I had the 3 month trial for $1 that ended earlier in the year. When I log in to purchase 'Xbox Game Pass Ultimate — Ultimate 1 Month' it shows $1, so I assume I should still qualify for that with this email?

So I should only need to purchase 8 x Xbox Live Gold 3 month keys ($57.94 with the discount code).

Then, make sure recurring payments are disabled (somewhere? likely already disabled at this point though?) and redeem the first code. Enable recurring payments for a bonus month, then disable it… redeem, enable, disable, repeat…?

Finally, purchase the Xbox GPU for $1 and it should convert all those months I've just redeemed?

My GPU is ending 31 Jul 2022 (end of this month). Recurring billing is disabled for now. Is this the process?

  Just did this myself - reactivated an expired sub however.
  Redeem 1 3 month code (in this process you will have the option to enable reoccuring billing)
  turn off reoccurring billing
  redeem next card
  turn off
  
  You will have to repeat the process for each card to get the extra months - however, on the 9th card the extra month from reoccuring billing will cause the activation to fail as you will go over the max 3 years. To get around this, simply turn off reoccurring billing.
  
  Lastly you can simply upgrade to GPU by paying for 1 month as you stated

  Turn off recurring billing. Enter code click next. The next page before you confirm the redemption will have a toggle to turn on recurring billing. Make sure it’s on, hit redeem, you’ll get 4 months. Go into subs and the manage sub link and go through the settings to turn off recurring billing. Rinse and repeat with code #2 etc.
  
  You have to uncheck recurring on the 9th code otherwise the free month pushes you over 36months limit and it will error.

  As far as I understand it would be best to do this after your subscription expires, so that you get 90 days instead of 50 days per 3-month token. Keep in mind there is a small risk in not doing it straight away, if the seller does the wrong thing. But you only have a week…

  Note you don't get the option for recurring billing extra months from Rewards redemptions, so to maximise it add the retail ones first for the extra months then apply Microsoft rewards codes afterward (if you don't have enough rewards points and need to buy any).

If I go to turn it off I'm told on the "are you sure you want to end your winning streak?" page that I'll lose all the Ultimate benefits (even though I'm paid up until 7/22/2025).

      Cancelled it just yesterday, as soon as I saw this deal. No brainer for me and wouldn't risk waiting for my gpu to expire as microsoft might reduce the 1:1 conversion as I believe it is a loophole.
      
      It should allow you to cancel.
      
      Maybe you have just cancelled the recurring payments. So you need to click another cancellation at the bottom as I remember it, in order to cancel it fully.
      
      They even refunded me my $1 straight away back to my PayPal.

  Max is 36 months, so anything over that, exact to the day will be forfeited. This might be the case why you've lost 1 month and not the recurring payment being turned off

Worked for me, could only use 8 out of the 9 codes i bought but i gave my daughter the 9th

Only stupid thing i did was activate the $1 offer before adding the codes on my microsoft acct but lucily noticed before i actuivated the codes. I just created another microsoft acct and will use that on the xbox. Its only for the kids. I dont use the other microsoft acct for anything else at all

I now have some mental date for renewal of 30th April 2025. Not bad for $71 even with the code i cannot use

  If you already have an existing sub, it will instantly convert any added Gold to GPU at roughly half the rate (3 months to 50 days). This isn't really worth it.

If anyone is having issues with the auto renewal settings due to underage kids profiles being restricted, you will need to change the setting for the child account to "require approval for every spending… " - turn it off while doing this trick and switch back on after.

My question is do I need to leave the autorenew on after applying the $1 XGPU upgrade? Or can I switch off the auto renew without risking the XGPU subscription? And is it 100% not going to try and charge me $15 each month? It says reoccuring billing each month for $15.95, but does state next charge is July 2025.. Just need some validation here please.

  Buy codes now, do not reveal. If something changes they will refund you.
  I expired yesterday and this morning immediately redeemed like this
  
  Expired GPU: 23rd July (This will actually expire you at 10am AEST on 24th)
  Step 1: Check you are expired
  Step 2: Make sure recurring billing off
  Step 3: Redeem 3 month Gold Code and click yes for extra free month to turn on recurring billing
  Step 4: Turn off Recurring Billing
  Step 5: Repeat step 3 and 4 until the 9th code
  Step 6: On 9th Code you wont be allowed the extra free month so uncheck recurring billing
  Step 7: Buy code or pay 1 month GPU to get extra month (up to current day) GPU
  
  Note: If you expire on 31st and you do the codes on the first you may just get lucky with the 9th code.
  
  This is mine for a total of 70 bucks for 9 codes + 16 for GPU.

        Try 2 things
        
        1) Sign out of Xbox and sign in again
        2) Try on mobile.
        
        I also think there’s a time thing because 10am is midnight where ever Microsoft is and perhaps they have 1-2 hours of billing downtime.

      It sounds like you entered the new codes with Game pass ultimate already active.
      
      If you enter codes with GPU Active they will give you 50 days instead of 90 per card.
      
      9 x 50 days is 450 days from today which brings us to 19th October so I’m guessing that’s what happened
