S22 Ultra (128GB) for $1,479.20. But for that, you'd need a student account.

      • How to get student account 🤦

      • How much is it for a 512GB? Should compare apples with apples.

        • +1

          $1,719.20.
So $1,607 for a 512GB versions is pretty decent.

Just collected mine from Office Works Fairy Meadow (NSW). Was one of the very lucky ones who didn't have their order cancelled.

    • Wow, very lucky, did you get it at the reduced price?

  • +1

Yes I did. Not sure why it wasn't cancelled…. Maybe because it was click and collect?

    • +1

Still a good bargain in the end, well done for getting in early.

  • Charged the full amount of $1,607

    1) officeworks wouldn't let me cancel the order despite calling up 10 mins after and forced a non signature delivery
    2) officeworks won't let me return the item to my local store (so this doesn't work even though suggested it would by others)
    3) can't fill out online returns application because error message appears

Huge headache, item is impossible to return and OW is incompetent

Upon trying to return the item with two full invoices digital and physical as well as bank statements treated as criminal. Person just wasted my time asking for all this proof, even unsealed the tape of the delivery box and wasn't gonna do it for me

Gonna call them yet again tomorrow hoping to return this damn thing but not expecting any help at all lol

    • If you have proof of them charging you a different price to the cart and they refuse to refund you the difference / return and full fefund, you can take them to fair trading. It's a pain the axx to do though, waste so much time.

    • +3

I am a former Officeworks employee they should let you return the item to any store assuming you did not pay on Paypal or some other online payment that can only be refunded online. Note stores doing a long and annoying process used to be able to refund to Paypal then head office changed the policy and said all Paypal refunds which are not exchanges or replacement needed to go through the online return process.

Due to this being an online order and the price is now higher it should be relatively simple to adjust the price to the full $1,607 you were charged and give you a full refund (manager approval needed), store is just being lazy not accepting a return which head office requires them to accept. Also it is generally preferred that returns are done at the store level as it costs Officeworks more to do online returns and is faster and better processes of checking the return are done.

As for the $1,067 issue I cannot give any advice on this as it is weird issues appears to be typo error and website team incompetence and I would say is the manager should exercise his discretion to refund the amount you were overcharged as you can clearly proof you were charged different price due to a system error and given an official but incorrect invoice.

      • Thanks for the insights, however I don't think anyone could produce any proofs that the cart was different to what was being charged. I guess it should just be up to OW to acknowledge the issue since so many people have bring this issue forward.

        • I was referring to most posters having the different email invoice price which was on the order page or email send confirmation set out for $1,067 unless somehow this price got updated.

Otherwise the $1,607 is still okay price as it was likely Officeworks matching Amazon prime deal and someone making a typo to get $1,067 though if you have proof you paid $1,607 and invoice states it then Officeworks should have not trouble refunding the full amount in store (as long as same credit card) as change of minds are allowed and stores are not supposed to complain when they have to unfortunately accept returns on expensive items they might be unlikely to sell.

      • +1

        Thanks AgentXKnight,

I called up the head office and they said the store should have accepted the return and what they said about requiring head office to do the return was not true in any way. So looks like your experience and knowledge as a previous employee is 100% correct. Store must have been lazy.

My charge was on credit card so should not have any PayPal instore issues.

Luckily in my case both the invoice and card charge are $1,607 so I don't have any discrepancy issue, looks like just a bunch of lazy staff in the store fobbing me off haha

        • All good hopefully you are able to get a solution to your problem sometimes stores have very lazy employees who cannot be bother to go through their procedures and processes especially when you have clear evidence your return is simple and should be processed without issue.

Unfortunately you got involved in this weird issue sometimes you can get lucky with Officeworks and get a good bargain because they are times when they honour price errors. Though in terms of products such as high end phones with well known brands it generally does not happen much primarily due to if there was mistake it very likely be that all stock will disappear before anyone notices to take advantage and then the price error fixed before new stock is added.

  • From the amount of post in this error, I think OW should just eat the lost and fix all orders in good faith. It was their mistake to start off then they charge people a different amount and now make people waste their time to fix a OW stuff up? I am sure there are plenty of smart OZBs realise they make a price error and took screen shots. just share it with others and let those have time to put them though fair trading. Lets see how many case OW can afford to get hit!!

BTW I am not one that have an order, I feel fro OW have to pay for that much lost but its their stuff up. Piss me off when I see they waste customers' time…..
