    Ain't no $799 6800xt but a decent deal regardless..

    • +1

Time to fuel up the delorean boys

      • rubbish to Mr. Fusion. Easy as.

      • Something tells me another deal of that caliber and even better deals aren't that far off.

      • +6

This is odd, even for you.
When did the 970 become the basis of all benchmarks?
You pay more for less at the top end, not new.

        • +1

Jimmy is starting to get delusional from excessive HODLing.

          • @DarkOz: Jimmy bought the $349 6600xt shit eagle model. Thankfully From BPC too. I've blacklisted PLE & pccasegear since their behaviour early last year

        • I prefer to index from my Sapphire Atlantis 9700 Pro, personally.

        • -3

Those figures are all proportional to whatever models you wish to compare them to.

And yes you do pay more for less. That's exactly why it aint no $350 6600xt. Thank you for vindicating my post

    • Yeah, I got the GB vision for 899 couple of weeks ago from Amazon and just ordered the $799 6800XT to swap. The 8GB VRAM simply is not enough for my 4k monitor… Plus people say 6800XT is performance wise at RTX3080 level.

  • +52

I hate to be that guy, but really, this is what 3080s should be costing right now.

(As someone who bought a 3070 Ti in mid-2021 for $1399…)

    • +6

Unless you're wanting the white to match the rest of your build, the Asus TUF is probably the better of the two.

    • +3

Besides the vision being white, if you plan to watercool the gpu, I'd go Asus as there are more blocks available for it vs gigabyte.

  • +5

Gigabyte vision & gaming oc were this price earlier in the month at multiple stores and the leadtek 3 fan down to $849 before BPC bumped up the price. Given how hard some of the other cards have fallen this doesn't seem that great tbh.

    • +7

Wait till you see 3060 ti, which has dropped $30 in 3 months

    • +12

To be fair I would take Asus over GB any day of the week. The 30 series TUF is meant to be very well design cooling solution from memory and typically costs 100+ more than your average models.

      • +2

Better cooling also means low fan noise which is why I stick to ASUS Tuf series. I think I paid close to 1.5K for this one less than a year ago. Great card.

      • +1

Yup. I have this model in a cramped mini ITX case and it usually hovers around 75C when under load

  • +4

Great price for the Ti (Tiny Increase Titanium) version of the 3070.

    • +5

tiny increase in performance, but a huge increase in power consumption. by all accounts the 3070ti is a bit rubbish.

  • +4

I am still waiting for 3080 to be under $900. Am I too greedy?

    • +7

For an LHR card I would say absolutely not.

      • +1

        Thank you sir.

      • -4

no freaking difference between LHR and non-LHR cards for gaming, and for mining now.

        • -4

Woah sounds like someone's having trouble downsizing the mining farm. My house in Melbourne is still going up though. Never personalize investing (gamers mine crypto because they like gpu's. Telstra workers invested in dotcom because they worked at Telstra. People invest in dog shares because they like dogs etc

Fact is crypto is essentially imaginary volatile bullshit. You can't rent out a bitcoin, nor is future demand guaranteed. Hodlers aren't to blame for gpu prices dropping (your anger is best directed to your fellow crypto miners who stopped fuelling demand)

I haven't negged any of your comments for at least 3 weeks btw. I would however like my ability back to neg bad deals again. Your mining buddies on here will censor even the most reasonable comments in a futile attempt to keep demand afloat

In the end I settled for a 1080ti 5 years later with gimped memory. It's called the 6600xt and I paid tree fitty for it. I would've at least expected an XFX for $320 in 2022, but I caved out of fear I would pay AMD $500 for a 6700xt in a few weeks. Now that snake company only gets $349.

          • @Jimmy77: downsizing what? I only got 1 GPU, and that's for those FREE Epic games I haven't played.

          • @Jimmy77: Really nickel and diming it if you're a homeowner. Is Dan's Socialist Utopia not bringing home the bacon?

        • -1

There's a tremendous difference in mining. It's a plague across humanity that GPUs are hamstrung by a benighted industry. They're in the pocket of the banks otherwise the chip developers would be singing the miner's praises for stuffing their pockets and fueling developments. Gaming is really stuck in the mud with graphics and programming. Studios are downright lazy and stupid. Selling Skyrim 5 or 6 times and it's based off an engine that's about 20 years old? Pathetic. It was dated when it came out. New coins are now fueling the tremendous games and incentivizing play. Why just today I heard about one such coin that shall be used in Minecraft and Rust. How can one not be thrilled?

          • +1

@LuCJ: Fallout is Oblivion with guns, same engine.

    • +5

6800xt was $800 recently. It'll happen sooner or later, Nvidia are just being stubborn.

      • Nvidia seems to have a way to go for parity with AMD for price/performance .

      • Nvidia are just being stubborn

        Stubbornly greedy.

      • +1

That's the ruthless modern ceo model. Squeeze, price gouge and then stand firm. They're essentially shunning economic cycles and trying to enforce the fantasy of up up and up and the consumer on the bottom is expected to support them and pay these prices. Our society is now corporatist not capitalist. 9 years of conservative governments, Most leading western nations were conservative governments the last decade.

  • +8

    Keep HODLing

  • HODL till 2024 .

    • +5

Then 2025… Your wallet will thank you

  • +1

    H

  • -2

The trouble is, we're all trying to pick the bottom of the market so that we don't get buyer's remorse - either because we overpaid or we missed out completely because we HODL'd for too long and there's no stock left

    • +3

There is a Sh!tload of mining GPU's about to flood the second hand market from China, as well as AIB's having a huge inventory surplus, Nvidia over ordered 40 series chips from TSMC, these 3 factors guarantees anyone buying GPU right now will experience buyers remorse in the next 3-6 months.

      • +1

A month ago we were told about all the mining gpus you will see any day now.

Still any day now but they're coming from China?

        • +1

Im not a miner, I'd imagine these mining companies are waiting to see when Ethereum proof of stake happens before offloading their cards.

      • They'll flood the Chinese second hand market and won't have any effect on the circumstances here lol.

        • -1

          A billion people in China

If we think we're getting any cheap, we're wrong

      • Nvidia 'over ordering' from TSMC isn't an error like your comment implies. They are monopolising supply. Those chips will get sold because there is always a market that buys new, and there won't be enough stock of any alternative.

Both Intel and AMD rely on TSMC for GPU production.

      • +2

Bang on. Unfortunately there's a lot of children who don't understand economic climates or simply wish to ignore them to suit their anti hodl agenda.

We have an oversupply of gpu's to the point nvidia are trying to cut orders. People like beeze are in a serious state of denial. These people should understand the supply shortage is the entire reason gpu's got so expensive. Now there's an oversupply and the creature can't put 2 and 2 together. It would be nice if the anti hodlers accepted supply & demand for what it is.

Thinking we'll see linear demand to the past 20 months is ludicrous. Mining demand is gone, and there is an oversupply of stock. Do these anti hodling economic noobs even understand the most basic concepts of supply and demand? It doesn't seem so

        • +2

You've perfectly articulated the current state graphic cards. I can not understand how people cant put 2 and 2 together, the US and China market dictate what happen to the tiny economy of Australia, undersupply = inflated prices, oversupply = cheaper prices with current economic events, it should equate to hugely cheaper graphic cards, not RRP.

Nvidia can delay TSMC chip production, but if AMD put the pressure on, and they will, because they also over ordered their new chips and need to clear old inventory. By the end of the year, there will be huge discounts compared to the prices we have right now.

Nvidia vs Amd vs AIB overstock vs Nvidia new 40 series… its going to be a blood bath!

          • +1

@Magik: Yup and also intel entering the market :)

    • +2

There's literally tens of millions of mining GPU about to hit the second hand market, plus Ampere is overproduced and Lovelace wafers are oversupplied. Ampere is going to have to get sold at steep discounts to clear stock after Lovelace and RDNA3 launch, there simply isn't enough time to clear them before then.

      • -1

Apparently nvidia sold a bunch of their TSMC capacity to Facebook, so oversupply of Lovelace may come later?

      • -3

And how will these used GPU's get to Australia?
Who is buying used GPU's from OS?

        • +4

They'll be shipped en masse and sold locally, much cheaper to ship them in bulk than sell them one by one.

        • +1

Give it a rest beeze. Your name may as well be "nvidia" with the comments you post

  • +3

    3080 at this price soon

    • +2

      wait until 19/09,

  • +3

Can’t recommend MWave if you’re in a hurry to get something

    • +2

Took them over 3 months to send me something that was listed as available from warehouse in 1-2 weeks.

    • +2

i would rather not have a product at all than use mwave. I dont know how theyre still in business with the sort of shit they pull on a daily basis..

  • My wallet says Hodl, but my brain says "What if this is the lowest…"

    • +6

Well your brain can rest easy knowing its not. Tonne of stock around and next gen is looming, these things have no where to go but down.

  • +7

15% slower than the 6800XT. Really needs to be $699 to be considered a deal, anyone buying it at $899 is getting finessed.
To be fair, Nvidia cards haven't yet received in Aus the steep discounts they've had in the US.

    • -1

      No other country has.
Prices in Europe are way higher than here.

      • The Euro has been in free fall this year thanks to Italy though, and their sales taxes are higher.

  • is this the lowest price ever for a ASUS TUF 3080 Ti?

    • will sold out in 10 minutes if the price is for 3080 Ti

    • -1

      It's not a 3080ti
It might be the cheapest 3070ti but there are a bunch of alt models that would operate very similarly.

  • +3

Nice card, but hold out for a 3080 10gb, if you can. Great for gaming and mining.

  • +1

Will be half that price by November Diamond hands!

    • Wouldn't 'Diamond hands' be more accurate if you purchased this deal now and didn't care if it dropped hugely in price by November…
