Hey OzB, First Post, I've been looking at this for a while and snagged it as soon as I saw it at this price, so I thought I should let everyone know.

Let me know if there's any issues.

Thanks. :)

    Good price. Nice find OP.

Is it worth the extra $77 over the 2TB SN770?

    • Depends on your PC.

      • With an i5-11400 and ASUS TUF Gaming B560M-PLUS WiFi. I believe I can use PCIe 4.0, and was wondering whether I should go for this or SN770. Need for both gaming and productivity tasks.

        • For gaming? Not worth it.

For productivity tasks, that would depend on how intense they are.

    • Maybe for productivity, large video exports, but for gaming, Gen 3 and gen 4 nvme load about the same time and in some cases Gen 4 loads slower. I just purchased gen 3 2tb on the basis of this video.

if you want more storage and the speed then yes lol. Its up to u really what your using it for.

    • It is if you're one of the very few people who have a system already capable of maxing out the sn770 to begin with or perform a sustained (300gb+) writes often. Otherwise the 850 will be superseded before you ever notice a difference.

    • If you need to ask, no.

  • I noticed as well but I will pass.

This doesn't come with a heatsink FYI

It's over that magical $300, will have to hold on until it meets that friendly number.

    • +3

      Thanks for the update.

    • +3

Get it for under $300 using the advice in my comment below mate

  • +1

    Great value. Well spotted OP.

  • +24

You can get it for under $300 if you add a second item to your cart to take advantage of the Buy 2, save 7% offer.

Cheapest thing I could quickly find was this magic eraser for $7: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B01LZW65W1/ref=ox_sc_ac…

Adding that to my cart brought the total down to $298.55 delivered.

  • What specs should I look for on an NVMe SSD that would make it laptop-friendly? i.e. won't melt a hole in your laptop without a heatsink.
I hadn't even considered that until I read it on a comment here the other day, but now that I think of it my NVMe in a USB enclosure gets damn hot with sustained transfers

that is very very cheap I am not going to lie

    • It is very very cheap. Bought it for $389 2 months ago.

Grabbed 1 at this price. Thanks so much!

Great find mate. You're a legend!

    • +1

      Really OzBargainer!

  • There is some Cons here :
-Can get hot under heavy load
-High idle power consumption on desktops
    -Lacks AES 256-bit hardware encryption

I am using it for gaming and programming should I worry about them?

    • +2

No, but if you're just gaming and programming this is probably overkill

edit: nvm just saw your username

    • just apply a heatsink, it will be fine.

  • +2

Got one, could not resist the price, lol
Who can advise good heatsink for PS5?

  • Overall, better speed and warranty policy than US version 980 Pro

  • 2tb always costs a little more than 1tb times 2? I already have 1 ssd in my computer, do I need a second ssd for computer?

Was going to buy 1tb with heatsink for ps5 now tempted to buy this for computer!

    • the sn750 2TB was $220~$230ish…gone!

  • +2
