I’m more of a BRUT original man but always up for new experiences. Ain’t nothing better than an ice cold Solo on a hot day - now you can smell like it (?) too. This seems like it would be heaven in a can.

Lynx Africa is also a classic I will agree
That's what happens when you drink it.
LYNX; the smell of desperate virgins.
Virgin tradies.
Unheard of!
@Jimothy Wongingtons: Porno films aren’t real life.
@try2bhelpful: Dang
@Jimothy Wongingtons: Got to admit I was a tad disappointed when the “Man in a Van” guys stopped wearing singlets and started wearing T-shirts.
@try2bhelpful: Next thing you'll be telling me that pizza delivery guys are not getting offers all night.
@bargaino: I’ll tell you a secret. If you really want to turn a woman on then actually fix the washing machine.
@try2bhelpful: Yeah, that doesn't really work. See IT Crowd clip:
@bargaino: The trick is to win entry into the 8+ club of Countdown
(Also an It Crowd ep lol)
@Jimothy Wongingtons: However I would say wining the grand final of Only Connect would be more so.
@bargaino: There are some things you can’t overcome.
@try2bhelpful: Username checks out
Bruh don’t tell me how to spend my $3.
I bought it once and the can didn't last as long as the LYNX ones do.
Maybe you just used more of it each time?
Is there a mountain dew version?
Wish there was a Schweppes creaming soda one
Correct.
How many times I've fallen for the red one and realised it was just Raspberry and not creaming soda
While it's not creaming soda scented deodorant, you can get some beard oil that smells pretty close: https://www.amazon.com.au/Layrite-Concentrated-Beard-Oil-59
Until I realised just how much sugar was in a can I didn’t mind drinking Solo. Funnily enough not once did I think “if only I could smell like this”.
There's Solo No Sugar now if you'd prefer that
Thanks for the info but I haven’t found an artificial sweetener that tastes acceptable.
That's simply because different sweeteners taste different. get used to one and it'll taste fine. you're not going to find a 1 to 1 with sugar though.
@Zaptruder: Yeah, sort of why I gave it up. Frankly, nowdays, I’m just as happy with my Soda Fountain water. Bubbles and no calories. Well, that and wine and hot chocolates.
@try2bhelpful: wine and hot chocolates with bubble taste weird…LOL
@dlovep: Obviously, not as a trio. However pairing certain wines with white/dark chocolate can work quite well. When I make my chocolate mousse I put a tablespoon of rum in.
Tens of thousands of evolution ay work.
Like zero alcohol beer/wine/spirits, brains days yes, body says errr no!Not to mention many artificial sweeteners are worse for your body than a natural sugar (we just need moderation of intake)
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3198517/
"rather than promoting weight loss, the use of diet drinks was a marker for increasing weight gain and obesity. Those who consumed diet soda were more likely to gain weight than those who consumed naturally-sweetened soda.""Animal studies have convincingly proven that artificial sweeteners cause body weight gain. A sweet taste induces an insulin response, which causes blood sugar to be stored in tissues, but because blood sugar does not increase with artificial sweeteners, there is hypoglycemia and increased food intake. So in the experiment, after a while, rats given artificial sweetener have steadily increased caloric intake, increased body weight, and increased adiposity."
https://health.clevelandclinic.org/whats-worse-sugar-or-arti….
"Artificial sweeteners are typically 200 to 600 times sweeter than sugar. They stimulate your taste buds, go to your brain, affect your hormones and slow your metabolism.
Both sugar and artificial sweetener are addictive. But artificial sweeteners may be likelier to make you get hungry, eat more throughout the day and develop diabetes."https://kaynutrition.com/avoid-artificial-sweeteners/
"Artificial sweeteners are chemical products that serve no beneficial function, purpose or role in our health. If you want to consume a sweet treat, you are best to actually consume a sweet treat, not a chemically processed product that just happens to taste sweet. Focus on natural sweeteners, enjoying treats in moderation, and leave the artificial sweeteners for the laboratory."
Artificial sweeteners are typically 200 to 600 times sweeter than sugar.
Worthless stats like this make the rest of what they are trying to say seem just as sensationalised.
Yes. They are sweeter, but you also use a shit load less of them. Maybe 200-600 times less.
@cooni: Read in context of the medical study, rather than just that extract, there is actually an important reason for this stat. It was talking about what your body does when it detects a trace amount of a substance 200 to 600 times sweeter than sugar in the body, and what it signals and reaction as a result of that information (even if a small amount) - producing insulin etc.
For want of a better analogy, let's say we compare it for example to temperature of a volume of drinking water. Drinking water may be typically 15 degrees C and you may drink 1L in an afternoon. That doesn't mean drinking 5ml of 3000 degree C water (well, steam) isn't going to set some serious alarm bells off in when it makes contact with you!!
It's artificial, it's not meant to be in our food chain and giving confused signals in our bodies… even in small quantities. Sugar is.
Don't fall for that! No Sugar (artificial sweetener) is still bad for you, probably worse! - See links in my reply to try2behelpful https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12449713/redir
Well yeah, I think everyone knows it's still bad for you. Haven't ever heard anyone drinking soda for health benefits.
@pennypincher98: true
holy shit this exists lmao
It’s no vb edt
Have you ever poured sweet lemony Solo all over yourself and thought, gee I smell great, if only I wasn't so sticky? Well this is for you…
You really sold it to me there… I'll buy a dozen. Lol
Glad I'm not alone!!
Can you use it everywhere?
https://78.media.tumblr.com/1b028553f3f06755bec5314721a58a20…
Homer (singing): Oh, Mindy, you came and you gave without flaking,
but I sent you Ben-gay.
Oh, Andy, you kissed me and stopped me from something,
and I…You know up until right now I’ve always thought that lyric was “and I sense you’ve been gay Oh Andy” and never thought twice it wasn’t the real Lyrics! This is quite possibly the most memorable thing I’ve gotten off OzBargain
…. See you tomooorrowww!!!
Finally a decent fragrance.
Awesome!!
What the actual (profanity).
Is it low on fizz so I can slam it down fast?
No that’s just the normal solo mate
Went into Woolies and got the normal blue Tradie. Never smelt the Solo before and can confirm it smells like flat Solo like shit.
Might taste nice though, but not willing to confirm that.
Rexona original is where its at.
"What the actual (profanity)."
I had the same thought.
Is this the lengths certain companies have to go to, to survive the pandemic? What's next Kitkat shampoo? Doritos shaving cream?
Doritos shaving cream
Don’t threaten me with a good time
God damn I can actually see that happening. Thanks MURICA.
Came in here to say this.
Gotta love Solo
"Solo: The deodorant for when you want to be by yourself."
Is this deodorant drinkable?
Anything is drinkable at least once.
Not all deodorants are drinks, but all drinks are deodorants.
If I wanted to smell like this I would go and sniff my lemon tree… but then I’m just reminded of toilet cleaner. Why would I want this under my armpit???
So, it's basically "lemon scent".
I tried it today … It doesn't smell like solo..
I'll return it..Crap, doesn't smell remotely like solo just like generic lynx spray
Nothing will beat Lynx Wasabi & Linen. I haven’t seen it around for awhile though. Anyone know if they discontinued it?
Do they have a no sugar version?
It's actually good, very fresh feeling and lemon + cedarwood scent that isn't overpowering! +1
I’m a bit confused by these deodorant-only products. Does it mean you guys use it in addition to a separate antiperspirant? Seems more like a perfume spray for men.
Don't tradies go for the deoderant only options so they can reek of both BO and cheap manchild perfume?
Is there a "Been on a bender had a nap in the gutter now ready for action" version available too?
now ready for action
The average 28 year Old Male is always ready for
action, bags in hand, Sportsbet multis placed and kfc zinger box delivery set as favourite for quick and easy checkout.
Brut doesn't come in an antiperspirant does it?
To me this seems like a polished turd.
What's polished about it?
Late stage capitalism
Maybe they looked at the 1980s ad for Solo and decided they could market a deodorant without changing the ad.
In my mind their marketing team has already won.
The concepts of SOLO being “The thirst crusher" and "Light on the fizz, so you can slam it down fast" now live rent free in my head.
You want to talk about it. Go to the 2 minute mark of this.
Don't forget Clown College (even though you can't eat that)
THATS IT! You people have stood in my way long enough! I'm going to Clown College!
@Jimothy Wongingtons: I bet they have tiny little classrooms.
@try2bhelpful: You should see the bikes!
@Gunnar: Not to mention the cars.
Solo. Name says it all. Lol
Ouch
A few random thoughts -
LYNX = You can smell like Wasabi and fresh linen or Leather and cookies…… Ok…. Sounds interesting, tell me more?
Tradie = You can smell like flat solo…… Yeah… Nah! Does it come with free ants?
Maybe a Pepsi max scent will attract the ladies?
Any true ozbargainer who loves this scent would just cover themselves in Solo. $1.10/L vs close to $20/L for this shit.
This might not be sticky though, and potentially may not attract wasps.
Potentially
This is awesome in how bad it is. I have no idea what it smells like, but you can't buy this expecting a good product.
Labelled "Tradie" because it smells like sweaty plumbers crack?
Hmmm, and you would know this how? :)
xmas presents sort out for bogan tradie mates
Crap product. Don't buy. I bought it once and the can didn't last as long as the LYNX ones do.
