I wonder when the 4G version will be out.

  • +45

urgh. i really should stop coming to OZB when I'm broke.

    • All the more reason to come to OZB ;)

      • unless your broke cuz of OZB.. loll is there a OZB anonymous group i can join?

        • +2

Yea, there is actually a coupon on here for that club. It's 50% off, so only $200 instead of $400 for membership.

  • +1

    sad. no white :(

    • +10

      Blue is much prettier imo

  • now the bigger question for the gs3, white or blue?!

    • +10

get both! you gotta catch them all! White edition AND Blue edition! }X-D

  • +1

So you actually have physical stock of the 'blue' ones? or expecting in the next few days?

edit: considering most stores have stated the blue models will be dispatched a week after release (Jun 5+) as per samsung.

    • yes, the BLUE colour is avail

      • thanks i've ordered it…. if it is dispatched before handtech (UK) then i can cancel my order there :) …i hope this doesn't have a defective back cover lol

        • I have a feeling it is… unless the OP says otherwise.
Blue S3 have already been sold (in the UAE or something) but they've been recalled, no stores have any ideas when working stock is available… hopefully I'm wrong but it might be a case of having to return it soon afterwards.

BTW, any chance of pick-up? do you guys have a local store anywhere?

        • @nucgaek, Pretty sure they arent a bricks and mortar store ie i dont think they have a store in the Carlingford region for you. And why you want to upgrade from your Desire HD so soon?

AND white looks so much better IMHO

        • G'day nucgaek, our head office is in St Peters NSW, and we have warehouses in Sydney and overseas. Really sorry we are not geared for pick ups at moment.

        • +1

Can u please confirm the back is not defective? As u are not selling white when white is available before blue from uk

        • It must be the 2 month wait until ICS comes out for DHD :P Too bad HTC doesn't care much for your phone either.

Also, as the wise users of whirlpool have said, "Toilet seat white" makes it look like a toy, and it'll lose colour easier.

        • Oh well, at least your HQ is based in Australia.

Just to make sure, this is overseas/grey stock right? Not from the same batch that Vodafone/Telechoice are supposed to get sometime soon?

        • lol you still have the money after your Macbook Air?

        • +1

make sure you let ppl know that even though topbuy website says repairs will be done at a local service centre, that a) you have no local service centre in vic and phone needs to be sent back to hong kong. b) you hve no phone number ppl can call for warranty issues so it takes days just to get your authority number to send something back and c) you have no local service centre! you may be wondering but i am currently going thru a warranty issue with my s2 thru topbuy and it has been 3 days of messages and still no idea of what is going on with my faulty phone!

      • Can you take a picture of the box?

  • +26

    Don't pay $719, pay $726.95! :)

    • -2

If only was going overseas could claim back the GST

      • +3

I dont think you can get GST back. It's grey import.

        "Q: Can I get TRS ?

        A: Sorry no."

        • ohh true… thanks

        • strange they saying yes to ABN and no to TRS , if they have ABN they have to invoice with GST , if they invoicing from oversea, they don't have ABN (invoicing business)

        • they might be billing you from overseas office.

        • they do the same as Kogan, have a company overseas who your actually buying from and no Tax receipt is given.

  • how come shipping is so expensive? would rather pick up.

    • +4

Make it free shipping for ozbargain customers :) ?

    • they send em over from hong kong.thats why it takes so long.

  • +12

Subscribe to their newsletter to get a $10 coupon code to use towards it to bring the price down to $716.95 delivered.

    • Oh poop. Wish someone had told me this earlier.

  • +6

Dang, who pays $700 for a phone!

      • +13

most phones are made from china, including iPhones.. your point is?

        • +1

          his/her point is s/he is using a home-made phone.

        • +6

My point was only to poke fun at wolfenator87's post the other day.
          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/71167

I am aware that most phones are made in china just joking around.

        • +1

ahhh very good. nice ozb references

      • Hey, Nokia brick phones for $30 do the job for some people don't they? I'd like to see your phone survive a 500 metre blasting.

        • +8

which idiot would worry about a phone dropping at 500m?

frankly, if my phone is dropping from that high, I would have much bigger things to worry about.

        • Someone who is selling Nokia bricks I guess. My point was that the phones last longer then the standard 3+ years that these last.

        • +2

if you have very low expectations, ie. you just want a box that makes and receive phone calls, then ,you wouldn't care about phones that last < 3 years.

but my pants pocket is valuable real estate, i want to be able to do more than just making/receiving calls.

which actually brings me to another augment: that nothing is so important that you need a mobile dedicated to just take/make calls, unless you are a brain surgeon or something. If you are not a surgeon, all the phone calls can wait till you reach office/home tbh.

that's why I need other features than making/taking calls to justify carrying a mobile.

    • +15

its approaching iphone pricing and not really sure its worth it. galaxy nexus is about $400 now and still a good phone, or for $519 there is One X which is pretty similar to S3.

      • +2

Could just wait a couple of months. HTC One X and Nexus didn't take too long to reach reasonable prices. I'm not really expecting anyone to sell the most anticipated Android phone this year for a bargain price before local release.

      • +5

so what are you saying?? it's OK to pay up to $700 for an Iphone but not a Galaxy S3?
You don't have to buy it if you're not happy with the price!!

        • +3

+1 It's funny some ppl think it's ok to pay $700 for an outdated phone but not for a new phone with the latest tech :) Not saying that I would pay $700 for this phone, or the iphone

        • +3

It's cause it doesn't have the GeeBees

        • +3

          haters gonna hate.

      • +1

You forget it has superior hardware to the iPhone, and yet still cheaper.

        • -1

Graphics chip isn't, but everything else is.

        • Once in a while, you can get 50% off iTunes gift card to buy all the apps for iPhone, which is not the case for Android!!

        • +1

          I'm fairly sure it is.

Samsung made the cpu/gpu in the iPhone 4S.

        • +2

          @leiiv
you must be in the apple zealot camp.

any decent android user will tell you they have under $1 deals quite frequently on the markets, and guess what, you don't have to give money upfront to apple!

you will be charged according to what you use… a concept quite difficult to grasp for some. ;)

the fact that you always can get huge % discounts off the itunes gift card is already a big hint that the prices are already over inflated.

for all the years you are living in Australia, have you seen woolies/coles give 50% on their cards? lol.

    • +2

      chuck norris doesn't.

    • ^Agreed, what does this phone do that others dont?

    • +1

I paid $840 for my SGS2, and I only regret it a little bit :D

      • I paid $520 thanks to a pricing error.

        I REGRET NOTHING!

    • +5

Apple iPhone was $999 when it was rls'ed and millions paid and lined up for it.

      $700 is nothing. lol

    • It will go down pretty fast IMO. All Android phones do. No individual phone has near the market share of an iPhone, so they can't afford to keep iPhone-esque pricing for very long. They're mainly pricing themselves individually towards the early adopter who's willing to pay to get things earlier than everyone else. Once that market dries up, pricing will dip steadily.

  • +6

I am very happy with S2 from HN for $394. Why you really need S3?

    • +1

      Still happy with my S!

      • +1

        Still happy with my SGH-250!

        • +12

and who can forget the Nokia 3310?

        • Ericsson (not sony-ericsson) GA318 ftw!
no other phone can beat the ring volume of this baby. :)

        • +6
        • +5

Still happy with my 1610.. 3310, K508i, Galaxy Mini… Damn ive wasted alot of money over the years on stuff that all does the same thing :/

        • +1

Ah the memories! I had "Enter Sandman" as the ringtone.

        • +1

          still happy with my brick

        • You still can play "Enter Sandman" with the S3 as a ring tone, hell, probably now you could let it play the MTV when someone calls you.

    • No doubt S2 is a good phone, but the reason I held out for the S3 was the screen. S2 has a 4.3" screen but only 480*800 resolution, same as Android phones from 2010 (even the same as the Nexus S which has a smaller 4" screen). So basically it's old tech in terms of the resolution.

      • You don't need a high resolution on such a small display anyway. You may notice pixel density if you use a magnifying glass.

  • +4

I smelt something not right. Neither HK nor UK have blue version in stock currently due to "the highest internal quality standard" issue. Where does topbuy get from these blue version only stock? Official announcement said blue version stock delivery will delay 2-3 weeks and no definite date confirmed so far.

  • +1

how much stock do you have?
i dont like being on back order
    i just read this
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/samsung/9297469/Samsun…
i wonder how you guy are getting stock?

  • +3

Shoppingsquare has the note for 465 + 30 for postage. This is $25 cheaper then your price plus postage.

Edit, Its also $2.95 cheaper if i go through Kogan, I wanted to buy a note tonight but i will need a better price before i bite.

  • expansys site is cheaper than that….
and by 3-5 days does it start counting on the day i buy the phone?

  • I just had a live chat with Ada on their online live chat service. They have 30-50 in stock.

    • 30-50 sounds more like what they expect.

I very much doubt they have any stock- and think that there sales department doesnt know about the delay to the blue colour.

If you order from here- i would expect you would have to wait 2 weeks + for your order to be shipped.

  • +11

    Am I missing something here?
The OP says don't pay $719, but this deal ends up being $726.95?

  • +1

    3.75% moneyback co cashback + $10 newsletter subscription off = $36 discount;
brings the total cost to about $691 shipped.
    Edit: Cashback varies as below:
    moneybackco: 5% http://www.moneybackco.com.au/merchants/Topbuy-com-au/
    starthere: 2.50% to 3.75% http://www.starthere.com.au/shopping/Topbuy-com-au/
    buckscoop: 4% http://www.buckscoop.com.au/cashback/topbuy/

    • Well, none of that is mentioned in the OP!

      • Cashbacks are mentioned in the store profile just above the first comment, but surprisingly only starthere is shown.

        • Start Here is the new MoneyBackCo, and e are still waiting for BuckScoop to get back to us regarding to further integration…

  • hmm, do you think the 28degree price protection would apply to this? it is an australian company right?

  • +11

no tax invoice, shipped from overseas, not mentioned clearly on website, not interested

  • +6

    lol love it - https://www.topbuy.com.au/tbcart/pc/images/banner/bigbanner/…
SERVER YOU BETTER! I'm tippin these guys aren't Italian.

    • +7

      haha . nice catch.

i think with s3 its just hype, wait for a couple of weeks. the price will start decreasing .. tids2k@xda

      • Probably true of most gadgets nowadays (the hype part, at least)

      • +1

way overhyped. when you can get a comparable phone in the One X, which also looks better, why would you pay an extra $300+? They both do the same things and are latest tech.

    • +3

Looking at the rep's history, not so much of a good reputation on OzBargain.

      • I've never had any issues with TopBuy….

        • +5

          I have.

  • -1

Devil's Advocate here; isn't this just a Galaxy Nexus with a quad-core CPU (which will do what exactly?), a Micro-Sd slot and Samsung's crappy homegrown version of Android 4.0 being sold for a $250 premium over the original?

    • +6

Bigger battery, camera fetures. Also a few software features such as S Voice, Pop-up play and Smart Stay. As with all phones you pay a premium when buying it as soon as it is released.

Galaxy Nexus/SGS2 are better value, but SGS3 is still a better phone.

    • +3

Not really - better camera, bigger/better screen, thinner, lighter, bigger battery, GLONASS support, BT 4.0…to name a few.

  • +2

Just a warning. These aren't being shipped until after 02/06.

    • New Release, stock dispatch on 2nd June!

I though I saw that somewhere but couldn't find where again, they definitely should be more clear about it. It's under the product details.

  • +5

"Be the first to OWN a Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300"

Pretty bold claim (pun intended) considering it might be available tomorrow at Optus and Voda.
