They also donate 25 meals to OzHarvest for each qualifying account opened. I signed up for the account, the process was quick and efficient, they seem to have very up to date systems, I was impressed. However I should have realised I am never going to spend $250.00 at supermarkets over five transactions* unless I become a doomsday prepper. It may work for you.
*Spend $250 across 5 transactions at grocery stores or supermarkets using the linked Visa Debit card by the end of the following month after your account was opened.

    • they seem to have very up to date systems

Have you seen the net banking??

Some services go down once a day too. I switched to Macquarie real quick.

      • Account opening was fast and easy and card was was delivered quickly but no, I have not spent much time on their web banking site. I remember Citibank having a very poor web banking site and the old Virgin Money was a shocker.

That means gift cards sold through the Woolworths Group gift card portal will count, because that has an MCC of 5411. In other words:

      • Gift cards purchased here will count.

      • Gift cards purchased through the dedicated discounted Woolworths Group gift card portals that you can access through automotive clubs, Woolworths Mobile, Woolworths Insurance, Student Edge, Entertainment Book, etc will count as well.

  • +1

    Buy gift cards at supermarkets

    • thats an idea, they dont exclude any products in the t and c. I also dont spend $50 per shop, except for tobacco

      • … or you could purchase discounted Woolworths Group gift cards through their discounted gift card portal (assuming you have access and think you will purchase items from Woolworths etc in the future).

you have to use debit card, I think they mean instore

            @screensaver: Are you sure?

Clause 7 of the terms and conditions of the offer clearly states:

A Qualifying Purchase includes any Card Present, Card Not Present, Online or Digital purchase processed via the Visa International Card Network.

    Worse than last year's deal

AFR news: ANZ Banking Group in exclusive talks to buy Suncorp Bank

    • +1

I signed up for that and google pay did not work on my phone

      • -5

That's because Suncorp bank is owned by Citibank (which doesn't allow Google pay at least RN) A big bummer for a lot of non Samsung android users

        • Suncorp is no way owned by Citibank.

Firstly if it was why would NAB want to sell Suncorp to a competitor ANZ and why would NAB also trying to get in on the acquisition of Suncorp last month.

          • @Kyle-K: https://www.suncorp.com.au/banking/credit-cards.html

Read the very bottom of page

National Australia Bank Limited (ABN 12 004 044 937, AFSL and Australian Credit Licence 230686) (“NAB”) is the credit provider and issuer of Suncorp Clear Options Credit Cards. Suncorp-Metway Ltd ABN 66 010 831 722 (“Suncorp Bank”) promotes and distributes Suncorp Clear Options Credit Cards on NAB's behalf under an agreement with NAB. NAB has acquired the business relating to this credit from Citigroup Pty Ltd (ABN 88 004 325 080, AFSL and Australian Credit Licence 238098) (“Citi”) and has appointed Citi to assist to administer the Credit Cards. Suncorp Bank will not guarantee or otherwise support NAB's obligations under the contracts or agreements connected with the Credit Cards (other than those relating to Suncorp Internet Banking and Suncorp Telephone Banking).

            • @USER DC: Citibank is a co-branded provider for credit. Like various other credit products in the market Suncorp is white labelling them for credit products.

This part of Citibank's business became part of NAB when the acquisition went through.

Once again as stated why would NAB need to buy? something they already own see here! .

Both NAB and Bank of Queensland have also been shopping a acquisition of Suncorp over the last three months.

Additionally, You're correct in your assumption that this also would affect Credit cards from being able to be added to Google Pay but this offer is for the debit card and that is eligible to be added to Google Pay.

        • That's because Suncorp bank is owned by Citibank (which doesn't allow Google pay at least RN) A big bummer for a lot of non Samsung android users

What on Earth are you talking about. Suncorp is in no way owned by Citibank. Banking is a small part of the Suncorp Group business, their primary business is insurance. Selling the banking division would fit in with their current trend of divesting non-core business units (Wealth, Life, and now banking).

    • +1

That required 30 (1c min) purchases over 3 months for $60 vs 5 purchases (totalling $250) in a month for $25.
Used GPay. Spent 30c. Received the $60.
Added new account in this promotion.

Wait so ANZ will own a share in Citibank (since Suncorp is owned by Citibank) aka Now owned by NAB. ?

  • Existing customer. Signed up for a new account in this promotion.

    • How do you know you're eligeble doing it this way?

      • +2

        Opened through Deal link
Worked last Deal as existing customer.
Will wait for others to confirm.

  • Existing customer.
Do not want to try new account.

I heard the rumor that they are going to drop the bank department.
    Is that true?

    • True - it's a rumour. It's even on Twitter.

Most likely continue as Suncorp Bank.
      Won't affect this Deal!

AFR "Street Talk" reports ANZ is in takeover talks for Suncorp banking operations, worth an estimated $5B, leaving Suncorp to concentrate on insurance.

"Sources said ANZ was keen to add Suncorp’s big retail business into its existing network, while Suncorp’s assessing options to divest its bank and focus solely on general insurance.
Should the pair agree a deal it would be the biggest M&A deal in Australian banking since the financial crisis. In 2008, Westpac Banking Corp bought St George and Commonwealth Bank of Australia acquired Bankwest.
Buying Suncorp would instantly add about $60 billion of customer loans to ANZ’s balance sheet, 80 per cent of which would be mortgages, at a time when it’s talking about rebuilding its Australian retail and commercial bank and trying to use technology to bolster its customer proposition.
Suncorp has offloaded its life insurance, wealth and smash repairs arms. Divesting Suncorp bank would leave it as Australia’s second-largest general insurer, behind Insurance Australia Group, and end its long-held “bancassurer” structure."

Customer since it was "SGIO" - Qld Govt Insurance Office. Added a building society & later became a privatised bank & insurer

Insurance was always the major part of its business. Seems they are returning to their core business in uncertain times.

    • +2

Opened new account very easily - just adds to existing accounts.
Did that last year, as long term Suncorp customer. Received $60. Then closed that account.
