Great little utility.

With Hard Disk Sentinel, you'll always have a complete overview of your hard disk drive's health, so you can spot potential problems before they result in an irrecoverable data catastrophe. Hard Disk Sentinel also works on hard disks that are being used in external USB or e-SATA enclosures and RAID controllers. No need to use separate tools to verify internal hard disks, external hard disks, SSDs, disks in RAID arrays as these are all included in a single software. Not sure if the direct link is me specific, but here

If you miss the install time window….. just change your computer clock settings to a few hours back and it will work fine :)
    At least this worked previously!

  • Is it a generic link or an email locked link anyone wanna share?

From memory they normally are the one download link for everyone

I dunno if it is personalised, but this is the link I was sent

      It works, great! Thanks

    Revision History for those interested.

Isn't 5.70 provided for free directly from the HD sentinel website? -> https://www.hdsentinel.com/download.php

Giveawayoftheday has some google review comments about embedded malware, I'd be suspicious too

    • +2

Giveawayoftheday is a legit site, I'm guessing people who got malware were not using ad blockers and clicked fake download links.

You can download it from the official site yes but it will be a 30 day trial not a permanent activation.

    • +1

No its not, STD has a price, the link is for trials,

      https://www.hdsentinel.com/store.php

But this product is commonly given away as new versions come out, so nothing suspicious about the offering and its done regularly too

    • Not free in the link you provided from their site. I Installed it as per your suggestion and it asked the license. So this free version is way better than yr link.

  • Are they accurate with SSD?

i checked the setup.exe within the zip that was downloaded against virustotal.com - it has couple of vendors flag it as sus…

  • +1

Does this also include free spyware? lol

  • Now I regret paying!

  • +1

    I already have 5.7 registered to BitsDuJour.com
Thanks OP. Still + from me.

Why didn't you post it when it was free there?

      • Why don't you monitor OZB Deals ? :-)

        • Argh my bad…now I remember that I did see that deal, but the download link didn't work for some reason, and then I forgot about it. :D

  • +2

Edit: Confirming Simplerick's comment. I ran the setup.exe through virus total or other and it complained about a trojan.

    Antiy-AVL

    Trojan/Generic.ASMalwS.330C
    Jiangmin

    Client-SMTP.Blat.ff

    • surprisingly, the official setup.exe from the website https://www.hdsentinel.com/ also complains about Trojan/Generic.ASMalwS.330C from the vendor Antiy-AVL

      • +2

Seems like a false positive generic detection because the software has SMTP support that you can configure to send you email alerts upon drive status changes.

I never put too much faith in Generic/Heurestic AV detections from one or two vendor when everyone else reports clean.

I use CrystalDiskInfo, always free and has HDD monitoring. I have each drive as a taskbar icon with their temp for quick reference, including SMART alarms.

    • +1

      +1 for CrystalDiskInfo

Nobody use Hard Disk Sentinel, and no big names even vouch for it.

      • I use the Pro Portable version for work a lot it's a very useful tool for diagnosing HDD fail states, www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder vouch it a lot and use it for testing drives before shucking & monitoring drive health.

        • Thanks for the link.
I went on a deep dive and found a lot of new tools.

    • HD Sentinel does the same thing, tray icons with SMART alarms. You can configure it to send you email alerts if SMART data changes,, it also has charts of past SMART readings, monitors drive average/max speeds.

it wanted me to sign in with a credit card

  • Let me guess…. nagware?

    • +1

Been using the free version 5.20 and never had nagware, it's just silent. I'm upgrading to 5.70 and also installing it on a new laptop.

      Thanks OP!

  • Awesome .I didn't know there is such thing called temp email
