We upgraded to this from the V6 and it is an absolute beast. The accessories are a great addition too (though not compatable with the V6). The included soft roller head is excellent for timber floors.

    • +1

You can buy converters/adapters if you want to use accessories from older models.

      • I think not much point because adapters cannot transfer power to heads.

        • Correct, not the powered ones.

    • +3

To me v10 is way too heavy to use one handed. Imagine you lift that to vaccum ceiling corners

Decided to go with V8 upgrade from V6 after several years use

  • +3

Got it for $699 last month.

    • -7

Got it for $599 the month before.

      • +11

Imma call BS on this real quick. No OzB posts for it under $700 this year.

      • -1

Got it for $499 the month before.

        • +2

My cousin was paid $1 for it five months before you bought it.

  • +1

Go v15. Never had so much fun vacuuming before 🤣

    • +3

I added a laser pointer to my v10. Never had so much fun too

      • At first I was horrified 😂, but it turned to joy when I actually could see what I was picking up!

  • +1

Paid $713 a few weeks ago

  • +8

Don’t believe rrp of $1200, it’s very often under $800 (even 2.5 years ago I got it for $699)

    • Don’t forget the crazy inflation though.
Got mine for $699 during EOFY sale last month, loving it. Time to retire my DC54.

  • Is this the same model as the one on the Dyson website? Can't tell if this has the anti-tangle or not. There's also different accessories between this and the website model.

    • +1

If it doesn't mention the anti-tangle head, it's the "old" model 99% of the time. The one with the new anti-tangle head goes for a higher price.

      • +2

Correct, per description on the eBay listing this model has the direct drive head, the anti tangle one is the Motorbar head

        • Do you think the motorbar is worth the difference? I bought this deal this afternoon and eBay says I can’t cancel the order. Have sent dyson a direct message to see if they can cancel so I can buy through the website.

Edit: sorry just seen that you are a dyson rep. Can you help in this regard?

          • @Bjk94: Definitely worth it if you have pets or drop lots of hair. It won't tangle the motorhead due to the anti tangle vanes.

I had a DC45 and always had to cut and detangle the power head. I upgraded to the V10 with the new motorhead and life is much better. It doesn't tangle at all.

The motorhead isn't great at picking up larger debris like cereal though. It shines most for hair.

          • @Bjk94: Unfortunately I am a frontline rep, working in partner retailers and don’t have any access to the direct team who operate the Dyson website and eBay.

I would say this, Motorbar won’t improve your cleaning performance, it’ll simply reduce the need for cutting hairs off with scissors which is very easy and I do on my own units at home. Id only recommend the Motorbar to those who have several family members with long hair that may wrap around the bar as it helps all but eliminate this.
It is my understanding that the Motorbar head will become available eventually, I’d say that it is more beneficial to most people to have the fluffy head included in the box than the anti tangle head, but it should be possible to upgrade to Motorbar down the road if you wished to. Hope that helps

            • @Anthropomorphised: Thanks.

One on the Dyson website is the same price $799. With ShopBack cashback, price comes to the same so kind of a no brained to get the newer one.

  • Can anyone recommend which Dyson to buy? So many variations!

I am coming from a v8 absolute plus that I got over 4 years ago.

I have a dog and need the anti tangle attachment.

Saw the Outsize deal and went and checked it - God that thing is huge and heavy so decided not to buy.

I have a four bed house plus two living rooms, kitchen and laundry.

    • +1

I upgraded from the DC34 to the V10 Absolute+ ~6 months ago & no regrets. Like you, I checked out the Outsize & it's pretty ridiculous! This video helped me choose: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ct0tS2EchKg. Good luck!

      • Thanks bud!

    • +1

What is wrong with your V8 that is making you want to upgrade?

      • The motor is making weird noises affecting the suction and the battery only gives me around 10mins of usage.
Have cleaned it to ensure no dirt or anything else blocking the way.

  • +2

Does anyone know if they're refurbished models? I think I heard before they sell refurbished models on their eBay site

    • +1

      It says brand new.

  • Is this better than V10 Animal? Waiting for the price to drop close to $600 again…

    • Depends on the accessories you need.

    • +2

Includes more accessories than animal. The fluffy head dedicated for hardfloors is only on Absolute models

      • Cheers.

  • I bought V8 $569 instead. V10 too heavy

    • +1

V10 has quite a few improvements, dust bin emptying and hair removal is so much easier than before!

      • Yeah but it's way too heavy I tested it out, try doing it one hand for 30 mins. Suction wise it's about the same. I'm saving $200. That will buy me another battery in 2 years time to extend life

My V6 lasted me total 7 years from TGG bought 2015 changed to a battery once official Dyson one and I serviced the head myself several times no issues

        • +2

My wife who is 45kg has no issues using the Dyson v10. Maybe it is time to hit the gym?

          • @RADICALIST: Weight is not the only thing but I don't think v10 is value for money

            https://youtu.be/xKgTDGnbhj0

Not for the floor but do the ceiling 30 mins with that probably is gym exercise

            • +1

@neonlight: Yes I agree, it isn't value for money as the extra suction power for a handstick isn't really necessary over a V8 which also has decent suction power.

              • @RADICALIST: Cool. Good to know you are on the same page. I didn't feel that extra $200 is worth it. I don't have a pet but if I do then maybe v10 for the hair catch. And that extra weight although not a lot it does take a toll if you use it often and doing corners above arm level

I feel bad I missed the EoFY deal on the v8 was $479 or something

    • +1

      Different models. Animal vs absolute.

  • Does this model have the anti tangle thing ?

    • +2

No description says direct drive head. Anti tangle head is called the motorbar.

  • Thanks just pulled the trigger. First Dyson so pretty excited!

  • The LG Cordzero A9N Flex can be had for less and is a better unit overall imo (two batteries, stand, lighter, no trigger, quieter).

    • Yeah but after sales service is no where as good. Suction wise I don't think LG is on par

They give you two batteries because the unit is not as efficient probably require 1.5x battery to do the same thing for the same run duration

Personally I think the eBay plus EOFY Dyson v8 was a better buy under $490… And I missed it

  • +2

Even at a discount, I still think it's insane that a vacuum cleaner costs $750, let alone over a grand, especially when the battery lasts two years as best.

Top tip for any Dyson owner, make sure you get a warranty replacement for your battery at 23 months, if you haven't needed one already by then.

    • +1

Battery is considered consumable…its only 1 year not two years I thought. Unless you are saying you can claim battery deterioration as warranty which I doubt it

You are correct it shouldn't cost $750+ for a vaccum hence I went V8 for the cheaper price point.

I know Xiaomi roimi and vaccum exist but personally they are cheaper quality for a reason and battery not really replaceable. All imports no warranty

I have one Xiaomi would never buy another

      • Whats wrong with the Xiaomi you have?

        • +1

Had the dreami Xiaomi not really that good runs hot, short run time poor battery life. Suction on youtube was showing as good as V6 but in reality not really

          • +1

@neonlight: Also getting spares on certain models can be next to impossible. My dreame is getting close to been a glorified paperweight.

    • +3

Probably an unpopular opinion but IMHO Dyson is one of the most overrated brands on the planet. We have two of them, so I’m basing this on my own experience. We have one of these stick ones, and a ‘ball’ one. The ball especially is horrible to use. It struggles dealing with anything larger than a marble, makes a lot of noise when you suck up something solid and is a pain to clean. I rather pay money for bags than having to peel out piles of dust from the canister every time. Friends have a Miele C3 and that seems so much better.

Only thing they do well is remove animal hair.

      • Yea I agree it's a premium brand. You can think of it like Apple iPhone vs other Android smartphones. You pay for quality and service. IMO I don't want pay for bags and it's not environmental friendly with paper bags filled with dust every time per use…not to mention ongoing costs

Bagless FTW just wear masks when you throw out if you are really concerned

        • I just don’t see the quality factor with Dyson. We spent 800 bucks on a ball unit and it’s worse than the $100 vacuum we had before. I’m ok with our stick one, just for the convenience. But it’s mostly suitable for a quick top up - not a major clean (to be fair, our new home has ducted vacuum and nothing gets close to that).

          • @Kontiki: The ball one is only $299, I wouldn't pay more than that….let alone $800….

Corded Vacuums shouldn't cost that much

      • +1

Perhaps unfair comparison, Dyson cordless will never match any corded bagged vacuum for suction power, they are just much more convenient. I vacuum wayyyy more with my Dyson and it does a satisfactory job

      • +1

Dyson handhelds are great (V10 above) but agree the balls were overhyped and overrated. We had a Miele C3 which rocked, but it's been replaced by a Dyson v10 because the convenience was way better than the drop in performance

    Not a great deal

Paid $719 with a free DOK 2-3 years ago

  • Any good deals on v8

  • Anyone else think these suck?

I bought one from one of these deals and it is kinda lackluster, it's also got a very short battery life.

Am I a victim of a bad copy or was I expecting more for nearly $1000 for a fan on a stick?

  • I had this for just over 2 years and the trigger failed. Seems to be a common issue with the design. Called up Dyson and they sent a replacement. Should have a switch instead as pressing the trigger to vacuum the entire house can be tiring on the finger.

    • So v10 still a trigger like V8 and v6 I see the design not changed in that

  • While this deal is expired, the price is even better now - $749 lol
