Samsung Galaxy A33 5G is on sale for $499 + 10% discount with the click frenzy code 92JBFRENZYJUL. End price is $449.10.

Good value for money versus Samsung Galaxy a53/a73 if your not a gamer. Full review: https://youtu.be/jUygyaeBZqA

Unlike pixel 6a this has 90hz screen refresh at almost half the price. The processor on pixel 6a is faster though.

Update: thanks to gibspmuh for pointing out its actually cheaper at good guys, for $499 minus 15% with coupon JULY15. Bringing it down to $424.15.

The A53 5G is currently on sale for just $17 more - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/715267

  • Is this phone any good?

    • I have a A52, its way better than my old S9 and $1000 less, win win

How does that help him, it's not the same phone? Yeah this phone I have isn't the one you want to buy but yeah its great.

    • Watch the review in the linked youtube video for a good overview

    • Its good but not at this price point. Get the A53 deal for few bucks more.. 10x better

      • Jb HiFi will price match GGs with the 15% discount, if you're lucky you might get an additional 10% off depending who gives you the code.

  • Its a massive cut down from the A52/A53 models and for around same price. not sure how this is a good deal… they should be $250-300

The difference with a53 is very small. Same chip. Same battery. Same 4 years os updates. Only difference is camera and screen refresh rate is slightly better in a53.

      • For practically the same price, I rest my case

        • Well to say it's only worth $300 is a bit of an exaggeration when specs are practically the same. $50 difference in current sale yeh you can't go wrong either way. $50 is still $50 though and some ppl have tight budgets.

  • X5 lite (Oppo)on sale too

Oppo has poor update policy. Samsung has the best updates followed by Google. 4 OS update is 1 year short of Apple OS update but 5 years security update from Samsung and Google should be the industry Android standard.

  • A53 Reviews are bad, most saying poor performance

I have one. I personally find it fine. The Exynos chip is definitely not as powerful as Snapdragon phones in this price range, but it's not terrible.

I found One UI sluggish, so I just threw on the Microsoft launcher, and performance improved. I heard OneUI can sometimes be a bit stuttery on the Galaxy S phones as well.

I haven't played any Genshin on it, but Pokemon Go works fine. Turning the AR on will slow it down, but I'm not sure if it's just AR in general that's like that.

One benefit of having a lower powered processor is that the battery lasts longer. I charge my phone up to 85% using the battery saver function, and I can get through a whole day of heavy use of browsers, calls, texting, video and music and still get about 30% of battery before I go to bed. I haven't really used it for gaming much though, but I reckon it would do alright battery-wise.

      • Good summary. This phone is not a high end phone but it does just fine for day to day tasks and can last a full day due to lower power usage and large battery (5000mAh).

In my opinion the 90hz screen in this is better than 120hz in the a53 as the chip is under less load. Smooth 120hz requires a higher end processor than the exynos 1280. 90hz also has the benefit of extending the battery life a bit further than a53 (this phone beats it in most endurance tests).
