Looks like a really good deal to me at 60% off. Closest I can find is $499.95 w/delivery at Ted's Cameras.

Can't go wrong with Manfrotto products.

  It's lightweight and compact, superb for everyday use.
  But the biggest drawback for me is the 40mm base, which limits your head options and I guess if you use another head, it might not be able to fold it backwards and makes the closed length considerably longer.

  Can't comment on the price but in general these tripods are built like tanks. Really good quality.

  ~4 years ago a good an aluminium one (i think, was ~$180) and it's incredibly solid. really nice grips and clasp too.

  Worth pointing out that this is only 300g lighter than the aluminium one, which is cheaper at $250.
