You usually buy a packet of 4 Eneloops, 2 batteries in the controller and 2 in charger.

The official play and charge kit can be charged via cable inside the controller, RRP is ~$30. Expensive but the battery is Li-ion which is better than 3rd party ones which generally use lower capacity NiMH.

The white eneloops are great for long sessions and stay good for ages without use too. It's a huge difference to my PS5 controller which I have to remember to plug in regularly.

If your PC has BT, you’re good. I use mine with BT. I dont know about mac though.
But I heard that the dongle has better performance and enables rumblei believe dongle is supposed to also enable wireless sound from pc -> controller -> 3.5mm jack?
