Does it have access to the Google Play store or is it still banned?

I looked @ some reviews on youtube it looks like this phone comes with google play pre-installed.

  • No bad for the price is there are google services

    • +3

no one is paying retail on this thing in 2022 so half price is a bit of a stretch

no 5Ghz wifi is a bit shit

maybe $99 in a month on clearance

assuming you're ok with CCP back doors and data collection - but that goes for oppo, 1+, xiaomi, etc etc

      • +9

        Free Assange!

      • +6

Then Free access by CIA to all 'merican (here goes iCloud) platforms & they have more proven experience (tapping to Merkel etc.)
Stop with the worst in lifetime Western propaganda. The major consequences are world inflation, lack of supply, political revenge…

        • Easy answer to all the above, AOSP. If the kernel can't be unlocked, don't buy the phone.

          • -5

@mattomatic: amazing how these CCP trolls are quick to defend their masters

like outlining that the CCPs has complete control over industry out of china is propaganda lol

you have to be pretty far gone

            • +1

@desync: Encrypt what you want but endpoints like this aren't secure. If you want something that is, don't use them.

No one cares about the photos of me.
              My cats or my wife.

              @desync:

like outlining that the CCPs has complete control over industry out of china

You know that is plain false.

              • +1

@Techie4066: you are living in a fantasy

there is nothing any company or person can do against the CCP, look up the meaning of dictatorship

what happen to Jack Ma after saying the most ridiculously mild statement ever is a tiny taste of how the insignificant people are

                • -3

@desync: typical brainwashed western propagandist, lol, looking to bad mouth in every opportunity even unrelated topic, work hard! propaganda alone won't catch up! what happened to julian assange? nothing anyone can do against the western power elite! this is unrelated topic, if you re so human right, go protest to free assange! oh yeaah what about lie in wmdin iraq?.to bad thousands are death…….keep this forum clean from propaganda!

                  • +2

                    @izkai67: ultrasensitive CCP troll

i merely stated a simple fact, the phone could be a decent deal if you are OK with CCP spyware - it's completely related to the offer

now you want to talk about unrelated topic while bringing up julian assange.. lol you halfwit

                    • -2

@desync: I am not even chinese, you 're half baked devil! google knows when you go to please yourself anytime wnywhere even colour of your undies, yet you don't mind. I hate brainwashed idiot who think they can spread lie and try to brainwash others to think the same, do you make the same comment with google product, iphone? off course not, it doesn't suit your evil agenda. The best propagandist like you can say is "ccp troll" cause you can't say anything else. The world is a better and peaceful place without desperate propagandist .

            • @desync: I'm not sure what use the CCP has with my consumer and websurfing data it already has from my tp link deco modems and the keystrokes from my keyboard. I don't work in any sensitive industry so I'm happy for them to subsidize my lifestyle in exchange for them to know why I buy german-made washing machines or japanese made cars. If this drives them to improve the reliability of their cars, they might even be able to mine information like how frequently I do my groceries and what time I go to work.

              • @cadwalader: and that's perfectly fine as i suggested in my comment, for some people their phone is the most personal thing in the digital world

yet some people want to pretend this spyware doesn't exist and then want to talk about the problems we have here in the west… absolute clowns lol

                • @desync: I mean both governments are definitely spying on us but if the US want an extraordinary rendition on me, our government will roll over and help it. If China wants to threaten my personal safety (there aren't any special sanitized terms for it unlike the US), they are going to have a lot harder time doing so without the support of our government and they're going to have an even harder time covering it up.

While both countries purportedly "stand for" different things, on the risks, precedence and ease of access, the probability of threat to my personal safety from both countries/alignments remains quite balanced.

        • +2

Interested where you can quote a reliable source that any government organisation including the ‘CIA’ has access to an iPhones confidential files via a back door. You made a big statement now back it up.

Got this phone as a burner for my son to take to school. Has play store on it and no problems downloading anything.

    • +3

Hope your son is using the burner wisely

    • Does your son use ANOM?

  • Doesn't look like there is any custom ROM support for these yet. Doh!

  • Pokemon cards, music practice. All the normal things

  • +6

3gb ram is going to be not enough for most

    • +1

True, min 4 GB needed to run new Android apps i believe….

      • really? that seems a bit much, is this for games?

    • +2

6GB is the new entry, 4GB is the minimum for anything above $99.

  • +7

This seems old, overpriced & underfeatured.

For example, 5G moto G51 for $50 more last weekend had bigger 6.8" FHD+ 120HZ ultra-smooth display, 5000mAh Battery, 50MP triple camera system, 6GB RAM, Android 11 with promise of 12, etc.
That was half this week's price.

    • +4

Yeah, not to mention the Motorola G51 has 2-3x perfomance of the Y6s.

Huawei kept making the Y6 models for ages because they were pre-ban and exempt if they only made minor changes. It's too poor to compete now.

      • +1

Noticed the Y5 had annual upgrades for years. Now know why!

Have an ancient $79 3G+ Y5 model… somewhere. Came with $50 Voda SIM.

Don't know why anyone would want old, slow tech at this price.

    • +1

      g51 also has nfc

  • +5

Would get Moto E7 at Woolies for $79 instead if need a cheap phone. Locked to Vodafone but costs only about $6 to unlock off ebay.

  • Paid 149 at big w in November last year its an OK phone but very basic.

3,020mAh Battery to last all day
